Just popping by, I'm "legitimately" online to get a recipe and some shopping lists, and wanted to steal a moment to say "hi." Haven't been on since Saturday, so I'll have to catch up later. DS wants Bob the Builder to "talk" to him, so, time to do my best Bob impression... see ya'!

BTW - I know this is a few pages back, but I decided to try the tshirt transfer thing, and they had them onsale at AC Moore this week. If anyone has one near, it was "Printworks". 5 sheets of paper (several varieties) for, I think, $5.50. It was about 40% off.

Since were're going back to our childhood and getting comments from the kids... Just thought I would throw out this---The long hair of the Beatles. Does anyone remember the outrage because their hair was sooo long? The kids now probably laugh too.

I was pretty young when they were still actively together, but my DS now has "mop top" hair, just like the Beatles, who he ADORES!!!

I had to google Randolph Mantooth but when I saw him I recognized him from his General Hospital days! Can we say yummy? The pics of his on IMDB show a distinguished looking very attractive gentleman. I must say, Shmu, your daughter has good taste. I didn't even know about that tv show Emergency--so she's well versed in popular culture also!

I don't remember the Beatles in their heyday, but I do remember when John Lennon was shot, it was the day before my birthday. I remember wondering what the big hoo-ha was about. I later discovered the Beatles and their music. I must say though, I'm a fan of early, short hair Beatles. And a huge fan of Paul's Wings phase.

Ooooh, Randolph Mantooth. I remember him! And I LOVED that show, Emergency!!! Hard to believe he's 60 now. Geeze, I'm gettin' old:rotfl:

And I totally agree--I prefer the early, short hair Beatles. The music then was so sweet and innocent, not the wacked out druggie stuff from later on.

Killers are so multitalented. pixiedust:

Just wanted to share----I feel so  ! I posted my opinion about the Hoop De Doo Review. I said I had never given a negative review but...and I said why I didn't enjoy the show. I waited for flames or to be ignored but got a nice response...'M&N, thx a mint for your frank opinion. I don't think posters ever need to feel bad about posting a "negative review" - it's your take and completely valid.'

OK, you need to be SLAPPED!!! And I'm just the old woman to do it! 26?!? You're just a BABY!!! Dear God, I could be your (gasp!) MOTHER!!!!:scared1:

OK, so consider yourself slapped young lady!:lmao:

Mama Wendy
47 years old and DAMN proud of it!!!

Wow, just kidding there whgrn. Didn't mean to upset you. My sarcasm again, gets me in trouble. (You know that I am such a stinker!!!!) I am much older than 26. In fact, instead of my mother, you could only be my sister. :cutie: Hope that makes you feel better. Friends again????

Bopsmom - I sure wish I was younger. I'd order one of those pillows from you too.

Shmu - I do remember Emergency. It was my favorite show when I was little. My DH is collecting the series. It sure brings back memories.

Magikitty - Don't ever let anyone count you out!!! You are not an old maid/crazy cat lady. Things will all happen in time. In the mean time, TRAVEL, as much as you can.

Have a good evening Killers! Hope you are someplace warm.

Of course!! I wasn't upset at all--just concerned that someone else might have taken me the wrong way.

Glad to know that you're not really such a young chickie! (not that it matters, really, age is just a number...

I remember watching the show with my family. Started watching it when I was 5. Have to say, I had a crush on Randolph Mantooth too. My daughter gets it from me I guess. I remember him on General Hospital too. Never really been big into Soap Operas, but watched it a few times just because he was on there.

Shmu - I do remember Emergency. It was my favorite show when I was little. My DH is collecting the series. It sure brings back memories.
We have been watching the 4th season my daughter bought today. On earlier seasons, we have noticed a few "unknown" actors at the time in the show. Melissa Gilbert and even John Travolta. Funny to see them from the 70's.

