Hi Everyone, every time I get caught up I fall behind:sad2:, I may have to stop doing what needs to be done and just stay on the boards:rotfl: So here goes multi quoting away.

Morning!!!

Nope, Brad Paisley doesn't sing Austin...that's Blake Shelton. But he's a hottie too especially since his haircut. We got that horrible rain too. All night and most of the early morning. Even saw some lightning! Please post that recipe. I'm always looking for something new to make. :goodvibes

 Shmu

Okay, got it. They both are good eye candy:laughing:. My DN 'dated' Shelton briefly, when he first started out w/Austin. Will be posting it later, I promise. It is soooo good.

Good morning!

i've been missing from our thread for a long time. sorry i missed out on soooo much. i haven't been on the computer since before the weekend. i'm going back to TRY to catch up!

i miss you all!

:cheer2: , your back we were worried about you!!!

Yippee! :yay: Magsnden is back! We missed you.

Oh, that Blake Shelton is one long cool drink of water. I agree dreamin, he looks much better with his hair cut.

disney54us - I'm so glad you finally got the recipe! You'll definetely have to post it for us. I was just trying to think of some kind of dip to have for everyone to munch on while I cook dinner when my family comes over on Easter.

Have a great day killers!

:rotfl2: :rotfl:, I like that one (one long cool drink of water). Will be posting it.:thumbsup2

Afternoon everyone! Been tracking my Roomba and he's expected to arrive today! Weather has been way crazy, we got lots of rain and wind last night, and today it turned to a sleet-slushy mix. It seems to have stopped for now.

143 days until Scotland! The best part is that your itinerary is already planned, no crazy planning for you--except to have fun! One of my best girlfriends attends school in Edinburgh; she's been trying to get me to visit. Of course I would go if the dollar wasn't so weak! I keep hearing to head across the pond in the fall, when costs of flights go down. So whgrn, take lots of pics and notes for us when you get back!

Welcome back Magsnden...we were worried about you!

Ok, clearly I'm out of my country league here with talks of Blake Shelton and Brad Paisley. I'm going to have to check this stuff out. I hardly ever listen to radio anymore---I've been stuck in the 90's for way too long.

disney54us...please post the recipe. You are obviously so enthusiastic about it, my curiousity is piqued. I have to try something that inspired such devotion.

DL55...how did the tent recovery go? Those winds must have been amazing to pull up that tarp with the cables! You were very lucky that it only made it across the yard and onto the fence...it could have gotten away from you altogether!

Who mentioned Virginia Beach? Spent Memorial day weekend last year in the Williamsburg area. Mighty beautiful area there. Found this great Mexican restaurant off Restaurant.com down there that BF and I are STILL talking about. May have to take a trip down there just for the tamales and the margaritas!

I mentioned Va Beach. It is great down there. Did you get to go to the Williamsburg Pottery Factory??? Hows the rumba? Always wondered about them I can't keep up w/ the dog hairs. Might as well have my vaccum attached at the hip.:scared1:

We got the shelter off the fence. :yay: I had to climb into the bush, climb the fence and push against the side of the shelter. Had to ask our neighbor to help roll it upright. A little more damage than initially thought. Two of the corner supports are bent. DH took them to work to see if anyone could straighten them. There are worn spots all over. I pulled out the duct tape and have covered any hole that I could see blue sky through. It's supposed to be breezy today. :scared1: I've unzipped the end doors and have my fingers crossed (it's not attached to anything at the moment).
Onto more pleasant thoughts. I bought my peeps :cloud9: Still trying to resist opening them.:hyper:

:scared1: This is becoming frustrating, I'm sure DH is real happy:rolleyes1 . I asked my DN, where Almagado is ( I know I miss spelled). They grew up in White Sands and my DB's horse went there when my DB and DSil split up. stayed at a ranch of a friend of DB there, the horse that is!

We got lots of rain too, but it was all over by about 9 this morning. Good thing--I had lots to do today!! It was still VERY windy though. Nothing like last night--I thought the house was gonna blow down and/or float away! And the thunder! Naturally, I ended up with DD in bed--she's scared to death of thunder.

