i just got some great news!!
it looks like i will be joining my husband in disney in about 2 weeks! he has to go for work for a few days and if i can get some babysitters, i will be there too! i'm so psyched. it will be sad for the kids that they won't be there, but i think i'll be ok. lol! i never thought we'd be able to go just us until they we're practically grown, so what a surprise. i was just saying on here that we need to get out more by ourselves and now this!

we'll have some frantic planning to do, but i don't mind, as long as i'm going. i'll keep you guys posted.

:woohoo: :woohoo: Don't worry about the kids they won't hold it against you:rotfl: right
pixiedust: for babysitters
Watch yourself! Remember that old Disney comercial about "souvenirs" ;) :lmao: ;)

whoops, computer is doing crazy things. Didn't mean to double post.

Hey! Is it me or are the boards bad again? It seems to be taking forever, all the duplicate posts, and now it seems like some posts are missing. :confused3 It must have taken me well over 5 minutes to open a thread a little bit ago. What happened to the upgrade?

the boards are weird i think.
i went to my folder for thread killers (it has it's own folder!) and i see the last post by dreamin in pa at 10:20pm, when i go to the last page, i can't see her post. what's up?

maybe when this goes up, then i'll see it. is there a conspiracy to get rid of the new thread killers? first we're banished to the bottom of the barrel and now this?!

they can't keep us down!! lol!

WWWHHHHHEEEEEWWWW. So glad your posts showed up. I was having the same trouble. My post was the last one I could see. I panicked thinking, OH NO. I really killed the Thread Killer thread.:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Don't know what's going on. Can't stay this morning. I'm heading out. I'll check in later.:hippie:

Good Morning everyone! I tried to post yesterday but right as I clicked to submit something crazy happened and it never went through, so I'll try to remember everything I said.:confused3

Well, Sunday was another bad day for me - I cried almost all day:sad: but then Monday morning my "friend" came to visit me, so it was probably mostly PMS :lmao: Oh well, I'm MUCH better now, so thank you for all the . It really helps to have such wonderful supportive friends to make me feel better!

Someone asked about my DS's college schedule. He's at a Film School that goes year-round except for 1 week at Spring Break, 1 week at July 4th, 4 days at Thanksgiving and 2 weeks at Christmas. He's already made plans to go to New York with a friend for Spring Break, and Miami with another friend for July 4th. It is good that he's independent (and makes friends easily) but I just miss him. :sad1:

How's everyone doing with their walking? I walked 1 hour Monday and Tuesday!

I know there was more stuff that I wanted to say, but now I can't remember it! :confused3

Hey Mags, it looks like you'll be there around the same time as us! That's so exciting! DH and I have also been twice without kids - in 2003 for our 20th anniversary (stayed concierge!) and in 2006 he had a work conference and I went with him and went to the parks while he was in meetings - it was great! You'll have lots of fun! :)

Oh, yeah, I have to stick up for the Crocs here - no offense to D&D and M&N, but I LOVE Crocs and have about 8 pair! (btw, they're rubber not plastic, and they aren't all bright colors :rolleyes1 ) Hey, we can disagree and still be friends!:grouphug:

Have a great day everyone! :goodvibes

praise2him, i'm sorry you had another bad day, but i know i wind up feeling better after a day of a couple of real good cries. i know it sounds weird, but someone once said to me to make the cry count. like get it out and move on. it works for me!

i must agree with you, too, about the crocs not being bright! we have 6 pairs in our house - my son has beige with a little camo, and he just got "cars" ones - they are red but not too bad! my daughter has a brown pair and a pale pink. i have 2 browns and one tan - oops that's 7 pairs. i have more than my kids! uh oh!

shmu - i could only see your post as the last one, too. but i knew there had to be something wrong with the boards because i knew you couldn't kill our thread - no one can!

i'll check in again later, time to take my daughter to gymnastics. by the way, she's the mags, and my son is dennis. bopsmom thought my screen name meant that maggie is in the den when i'm dis-ing. i thought that was hilarious! it really means mags and den. i'm still laughing about that now!

see you later!

Good morning killers!

magsnden - Didn't you recently get back from WDW? I'm trying to solve the stroller question for our upcoming trip and our kids are about the same age. Thought I would see what you did.

