i'm so sad i missed the disney special on the travel channel! i LOVE to watch them. i'm going to check my tivo and see when they're on again.

i know we talked about how great digital cameras are, but tivo is the best invention EVER! i tell everyone that they will change your life. any tivo lovers out there??!

I love my tivo!! Finally got one about 2 1/2 years ago, don't know what I did without it. I didn't realize it was a Dis marathon on the Travel channel would have loved to see it!

When you go into your season pass manager, there a wish list (or some thing like that) and you hit the letters to spell out a actors name or a movie or Disney and then it will record anything that comes on.

Well just wanted to check in, tried doing some online shopping this morning, didn't get to far. DD wants the knitted Uggs, but since Oprah had it on her favorite things show forget it can't get them. They've been out a couple of years, and as soon as I saw she showed them, I thought here we go they will be sold out! and they are. Gotta run check in later. Happy shopping .

OMG I LOVE my tivo!!!!! The greatest invention of the modern age! I can never manage to stay up late enough to watch the shows I love that are on at 10 pm, and now I don't have to! I actually put my tivo in my bedroom and got the DVR from the cable company for the family room. Now I can tivo Jay Leno (well, I WAS, and will again when this stupid strike is over...) and watch it the next night at 9:30 or so as I'm falling asleep! And I can record 2 shows at once on the DVR, so Tuesday night at 10 I can do Boston Legal AND Law & Order SVU, and watch them whenever I want.

Who needs a VCR? That is soooooo 1980s!

Good afternoon everyone! Its rainy and chilly here, things should get slick by evening. Yuck yuck yuck.

A big box of Dale and Thomas popcorn should be at my house today. Perfect to watch MORE Disney specials on the Travel Channel. Starts 6p EST, with Animal Kingdom, WDW Behind the Scenes, and a new episode: Disney Holiday Magic with Samantha Brown. I'm already bugging BF that we need to watch it. He's like, "but we were THERE", but its just fun to see it all again.

Did anyone watch Jon and Kate plus 8 last night? They went to the World. Bless their hearts...eight little ones at WDW! They were really cute too. I'm Asian, and my BF is white, so I imagine that's what our little babies would look like...IF we were had any. But my ovaries were crying a little last night, so it may have to enter negotiations sooner rather than later.

Happy Birthday little one of PrincessPac. fellow Sagittarians. We're fabulous.

I do not have TiVo, but I have heard great things about it. I just got DirecTv in the last few months and I'm STILL figuring things out. If you happen to have DirecTv too, don't be scared, but they changed the color scheme today. Its really really bright. I just ordered a DVD recorder, so I may not need TiVo, not to say I would refuse it if it were an option.

Been tracking my online purchases and it looks like the UPS, USPS, and FedEx men will be darkening my doorstep tomorrow. One of them has to be cute...

The joys of kitten ownership at Christmas - Yesterday I look in my Christmas tree and see two dark eyes looking at me almost eye level. After removing kitten, I hear him trying to get in tree and I spray him with water. He's ticked off but everything is quiet. I leave room to greet DH home from work. I go back into room and tree is knocked over and the stand is broken. Luckily (or lazily) I hadn't put lights or ornaments on it yet.

I would call DTV back and tell them you want a Tivo. We just switched to FIOS (let them talk me in to it) and are NOT happy with the DVR. I miss my Tivo so I think we are going back to Direct TV.

MagiKitty-DD made me a small Disney wreath over the weekend. We got almost everything from our dollar store too. And you were right on about the time. It's on the wall right next to the computer so I can look at it while I sit here and try to catch up on everything.

We don't have TiVo. In fact, until I looked it up, wasn't too sure what it exactly was (sad, I know). Heck, we didn't even get our first computer until 2 years ago. Anyway, those of you that have it, what can you tell me about it? I looked it up on-line and it seems pretty reasonable. I see there is a fee per month. Do you need to have somebody come hook it up or do you do it on your own?

I was just watching the new Samantha Brown show on the Holiday at Disney and got all teary eyed when they lit the castle. It's a sickness I tell you, a sickness. I'm so ready to go. It's hard to wait until Feb. I can't even see the bottom of my ticker anymore, so I'm not even sure how long it is until then. I suppose I could figure it out, but that would require more math than I like to do.

i'm ashamed to say the same thing happened to us. i guess the fios guy came by like 10 times, they were relentless, like little gnats!!! my husband finally gave in. it was a summer night, we were having hamburgers and hot dogs on the deck. get this - i wound up feeding him 2 hamburgers!!! and he asked for another one he saw on the plate - it was the one my dd didn't finish - i was not giving it to him!!!
i kid. he was a nice guy and everything but the dvr is HORRIBLE!!! it's not made by tivo so it tries to be good, but it's no where near as user friendly. the guy did NOT tell us the dvr was not made by tivo.

i fully agree, if you have directv call them and say you NEED tivo!!!! you'll love it. i'm not sure if it still works this way, but i don't see why not. a guy (maybe a cutie!!) comes to the house and hooks it up. it cost something little, like $5 a month (i just had it in 1 room - i think it's 5 a room per month). i also paid off the machine itself over 1 year (i think i got a promotional thing it was $99).

so now, that great dvr is in my basement, so when i switch back to directv (like i want to), i'll have it.

pepperw23 - i think we could talk for a long time about the differences, right? i thought i would get used to it after a while. we've had it now for about 5 months, and just yesterday i was saying "i miss the tivo!"

