Hey y'all! (I watched me some Paula Deen today, have adopted a Georgia drawl). Its snowing again up here--we're expecting up to six inches overnight. I think I'm finally packed, repacked, overpacked. Its done now, no looking back. Did laundry, cleaned out fridge, paid bills.

I didn't even know they had an electric tricycle! I love it! I so need to get on the fitness craze myself. I did have a goal that I "forgot" about to lose some weight for the wedding next week but I can always try again when I get back. I have a lonely treadmill here at home, I'll get on him too and we'll walk throughout the year. And I agree, a V-neck is a curvy girl's best friend. Accentuate the positive!

Men in kilts? Bless me! Add that sweet accent and I'd be putty touring Scotland! The trip sounds so great--I get that AmEx travel stuff too and just dream about it. Its so cool that you guys are actually doing it. What a wonderful vacation.

I have to go out and get this Rhett book. My godson is also named Rhett, after the character. How many pages is it? If its a really thick book I may not want to bring it on the plane. Who likes Highland fiction? Have you read anything by Diana Gabaldon? She has a wonderful time-travelling Highlander historical romance series. They're like 800 pages each, I think there are 6 books so far. They're fantastic! I practically devour books, so I'm always looking for more bang for the book buck. I highly recommend them. I would offer to send mine, but I'm terrible about giving books away!

What's scrapple? Where have you had it?

dreamin, seriously, you're SIL is making my head spin. What a character. I think you should go out for Thanksgiving somewhere onsite. They do all the cooking and cleaning, and isn't the spirit just sharing your dinner with others? What a wonderful time that will be. I fully admit it: I'm a Small World freak. I just love those little dolls. I forgot to get their ornament when I was there this year, someone on the Dis said you could buy them at DTD.

Ooh, I haven't been to Hershey in ages. BF and I were talking about taking a small trip in June. Maybe that should be on the list. Does anyone know if they're handicapped friendly? We went to Busch Gardens Williamsburg this year and it was so NOT handi-friendly. We'll never go again, which is said b/c its a really pretty park, but it was quite frustrating getting around.

Ok, I think I may be caught up now (y'all). I need to stop walking away from the computer. Or I need to check it more often. Something needs to be changed. I missed out on so much already! And yes, I will try my darndest to DIS from Asia! I'm leaving Tuesday night, so I may be Dising from Seoul on Wednesday!

Oh oh, one more...no email notifications here either, and the posting is back to being super slow.

Hey, speaking of bikes... why don't we all get a Surrey Bike like they have on Disney Boardwalk? It would be great for those of you who don't like to ride alone and/or have bad knees. I always:)
I've always secretly wanted one of these. Thought it would come in handy for the family if gas ever gets way out of wack. :rotfl2:

MagiKitty-DH loves IASW too. We must ride it multiple times while we are at MK. I just love it because it brings back memories from my childhood. But I really can't wait to take future stepmom on it. It's going to be right up her alley. It will be like riding it with one of my little ones.

I don't remember how handicapped friendly Hershey is. We never made it there last year. But I do know at certain parts of the parks, there are very steep hills. I'm not sure if that would be a concern of yours. I did notice on the Hershey Park website, under general information, there is a "guide for guests with disabilities" that you can download. Might be more of a help than me.

pepperw23-Liver Mush?!? :scared1: Sounds real interesting though. Might have to pass on that one too.:lmao:

Hey TKers!

So much to comment on and it's really late. I'll just say thanks for the birthday at WDW tips, getting more jealous over the Scotland thing and hope you feel better.

Good night ya'll.

Mornin' y'all! (still have some Paula Deen in me). Well its the last day of 2007--can you believe it? Woke up to a winter wonderland, we got about 5 inches overnight. 90 degree weather is looking really good right now!

I like the surrey bike idea. It looks like something I can handle. Has anyone ridden them? I've always wanted to, but then I felt bad for the guy who had to lug my butt around the Boardwalk...