How about a these for the Moms:lmao: I tossed in Mantooth for SHMU's DD:goodvibes

   Memories of Puppy Love Crushes. I'll have to show this to my DD tomorrow morning. She is in bed for the night right now. She'll love it.:flower3:

A while back DD and I did some searching on the net about him. He is a very decent man. He goes around speaking with firefighters all over the country. He is a huge supporter of firefighters and lets them know they are the real heroes, not him.:thumbsup2

Thanks for the eye candy there bopsmom. Hubba hubba!! I too had the same crush on Richard Mantooth way back when. Man do I loves me some George and some Matthew.:lovestruc

lots to comment on but FIRST...........

i love love love matthew mcconnaughey. love him.
ever since this first time i saw him in dazed and confused. however, much hotter as time went on.

patrick dempsey is a hottie too. thanks bopsmom!

the sheet set we got maggie has a pillowcase with belle on one side and cinderella on the other. i think i'll need to make one with matthew and patrick (or george, can't decide) on the other for myself. mmm mmm mmm.

ok on to other stuff! i don't remember that show emergency. maybe a little before my time. but i DO remember another show called ER (not the er of today). george clooney was on that show too! i don't know if i saw him first on that or the facts of life. another one we never missed!

m&n - that's great that someone appreciated your review. i think many times, people just find it easier to flame and go along with others. it shouldn't be that way, because you must have had some valid points to feel negatively about it. and other people are reading reviews to get a feel for whatever it is. so you go girl!!!

lighttech - that is so cute - he wants bob the builder to talk to him! so what did you do, call him and talk like bob? too cute! the things we moms will do.

shmu - how nice that your DD still enjoys spending time with you (even in her teen years). it's nice to hear of such a great relationship with your kids! you must have done a great job!

more to say. next post.

did i mention i LOVE matthew mcconnaughey?

Thanks. We try to keep a very relaxed, humorous atmosphere in our home. I use to be tight wound when I was younger and first married. I have loosened up A LOT over the years.
One thing we have always tried to do with both our kids is to have "dates" with them. We have been doing this since they were little. Trying to strive for that one on one time. With DD it started out having "tea parties" and now we have advanced to Starbucks. We'll go grab a Starbucks coffee, head to a parking lot and drink our coffee and just talk. (That way no one can accidently overhear anything.) We had a Mother / Daughter get together over the holidays and she shared with everyone that those times are special to her. Little things do count.

I also take my DS out regularly too and my DH makes sure he takes each one out regularly.
I was thinking about Valentines Day coming up and I have to say of all the Valentines Days I have ever had last year was the best. I had a date with my DS and my DH had a date with our DD. They are both in their teens so this day usually becomes more of "Single Awareness Day" and can be depressing. My husband even bought my DD a stuffed animal and chocolates. She felt very special.

So I guess my advice to anyone with kids is to make sure you take that time to just be with them. Life is so hectic and can steel all our time away. Make sure you write on the calendar special dates with your kids. No matter what age they are.:thumbsup2

Morning guys, cant' believe I wasn't on since yesterday morning:scared1:. really can't post, but wanted to say hi, be back later. As usual read what I missed, and too funny:rotfl2:

what a great idea! i did a lot of that when my son was first born. my daughter had just turned 2 and needed some of that special time with mom that she had so much of before. i could tell she needed it because she would say "can you put that baby down and play with me?". that's funny, huh? only as they get older, they don't really ask for it, do they? i remember as a kid when i was around 10 and on, i'd go with my mom on our "special days" and looking back, i loved them.
now, my daughter and i go to church together just us. mainly because i know my son would be a maniac and i wouldn't get to listen. i think in a few months we'll all go together and i'll let my husband be on dennis duty!

i missed the whole day too. come back when you can. and have a great day!

anyone read or reading the pillars of the earth?
i was looking for a good huge book, and i found it before i knew it was an oprah book. i'm about halfway in, and i LOVE it! i'm so happy i found another book by him and it takes place in the same town only a few centuries later, i think. i hate when you finish a great book that you loved, and there's no more. so i'm glad i found the second one.