143 days will fly by. SO much to do before then!!
WELCOME BACK!!! We missed you!!

My 100 pd dog is scared of the rain too, guess where he end's up?:rotfl:

hi again! i think i'm all caught up.
but now it's nigh-nigh time. i figured i'd use my son's words since it will very likely him i'll be up with tonight. his 2nd molars are coming in and he's had a really tough time with them, the poor boy.

so i'll see you all in the morning. have a good night!

:scared1: molars poor thing, hope he's feeling better.

Besides, if I keep posting, then I didn't kill it.
:rotfl2: to funny, no you won't!!!

Morning everyone...I got my Roomba yesterday. Sadly, he's not pink, but a really cool olive green. I haven't taken him out of the wrapping yet coz I decided to weed out my wardrobe and instead have created a massive disaster! I'm trying desperately to find items to donate, but the mentality of "being wasteful" is so hard to get over. I keep telling myself that "its going to a better home", and I know it. But its so very hard to decide what to keep and what to move out

DL55 - I agree w/ Magikitty. If the cover won't come to you then you have to go to the cover!
:thumbsup2

Dreamin' - It's never too early to plan for vacation. I've already started. :beach: I have to tell you that when we told our DS5 that we were going camping in Colorado, he said "Okay, but next year I want to go to PA." When asked why he wants to go to PA he said "Cause I want to see the crack in the liberty bell." :rotfl: So maybe next year we'll come visit you.

Magikitty - Let me know how you like the Roomba. I've always thought about getting one.

:goodvibes beach, :yay:, Its never too early!

M&N...where do you live? Isn't 90 miles east of Philly called New Jersey? A friend of mine lives outside of Philly, in Blackburn NJ, just across the bridge...

I want to see the Liberty Bell too! We tried last year, but it closes at five, and we were too late. We went to Dave and Busters instead...
Where is Blackburn???

My laughing smilies won't show up for the quote about taking the trailer to the cover. Don't know why... So, here they are now....
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Hi, lighttech, you make me feel better, that I'm not the only one that has trouble w/things like that:goodvibes :confused3

Huh...

I still can't see them.

Can anyone else?

(Maybe I have to clap 3 times and say "I do believe in smilies, I do believe in smilies...)
:wizard: here's a little magic for you!

Okay, almost there, but have to run. Please not to much talking or I'll never catch up:laughing:.

OK, everybody on hold for Disney54us. No new news until at least 7pm tonight! :goodvibes (I'm just teasing as I've asked for this before!!! Everyone seems to be at their chattiest when I have no time whatsoever.)

Bopsmom - Since you are our resident Horticulturalist... I have a question maybe you can help me with...

I have some azaleas in the front that desperately need pruning. They've been out of control since we moved in several years ago. (They don't get enough sun, so they are kind of woody. I think trimming them back would help.) But, I have NO idea how to do that. I'm not sure where I should prune... way back low, or where the branches have a joint, or only new growth??? I've been looking online, and haven't found any help. Do you have any ideas?

:thanks:

OK, I wasn't serious!!! Where is everyone??? :magnify:

:rotfl2: :rotfl:  Okay, thanks I can catch up, I can catch up:worship:.
Be back after finishing multi quoting. Hi Lighttech, to funny:rotfl2:.

Actually, 90 miles east of Philly would be called the Atlantic Ocean!!! :beach:

:rotfl2: The Atlantic Ocean, now that's a good place:thumbsup2

Hmmm, we'll have to come up with a cute name for him. How about "The Gremlin"? I had a friend in HS who drove a green Gremlin, and we called it "The Green Hornet". That could work too.

I can't wait to see pix of him with his googly eyes!!:rotfl:

Hi everyone!!!