Thanks for the info about Hershey, I'll have to look for more info. The steep hills may be an issue. At the parks, we usually rent a wheelchair, and I'm not the best driver! But it is a great workout for my arms...

Years ago, we closed the year with lots of retrospective shows: best music, tv, movies of 2007. There have been no countdowns in recent days. I've been looking for them. They're so much fun to watch!

I guess I should remove the cute fellows in my siggies. What's the next holiday for dancing siggies? I don't want to remove them unless I can replace them with something else.

Talk to ya later y'all.

I thought a Mardi Gras one would be fun.:yay: I wanted to submit this, but I don't know how to make it small enough for our signature line.:confused3

The free site where I found the mask asked not to be linked to it, so if you know how to make them smaller than PM me and I will send you the website where I found this. There are several Mardi Gras animations there.

Happy 2008!!!!

I swear it tastes better than it sounds. Kinda like finely ground sausage then it is fried crisp. Healthy stuff...lol. :lmao:

That is really cute!!!!! do you want me to email a copy to a friend of mine here at work to shrink it up for ya? PM me if so and I will send you my email address so you can send it to me. I am getting ready to leave for the day, but I will be back on this evening. My job on New Years is to stay home and worry about the teens being out and about...UGGGGG :scared1:

Hey...with the surrey I'd always find my vehicle in the parking lot. :lmao:

Love the Mardi Gras siggie idea. Hope it can be made smaller.

I want to wish all my fellow TKs a very Happy & Safe New Year.
party:
I wish you peace of mind - especially if you are waiting for teens (kids) to come home safe tonight. And I hope we'll keep this thread going strong in 2008!!!

Love the mardi Gra siggie, hope someone can down size it and maybe I'll figure out in 08 how to do those things:rotfl2:. For those heading out, be safe! For those staying home enjoy! :grouphug: to all, talk to you next year!

Happy New Year everyone

I come with news......

The powers that be ( AKA The Webmasters) have said that the long standing threads need to be moved to the Community board.

BUT before I move you guys I wanted to ask you to think about something
on the CB there is already a thread with "THREAD KILLERS" in the title
and It could get confusing.........

So would you guys come up with a new title for your group and let us know.

One of us will be moving this thread in a few days and once we do we won't be able to edit the title for you anymore.........

anyway think about it and I'll check back

just stopping in for a quick hello, and a very happy, healthy new year!!!

talk to you tomorrow

I don't know why the pedals are there, maybe to rest your feet upon.:) Is it your knees? DH has knee trouble and is in line for a replacement.

You take care of yourself!! I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Bopsmom. Yup, it's the knees. They were both replaced 13 years ago, and I never got all the bend I should have. but ya know what? I can walk! So I'm cool with that. Oh, and I'm feeling MUCH better, thanks!!

whgrn-that trip sounds wonderful. I have eaten scrapple, even like it, but don't know if I can wrap my mind around what is in haggis. You try it and let us all know how it is. :goodvibes We have a Celtic Festival here each year around my birthday. Nothing like spending my birthday looking at a bunch of men in kilts. Hope you feel better soon.

There's a Celtic Festival in Bethlehem??? WHY don't I know about this?? Most of my family went to Lehigh, and my aunt and uncle live there, and I've NEVER heard of this! When? Where? Did you mention men in kilts? I am SOOO there! (Unless, of course, I'm in Scotland at the time....) And yes, I'll be sure to pass on the review of Haggis!

I would offer to send mine, but I'm terrible about giving books away!

What's scrapple? Where have you had it?

I will most certainly be "putty" over there! Funny thing is, as much as I LOVE the accent, it's hard as heck to actually understand a word they are saying!

OK, the book isn't all that long, 498 pages, but it's a hardcover, so NOT what you want to carry on the plane! Never heard of Diana Gabaldon. I may have to check her books out. 800 pages? That's right up my alley. I devour books too, so the longer the better.

