Hello all,
Just checking in to bump us back up.
I am also taking down Christmas decorations today. Everything looks so bare now! I was tempted to put up the Valentine stuff, but decided to wait. We've also lost almost all of our snow due to rain and fog, so even the outside looks bare. High temps in the 40s for the next few days. Woohoo...heatwave!!!!

I made the Pea Soup tonite and it was YUMMY!!! My kids were being picky and decided they didn't like it (they usually like pea soup, but ???) But *I* LOVED it! So, since there is so much, I'm packaging it up in individual containers to freeze for nights when I'm here alone for dinner! Quick AND yummy--my favorite combination!

BTW, I forgot to take out the bay leaf before I pureed it. I'm not gonna die or anything, am I? And I'm sure glad I used 3 ham hocks instead of just 1, because between the 3 of them I got MAYBE one ounce of meat! But it sure made the flavor yummy.

Hi everybody else. Still painting and trying to catch up on house work over here. Tomorrow officially ends my holiday vacation. Schedule is going to be jam packed full. Not looking forward to it. I'll try to DIS still. It's my sanity keeper.

I didn't receive the 5X offer either. I think it's because I've increased my charging so I could have more $ on my rewards card. They figured I didn't need anymore motivation.

Past few days we've been in the low 60s. I thought I would annoy those of you who have to shovel snow. I hope you still talk to me.

so great to hear from you magikitty! hope you're having a great time at the wedding and on your trip.

another dull friday night for us. which is fine for me! i'd rather this than something bad, right? but i do miss going out, even for dinner! we really don't have a babysitter, besides family, so we don't get out much! i'm trying to line something up for next weekend. now that the kids are 3 and 1 1/2, we might trust someone else. any suggestions on how to make ourselves ok with that??!!

i'm off to read some trip reports, i always start with my fellow killers!

Glad to hear this. Some girls can be so mean but it sounds like your DD has a wonderful best friend and brother too. She's very lucky in that sense. Hopefully spooky girl got the message loud and clear.

The waiting is the hardest part...hey isn't that a song? lol. We are staying positive for now.

hopefully we have heard the last of spooky girl. She is really a sad story. Mom deserted her, Dad is a jerk, etc.

Pepper, I'm sorry to hear about your FIL, but hopefully after the surgery things will look better. Good news about your DD - she is lucky to have such a great big brother and best friend!

Yesterday was a sad, depressing day for me (very unusual!). DS left to go back to college and isn't planning on coming back home until next Thanksgiving (we are going to go visit him in September). It was so much harder than when we left him down there this fall! I guess it really hit me that he is gone for good. Then we started taking down our Christmas decorations and everything just seems so Blah...

I know how you feel with DS. We have a DS in college too and although he lives at home (school is local) once baseball season starts we don't see much of him because of the travel. Summers he leaves in June and gets home in Aug because he plays in the Southern Collegiate League...we can listen to that on the internet so it helps some. (of course I will be providing a link this summer haha.)

It is hard so here is a hug for ya. Remember like Bill Cosby says though "They always come back!" haha.

I hope for your DD sake that SG has taken the hint and will go away. I hate dealing with "mean girls" and the problem has trickled down to the younger ones too.

Have you found your Subscribed Threads list yet? Its a much easier way to navigate to the threads you use all the time.

Scroll up just under where you log in, and you will see the heading "Quick Links." Click on that. There will be a drop down menu. Go down towards the bottom of the list of options, and click on "Subscribed Threads." This will be a list of all the threads you are subscribed to. Thread Killers is almost always at the top of my list b/c its sorted by how active the thread is.

Subscribed threads is always my first stop when I log in b/c its an easy way to see if anything new has been added to the threads I visit. Also, its a super easy way to get here! I didn't even know we had been moved until I read someone's post.

Hi guys!!! Just popping in to say hi. FIL did not come visit today, but I did talk to his wife. She said it is not time to panic yet, but my FIL is just a nervous wreck (understandable lol). I was able to get the "scoop" though. Basically he has a malignant mass in his right lung chamber. He is supposed to go to the surgeon on Tue (That was the announcement, that he is having lung surgery). We will know more after that visit. It is not officially lung cancer at this point. The Dr. says they may get the entire mass in surgery and that will be the end of it. We just have to wait and see.

Spooky girl has not sent anymore messages to DD. It may because DD's best friend is now dating the boy that caused it all. hahaha. Best friend however can and will defend herself lol. Bestfriend also sent "word" that spooky girl better leave my DD alone lol. We shall see....the saga continues. DS (19) got involved and involved the varsity baseball team at the High School (most of em' lol, those baseball players sure stick together) So she is now officially protected. I think it is getting on her nerves though lol.