MagiKitty-Did you think of a name for the Roomba yet? How about Cha Cha or maybe Kozmo? But you definately need a unique name for it. :lmao:

Well, the wedding plans are moving along just fine and dandy. Now we are working on picking out tuxes. My dad emailed me a couple that he likes and his favorite so far is an old-time gangster style. Yep, that will fit right in with the southern belle, irish, bowling beach theme going on right now. :rotfl2: I guess I forgot to tell you all about the beach theme that she has decided on now. The invitations are going to be mailed in a bottle. This wedding is going to crazy. :rotfl: I may have to buy an extra memory card for this.

magsnden-oh, your poor little boy.

Okay, Love the beach theme:thumbsup2, It's in my heart. So I can't wait to see where this goes.

It won't get the multiquotes from the last page. Actually, I do know where I live. I just don't know how to get there from here. :lmao: I go east to get to Phila. I live west of Phila. I used to live in NJ when I was 4 but that doesn't count. Thanks for finding me.

:rotfl2: :rotfl: to cute!

Wow...I guess I never realized how many TKs live in PA or nearby. (I told you I am slow sometimes):snail:

I can see the smilies though... is that a good thing?:confused3

The kids have a Sock Hop at school tonight :dancer: so I have to bake some goodies and gather some soda liters to donate to the festivities.
We'll be rockin' the night away (at least until 8pm.)

Cute idea a Sock Hop, what age?

OK, everybody on hold for Disney54us. No new news until at least 7pm tonight! :goodvibes (I'm just teasing as I've asked for this before!!! Everyone seems to be at their chattiest when I have no time whatsoever.)

 I feel so special:rotfl2: , just kidding. The same thing always happens to me to. When I'm on, it sort of ends up Hellooooo, anybody out there? Of course when I'm not it seems everyones on and I miss the chat feast:sad2:. Does this revert back to younger days and never being in the right place at the right time?:confused3 :rotfl:

Okay killers, seems it's just me tonight:confused3, go figure. So here is the recipe. I will post how it was posted and then explain (to the best, I can remember). Anyone who follows disney recipes knows that they are not always user friendly;)

SHRIMP AND ARTICHOKE DIP
Olivia's, Old Key West

1lb Cream Cheese (soften)
1 cup heavy Cream
(Whisk above till creamy)

Then add-
1- lb. baby Shrimp Cooked
1- 12 oz. can Artichokes (quartered, drained)
2- oz Parmesan
2-oz shredded Cheddar
1-tsp. Onion Powder
1-tsp. Garlic
1/2 -tsp Kosher Salt
1/2- tsp Black Pepper
1/2- Tsp Parsely Chopped

Okay, so I have bit's n pieces of this, so here goes. Let the cream cheese sit so it softens, you can use a mixer to blend on low until mixed. Then add the following ingredients. As far as the Shrimp, I have found them in some markets very small and cooked (like shrimp coctail) I prefer these even if I cut them in half to those shrimp that look like flies:scared1:, which you can only get in a can. Mix the rest together and I have done this the night before. You can cover and put in frid. and be ready to go. This was always served in 'monkey dishes' aka a very low small baking dish. You could use the corning ware oval that looks like a individual serving dish, or a'gratin type. Bought a set of five cool ones at Ikea, just for this and never could find the recipe. This makes a good amount, so you put it into the individual dishes and bake in the oven on 350. I do remember from the original I had they said sprinkle some of the shredded cheddar on top. bake until the cheese melts and is bubbling. The recipe has varied as what it was served w/it will say serve w/ tomato bagel chip or your favorite crax. The years we had it, it was served with tomato/basil chips. Which were your tomato/basil flour tortilla's you find in the market. brush w/oil and put on a baking sheet. Bake at 325 til crisp, and cut into triangles. They would put the small tray of dip in the center of a larger plate/platter and put the chips around the dip tray. The nice thing is as long as you have a few of the smaller baking dishes, the recipe makes enough to have the serving dishes spread throughout your party.

Enjoy, brings back many happy memories:goodvibes.

Hey everyone!!! Just got home from the mall. :goodvibes Had to see if there were any good sales in the Disney Store. Wasn't much that caught my eye. :guilty: Maybe next week.

disney54us-just read your recipe and that sounds delish. I may have to make it for Easter. Need to try something new and this sounds like it. It's pretty easy to make right?