Scrapple, like Haggis, is made from the organs of an animal (in Scrapple, it's a hog, in Haggis it's a sheep), miscesllaneous meat scraps, spices, and I think cornmeal (Haggis uses oatmeal). It's made into a loaf and then you slice it and fry it. I grew up eating it. I think it's a PA Dutch thing--I know my Dad always ate it, and he and his Dad both went to Lehigh, so they would have likely picked it up there. I just know I LOVE it! They sell it at Uncle Bill's Pancake House in Cape May, and I always get it when we go there.

LOL, that'd be a hoot! We rented one one year in Cape May. It was hysterical. It was me and two girlfriends, and of course I couldn't pedal. I was VERY heavy then too. We tried so hard to get around in it, but we'd come to a small hill, and the two of them just didn't have the strength to get the 3 of us up the hill. It was soooo funny!:rotfl2:

OK, I totally get moving to the CB. But change our name??? It's who we ARE!!! "They" are titled "Who Feels Like A Thread Killer?" WE are called "Thread Killers Unite!" That shouldn't be too confusing.

JMHO

Happy New Year everyone!! Yes, it's 10 minutes to midnight, and I'm here in front of the TV with my DD and DS and DDog, reading on the Dis!! What a thrilling life I lead...

Just want to clarify what Kayla said. You don't HAVE to change your name. We just wanted to give you that option in case you wanted it. It may get confusing for you and the other thread over there. You are right, they are titled "Who Feels like a Thread Killer".

It is up to you all. We just didn't want to move you without a warning and without giving you the option to change or even "tweak" your name if you want to. The OP of the thread can change or tweak the title anytime or we can as long as it is stil on this board. Once it moves over there we can't help you if you change your mind.

Just let us know! :)

Thanks for the "heads up" if we have to tweak our name, to make us stand out as the wonderful people we are; I vote that we now call ourselves something like:

"The United Site of Thread Killers"
:goodvibes Just MHO

Happy New Year everyone! Its snowing AGAIN! Another six inches--this is crazy! This wasn't even predicted...we'll have to leave super early for JFK this afternoon. I just hope my flight isn't delayed.

Wow, did NOT expect to hear that we would be moved to the community board. I read the Budget Board a lot and they have way longer standing threads than ours! I like the fact that we were sort of the "welcome wagon" to the lonely Zero responses. While I do understand the intention, I kinda felt that being on the welcome board helped out other newbies/scaredies on the Dis. I've never even looked on CB. I hope new friends can find us there. I can respect the wishes of the Webmasters.

I guess as OP, I can change the title before our move. I'd like to ask everyone to vote and offer opinions about our new title as to avoid any potential confusion with the "others".

I like the "United Site of Thread Killers" but perhaps we should add recovering? former? to it? We don't want to scare some people off!

Kaylajr....how many days do we have to decide on our new name before we get moved? I'm leaving tonight for a trip to Asia and will not be able to check the Dis until I land on Friday. If possible, by that time we as a group would have agreed on our title for finality and then we could be moved to the CB. I'm not leaving for the airport until this afternoon, so I'll wait for your decision.

MagiKitty, I am actually going to have to move you today. I will probably do it later this afternoon to give you all a chance to talk, and me a chance to have some coffee ;) We have already moved 2 threads.

You will be able to change the title yourself at anytime, regardless of what board you are on. So if you want to wait until you get back from your trip to change it you can, or make a change now and change it again if you feel like it is not working. And really, you dont' have to change it at all, we just wanted to give you all the heads up so you didn't have confused members wandering into the wrong thread. ;) And we just wanted to make sure we gave you the opportunity to have us help if you needed it before the move.

I will check in with you all later or you can always PM me. :)

Hi Lovestoscrap! I LOVE to read your posts btw. I chuckle at your other thread at work all the time (The one telling about your group trip...funny stuff..I am still in 2006 so don't spoil the ending haha). :goodvibes

Magikitty, enjoy your trip!!!! Being moved to the community board is kinda like an honor the way I see it. Your wonderful thread has been recognized as a long standing thread! And remember you thought it would not get past one or two pages. :goodvibes :goodvibes

I don't have a name suggestion, I liked bopsmoms idea a lot.