Have a great day all!:)

Hi killers, wasn't on yesterday:scared1:, and I really should be doing a 100 other things, but had to check on everyone. From what I read good thing I didn't try to post yesterday, seems like the boards were a little wacky. The day before, I had a double post and couldn't figure it out:confused3. Still not getting notifications, is anybody else??? magsden, a trip to WDW w/o kids??, what a nice surprise, maybe you could tell them you went to Pittsburgh:rotfl:.
I didn't know there was a banner thread:confused3. okay gotta go, check back later:goodvibes.

Hey everyone!!! Just saying hello and wanted to share my good news with regard to FIL. Because I am lazy, I am gonna cut and paste it..I never get messages right anyway lol:

"Surgery is scheduled for 1/17. The doctor seems to believe that it has not spread. He will take several lymph nodes and examine them if they are clear then he will not need chemo or radiation. So, all we do now is wait until Thursday. His spirits are good and we are confident all will go well"

Praise- Be proud. ;) It is a reflection on you of what a wonderful parent you must have been to raise a son that feels confident enough to be so independant. Be proud. Also remember, at that age??? Plans change. He may end up coming home after all. :goodvibes

pepperw23-good news indeed. So glad to hear this and I will continue to keep you and your family in my prayers.

Glad to see I wasn't the only having all kinds of problems last night. I'm still getting the email notifications but I would give them up if they got the problems from last night fixed.

And Schmu, you couldn't kill this thread...one of us would always be along to keep it going.:goodvibes

Praise2Him-just a big  I only hope when my kids are older, they feel as confident as your son does.

yes, we went right after thanksgiving for a week. what are you thinking about the stroller situation? hope i can help.

lol - pittsburgh! the bad thing is that my daughter heard me saying to my DH "if we can stay at one of the hotels near the boardwalk that would be perfect." she LOVES going to the boardwalk. on our trip in march we went twice in less than a week! i think it's ok though, i told her i would be going just with daddy for a few days. i'm going from wed to sat, and they'll be with my mom, who (whom? anybody know?!) they love of course, and then with my SIL, so they'll have fun too.

soooo glad to hear that everything should be ok. we'll all keep praying for you and your family.

ok so i have a tiny bit of info about our trip. we are staying at the dolphin (it's where the convention is being held). DH is going down on monday and i'll meet him on wednesday. we stayed here 3 years ago and we brought our daughter, who was 9 months old. it was her first official trip! i like this hotel a lot, the location is unbeatable, we can catch the boat to yacht and beach club, mgm, and epcot. but the beds there are the *BEST* ever. they're called the heavenly bed and they are not kidding! i hope we get a room with 2 beds because i do not want to be disturbed!!!

ok, kids calling! gotta go!

WOW---The Dolphin looks so neat. Didn't get in it yet.

Pepperw23---sounds encouraging. Good spirits are important. Praying for the 17th.

I could not get on today...thought it was aol. I have dialup so I'm a slowski anyway.

Anyone ever stay at Port Orleans Riverside? Is it easy to get to parks? A friend is taking her 30+ brother who has Downs and she's never been before.

Sun's out so must go for that walk. Trying to get a partner.

pepperw23 - good news about FIL. I will certainly keep praying for him and your family.

M&N - we stayed at POR for our honeymoon 9 yrs ago (when it was still Dixie Landings) We didn't have any problems with getting around. If I remember correctly, our building was pretty close to the main building so we just walked to that bus stop. There are other bus stops too. It was really nice and we liked it. We will probably go over there to Boatright's Dining Hall to eat on our trip in Feb. It's just down the road from OKW and we like it.

magsnden - I'm thinking we will take umbrella stroller for when not in parks and rent a double in the parks. I figure since the park doubles are just big plastic things DS(1)will have room to stretch out and go to sleep if he wants and DD(4) can get in there with him when she gets tired of walking. DD doesn't ever ride in a stroller anymore, but of course WDW is a totally different ballgame. I guess it's either that or take 2 umbrellas. We'll have 4 adults to help push, so it probably wouldn't be too bad. What did ya'll do? BTW, the Dolphin sounds awesome.:thumbsup2

Hi everyone  (just love these smilies)
Afraid I'll jinx this but today my DIS connection has been behaving. :)
pepperw23 I'm so glad for the good news here's a  for your FIL that the nodes are negative.
Hope everyone is keeping up with their walking. Just think of it a training for WDW. :rotfl2:
M&N I haven't stayed at POR but I've heard good reviews. Transportation is all buses.