Morning everyone! Its gray, rainy and windy here. Perfect for a good book! I've heard so much about Pillars of the Earth, good reviews, and I love fat books! I read so quickly little books just aren't a good investment for me. I try to go to the library, but I have this strange problem with having to give books back. I know, its pretty bad. I got a gift card for Borders that I'm dying to use, so maybe I'll go pick it up whenever I get to the mall next.

Oh! I remember that ER also! It was a comedy though. It was fun. Wonder if its on DVD too.

Matthew McConaughey is definitely my first choice too. What a hunk of man he is. I don't find McDreamy so attractive, but he has THAT LOOK. He looks at Meredith with that "I love you so much, you're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen" melty look and boy does it make my insides flutter! I tried to point it out to my BF, and he just doesn't get it. Or maybe he's pretending.

I still go on dates with my mom! We try to have shopping dates, and we always stop for coffee somewhere and share stories. It was just her and I on this last trip to the Phils and its interesting to think about how our dynamic has changed as we both have aged. We're more friends and confidantes now, but when I was younger, she was definitely more parent that best friend. There are just boundaries that must be set as you grow, and foremost you have to respect and love as a parent-child. I appreciate her so much more now.

Good day all! Stay warm and safe. Talk to you throughout the day.

PS--is everyone still getting email notifications? It seems I'm only getting a select few. When I go to a particualr thread, I've been notified of one, but there's been half a dozen posts that I had missed.

Good Morning!!!
Home today w/ the kids. All schools CLOSED due to the -35 windchills. :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: (There just aren't enough of these little guys to convey how COLD it is today. But at least we have the day off. :yay:

Magikitty - Just got done reading "90 Minutes in Heaven". Have to look for Pillars of the Earth next. We live in walking distance to the library so I have been going there more often. No problem giving books back here.

Bopsmom - Thanks for the adult pillow idea. However, the "hunky" guys of yesterday kind of lose something today. I guess I am not into older men. Once they go grey, I lose interest. I think I am the only woman who does not think grey is distinguished on a man. I'll think about some guys I would like to see on my pillow and get back to you.

Stay warm everyone!!!

Morning everyone!

I never got a chance to post yesterday...stepmom had me hunting for flower girl dresses. We have it narrowed down to 3, I hope. :rotfl: I never knew there were so many different kinds of dresses out there.

D&DDisney-I thought it was cold here but it's nothing compared to what you posted. How do you stand it? I don't think I would ever leave my house in the winter.

MagiKitty-I get the notifications for a few days and then they just stop for a few days. Kinda of a pain but at least the boards are still running fast.

Shmu-what a great idea about those dates with your kids. We try to do that with our kids but with 4, it's hard. And since DH works long hours everyday, that doesn't help. We pull it off once in a while and when we do, it really is great.

Bopsmom-OMG! Those designs were so great. I wonder if DH would notice if I put one on my pillow? :lmao: Do you take requests? :rotfl2:

Okay, I thought of 2 "pillow people" from LOST...

:thanks: I don't know about your DH, mine hasn't made a bed in 15+ years so he would never see it;)

Oh, Like, OhhhMyyyyyGawd!!:rotfl: , I didn't tell you that I am taking DD to see the (JoBros) on Valentine's Day..:lmao: We got tickets the day they went on sale. We are going with some really fun friends of mine and their daughter's -friends of DD's. I guess this would be kinda like date night. We're gonna make DH drive us into town (the best Chinese place is next to the areana).
The saving grace for the Mom's is that we are in the Club Level-which means just steps away from a full-service bar. :drinking:::yes::
Here are the expected emotions:
:scared1::hyper::lovestruc :faint::dance3: :grouphug: :jumping1: not to mention screaming and singing!
This will be my 4th tween-scream concert in 2 years-trust me bar location is crucial!

DH is taking DD to our Middle School production of Wizard of Oz the weekend before(the girls will be in that school next year). She and her friends didn't want to do the Father/Daughter Dance:sad1: -getting too old-it's sad the same group of guys have been taking the girls since they were about 6 years old. Time's are changin' I guess. It's nice that the fathers and daughers like to do the group date thing, that way the tradition might last until they are older teens.