Morning TK's, I am really going to try to get some things done today!! Did go get the tree's yesterday. I also pick up my DM's, so now just need to get the lights on and decorate it so little time(takes very long, I started checking out how Dis, does there lights a few years back and decided thats how I should do it). I also am the one who does DM's tree, so much to do and time, is running out. Tried checking in last night and I couldn't get on the boards. My DH say always teases he's going to block me, every time he walks passed and see's I'm on. I thought oh no I can't access the boards. Received a early Christmas gift yesterday from DB. It's pretty cool, a coco latte machine. Makes batches of hot coca and keeps it warm and dispenses individual cups. Sent 4 different kinds of coca too! It was suppose to be wrapped shipped from the catalog co., but they messed up so when I opened it they were right there in the carton. One is for DS, I figured it was from him but his name was no where on the order form, so when I called him to ask, he wanted to know why I opened my gift early. Morning everyone! (insert scary music here) Its delivery day! My Target dresses are scheduled to arrive. I have to get a girdle on and hope for the best. Dang, I shouldn't have eaten that popcorn last night.

Dale and Thomas is "gourmet" popcorn from New Jersey. They offer $20 gift cards all over the place, I think the newest promo is a gc with purchase of the Nanny Diaries dvd. The cheapest thing is $28 for six foot long bags of popcorn--but the popcorn is GOOD. I like the white chocolate-peanut butter flavor, and the Georgia Southern pecan. Yum yum. I ate "some" rotfl: ) last night while watching the Disney special.

AUdisfan, I loved the show too! The one that gets me is the Osbourne family lights, although the show didn't do them justice. Its one of our favorite things to do. Just sit there and gape and all the lights. I'm also a holiday music freak, so I dance in the street (everyone should do this once in a while) and just laugh. And it finally settled an argument between BF and I about the Cinderella Suite. I keep telling him its INSIDE the castle, and he thinks I'm nuts. Ha, ha, I was right. I wish they'd do the Haunted Mansion at WDW like the Nightmare before Christmas like they do in Cali--that looked cool!

dreamininpa...I'm so glad that you guys made the wreath! Isn't it amazing just how easy it was? Mine's been a great hit--I'm thinking of making one for Valentine's day, and Easter, and just about any excuse to make a Mickey head to display.

I got DirecTv through Verizon (all my stuff is bundled), I wasn't even offered the Tivo. I'll call back later today. DirecTv guy was so cute last time! (gosh, I'm a sucker for redheads) Fios isn't even offered in my area, so I can't be bullied into it. But good to know that its not exactly what its promised to be. Thanks for the info! Magnsden, that was so nice of you to give the tekkie guy a hamburger.

OOOH...cocoa machine sounds yummy. I got the Senseo coffee maker earlier this year, but the caffeine was driving me crazy! I had stomach pains and could not sleep well at all. I've heard about making my own coffee pods, but I haven't had a chance to try. But the machine is so cute. What a thoughtful gift!

Hello everybody else. DS, DD, and I watched Holidays at Disney on the Food network last night. They showed so many wonderful decorations. I wish I was there. We always go in September (free dining) I would love to fit in a short vacation during the Christmas season to just see the decor. Not in the budget this year. The gingerbread from the Grand Floridian looked delicious. Has anybody tasted it?

I had to jump in on this one...I had seen the Gingerbread house at GF on TV last year and it was on my list of things to see this year! We had scheduled a Photopass session at GF this time, and I was excited to visit the hotel for the first time.

Let me tell you, the way it looked on TV did not to it justice. The smells! It just permeates the lobby, and the house itself is enormous! They give out little bits of samples. i'm not usually a fan of gingerbread, but this was really good stuff. I know you can even have a mini version sent to your house or buy a kit there. Everything except the hardware is edible! They also give you the recipe, but I lost it somewhere.

They also have a smaller gingy house at the food court of the American Pavillion in EPCOT. They're both absolutely incredible.

I hope everyone is warm and safe-especially you guys that got ice. DH has been gone for a week-got back last night.

I am at 180day for ADR's so I have been spending a lot of time with TGM.
I have received no input from rest of party going. DBIL says, "I don't want to plan that far ahead, we'll just go to (insert event here) when we get there."
Like DN will be having breakfast with Cinderella without a 180day ADR Super Auntie to the rescue!

DD is performing her 1st solo in the Christmas program today (she's an elf)
I am one of those crying Moms you see sniffing in the audience-it embarasses her to no end.

I'm not a picture taking person, unfortunately, but I love Photopass! (I was so sad that it rained during MVMCP so that we only got 1 Photopass picture) DH videos everything, and DD takes lots of photos, and I just like to enjoy looking at everything. I've never done a TR, but I might just try one!

We got a free sample of the gingerbread and it was delicious. It has a thin layer of chocolate on the back and anything with chocolate is yummy!

I'm so jealous of all you who have Tivo (and all those channels). We only have basic cable (13 channels) and even when we had cable we didn't have the Travel channel, so I've never seen any of the Disney specials.

Today I'm giving DD an early birthday present! She will be 17 on Dec. 20 and loves Peter Pan (all the movies). The Alabama Shakespeare Festival is doing a play of Peter Pan this weekend and I got us tickets for Saturday (great seats too!) I'm giving her a card I made with a Photopass picture of the two of us in front of the castle with Tinkerbell in our hands (and she's wearing her Peter Pan shirt) with the tickets inside. I know she'll be so excited!