i'm happy we're staying at the dolphin. being in walking distance to the boardwalk is great and taking the boats is so great too.

so we brought a sit-n-stand stroller with us. it was the best investment i made (especially of all the baby stuff there is to buy!). my son would really not be comfortable in an umbrella stroller, so even though that would be the easiest for the plane, buses, and trams that was out of the question for us. the front part of our sit-n-stand lays pretty far back so it was very comfortable for him to sleep in, plus when we were walking a long way, my daughter could climb on and we didn't have to walk slow, or listen to complaining (except from me if i was pushing it - that thing is heavy with both of them!). i would like to rent a stroller one day, but correct me if i'm wrong, but i never saw any straps or anything, and i know there would be no way my son would stay in it. he's 19 mos so maybe when he's older he might listen. then again his track record so far doesn't really give me and reason to think he'll ever listen.

but i think if your little man is ok in an umbrella stroller or if he's not yet mobile, their strollers will probably work well for you.
either way, you'll have an amazing time! when are you going?

there's more i want to say but i have to get something done while the kids are in bed.

You could have been talking about the boardwalk in AC:rotfl2:.
:cloud9: mmm, heavenly bed?? Please do tell.
I've rented the strollers from the parks. Some I like better then others (they have different ones in each of the parks), they do all have straps, when my DS was younger he was one of those I can get out of anything kids:scared1:. The only thing is when you have to leave the parks and they're tired or fell asleep and you have to carry them the whole way back! Which usually leads to a aching back.

Hey Guys, so glad to find us on page one tonight:dance3:, did actual get some things done today:banana:, not enough though. DM came over to have me read over her papers for Caterak surgery on the 1/15 (I know I'm spelling it wrong), I thing she's getting nervous, mmm let me rephrase I know she is (she's getting a little testy) which really isn't like her.

Hey have to comment on the Croc's thing. I don't own them, know people who swear by them, but this is coming from me, remember two broken feet 5 broken toes for 8 weeks. Now graduated to sneakers all day all the time 24/7. After wearing sneakers (yes I know black is always in fashion:laughing:), no matter what I thought before of any shoes, boots etc. I find anything a fashion statement:rotfl:, Maybe when I graduate from sneakers I'll get myself a pair:idea:.

AUdisfan, have you thought about renting from one of the baby equipment rental places? We did that 2 years ago and it was really easy and I think cheaper than renting a double from Disney everyday. The stroller was waiting for us on our arrival day and we just turned the stroller into luggage services on our check-out day. We didn't have a stroller through the airport but for us, that would have been more of a hassle.

Hi Guys!

Checking in to say that I walked for 1 hour today! :cool1:

Then went to the dentist for a cleaning - YUCK! But, no cavities! :thumbsup2

Thank you for the encouragement - I think you're right!

Oh, and I wasn't really calling you Mags, I was just abbreviating your screen name because I'm too lazy to type it all out (although I did think that maybe it was you and your husband was Dennis). That is funny about Maggie in the den! :lmao:

That is great news about your FIL. I will keep him in my prayers.

Also, thank you too for the wonderful encouraging words - you're right! I am pretty great! :goodvibes LOL Just Kidding. You are right about the plans changing though, I'll remember that!

Praise2Him-just a big  I only hope when my kids are older, they feel as confident as your son does.

Thanks for the  I'm sure they will because you're such a great parent! :goodvibes

I've stayed at the Swan before and it was really nice (love the location). I know you'll have a great trip!

Sun's out so must go for that walk. Trying to get a partner.

I've stayed at POR once. It's a pretty big resort so they might have a walk to the bus stop, but the buses were pretty good when we were there (several years ago).

Did you go for a walk? Sounds like you had a nice day for it.

Hope the cataract surgery goes well for your DM. Someone was telling me that now they go ahead and do LASIK while they're doing the cataract removal - is that true? That would be awesome! I had LASIK in 2004 and it was the best thing I've ever done!

Glad to hear your feet are healing. I know you'll be happy to get out of the sneakers.:cool1:

I just put an answer in a croc thread! I didn't knock those who do. Just wanted to get D&DDisney's banner out there! ;) I'm bored!