Okay, tomorrow, starts the first full school week since Christmas, I have to say not looking forward to it. I hate the months after Christmas before spring. A couple of snow days that's, hang out cook have a fire going but other then that it's just dragging, dragging and boring! Just find it so hard to get back in the swing of things. Okay, I'll start counting down till beach vacation maybe, that will help.

Hey everyone! I haven't been on here all day. Had a very bad day with DS and just decided to clean the whole house. Had to do something constructive for a change to work out all the frustrations. Then the younger kids and DH took over the computer so I was left out in the cold. I gotta buy another computer for me just so I can DIS more often.

disney54us-our first full week of school is this week too. And then next weekend, they have another 4 day weekend for MLK Day. I can never get into the swing of things over the winter. In between long weekends and snow days, it seems like they never a get a full week of school in. I like to keep them all on a schedule but with all the days off, it's hard.

A beach vacation sure does sound nice but none for us this year. We usually go to Disney every year but since future stepmom and her kids have never been, we are trying to make this really great vacation. Most of her kids have never traveled anywhere except for the Jersey shore (and that was only once) so we really want to show them a good time. Maybe I can just crank up the heat, drink some pretty looking fruity drink, and put on the Beach Boys and pretend I'm at the beach.

BYW disney54us, did you ever decided what you are doing about Thanksgiving dinner while on vacation? I keep changing my mind everyday. A nice sit down dinner sounds great but then so does lounging by the pool all day and just grabbing a bite to eat. Such hard decisions...lol

All of out activities start back this week too. Preschool, dance, etc. I think I'll be glad to get back into our routine.

Cleaning? great way to work off frustration, and then you have something to look at after, A Clean House!! Hate trying to get back in the swing of things, Is it Easter break yet??
Well, I'm sure you are going to plan a really special trip, so just go buy one of those lighted palm tree's, some play sand, ocean candle and ocean sound CD at target. Have, older DS be the bartender, whipping up tropical drinks and enjoy. Don't forget the Sunscreen!
Haven't decided on t-day dinner, DS really want's to do the whole home away from home and not go out. We are leaning towards that, plus I love left overs!! Now it would be figuring out if I would use a grocery delivery service, or go off site and purchase myself.

pepper - i really hope your FIL is doing well. how terrible it is to wait and see. is the surgery tomorrow, or just a consult?

i'm also glad that spooky girl has been put in her place. i thought it was funny that we're all referring to her now as sg!

praise2him - that really stinks about your "down" day. i know it's hard (i can't imagine in 15 years that i wouldn't see my daughter for so long), but bopsmom is right, you must have done an excellent job raising him that he strong enough to do that. i know it's just a small bit of comfort, though.

i didn't get the 5X points offer either. i was thinking the same thing as DL55 - we used that card a LOT for the rewards, so they probably don't want to give me 5X the points or they'd be losing money on me! maybe i'll call and see if i can get that offer anyway.

that's all i can remember so far, i'll go back and check and post again!

Gooooood Morning Killers,
It's a warm but very foggy and rainy day here in WI. I like temps in the 50s but actually miss the snow cover. The dog seems to find all the mud and then track it through the house.
Big 100 car crash on our freeway this weekend because the fog has been so thick. Sadly 2 were killed but luckily not more. It is so foggy I cannot see across the street, even today!! Makes me want to stay in bed all day but instead I dis' by the soft glow of the monitor.

Thanks for inspiring me to walk...dr said I should for 30 min a day but friends work (the only bad thing I've found with retirement).
I made our thread a favorite before I left or I never would have found it.
Anyone with frustrations can come clean my house! I just sit and cry. Works for me but the house is still messy.
I have to get the decorations out of my yard and clean up my siggie from Christmas.
I miss sunny FL!

shmu - way to go with the basement. you must be pretty close to finishing if you're painting? i always liked the painting part for that reason, even though it is hard work. i hope you show us pictures again!

whgrn - i am SO glad you liked the soup! too bad about the kids, more for you though! i did that once with the bay leaf, (that's why i had to add it to my recipe card) i think you'll be ok! look out for little hard pieces! that's too bad about not having that much ham. my mother-in-law usually gives me the hock, and she leaves a ton of ham on it. i don't usually like ham but it's great in the soup, i always put a lot. and i always give her a huge container (that's our deal!), but there's so much left over still. yummy! i have 2 ham hock's in the freezer right now, i think i'll have to make it today!!

pepper - thanks for the push about the babysitter - i really need to just get over it and do it. my sister-in-law said to me that the first time i find a good sitter, i will feel so free! we really need to go out more, it's so great for a marriage.

hey d&ddisney - can you tell us about your croc free zone banner? i'm guessing i can't have one since we have about 6 pairs in our house! my daughter and i have the same brown furry ones. sorry!