Be back in a few....gotta get the kids ready for bed.

Hi, dreamin. Yep it is easy, blend and then mix in the rest. Dish it into the small dishes and bake. The chips are easy to, you can bake them in bunches before baking the dip. Sorry to say but the Disney store just isn't what it use to be:sad2:, but Dis sold that so I guess that explains why.

Hey I changed my Avitor:yay:, since that's one of the few things I do know how to do:confused3. Of course there selection is not the best, I can't take the big step of knowing how to do a custom one:rotfl2:. Not sure, I like it, maybe I'll go back to the other one. Yeah board tonight and nobody is on:rotfl: figures, everyone is on when I'm not.
/dreamin, the kids to bed yet????:dance3:

they sure are and DH is watching a movie so I can have the computer all to myself. :cool1:

that settles it, I am making that dip for Easter. Of course, I might be the only one eating it since I am surrounded by the world's pickiest eaters. Do you know how hard it has been looking over the menus for WDW trying to find places that they can eat. As long as we stick to places that serve chicken tenders, plain cheeseburgers (because they don't like ketchup or anything) and pizza, we should be ok. :rotfl2:

Oh sure, I finally get back on here and you disappear. :teleport: Yeah, I'll remember that the next time you are on here all by yourself. :rotfl2: :lmao:

Love the new avatar. I too wish they had better ones on here or at least updated ones.

Hey Guys :wave2:

Hey Bopsmom....I was just thinking about you today. I went out to our local grocery store and guess what they had? CASCARONES!!! I couldn't believe it. I snuck 2 dozen in the shopping cart. Of course, DH had to be a total spoiled sport and complain...."great, now we're going to have confetti all over the house" He's just no fun sometimes. :rotfl2:

BTW, I love all your peep pics. Mind if I borrow a few? DD12 and I are going to start peeping stepmom on Monday and some of your pics would work just perfectly. :goodvibes

Night all.

we are going to the city for dinner and a broadway show!! :cool1: we're seeing "young frankenstein" with another couple, really great friends.
we are lucky to do this at least once a year with them, the boys give us these tickets as part of our Christmas present.

next weekend i'm going into the city for a couple of nights for a girls' weekend. woohoo! we are seeing "mary poppins" and going to something called "the prom" it's like an 80s prom, like tony and tina's wedding, if you've heard of that.

so i'll be busy, but i'll still be here during the week! i miss you guys!
i read everything i missed, and you're all making me laugh! i'll try to stay on as much as i can!

How exciting for you!!! :woohoo: I hope you have a wonderful time at both things. Let us know. DH and I try to get up to NY for some culture now and then, and I'd love some "real people" show reviews instead of just the critics.

Well, back to work. Happy posting everyone.

I think trimming them back would help.) But, I have NO idea how to do that. I'm not sure where I should prune... way back low, or where the branches have a joint, or only new growth??? I've been looking online, and haven't found any help. Do you have any ideas?

:thanks:

Sorry I missed this question.:scared1: Don't trim yet! You might end up loosing this year's blooms.
Please note that down here everything is already in bloom and putting out new growth. You on the other hand might still have time before new growth appears. You have to go out and check your plants to see where they are in their growth cycle.DON'T PRUNE TOO MUCH TOO SOON

I went to all my usual sites and picked this.
Here is the best info I found for you. The Azalea Society (in green) it seems more indepth.

From Clemson:
PRUNING

There are two pruning techniques used for azaleas: thinning and heading.

Thinning refers to the removal of branches back to the main trunk or another branch. This method is used to remove leggy branches that extend beyond the canopy of the plant, remove damaged or diseased wood, or reduce the size of the plant. Thinning allows light to penetrate the shrub, encouraging growth on interior branches. You can thin at any time of the year without causing significant impact on flowering, growth or cold hardiness of the plant. How-ever, to reduce the impact on flowers the following year, prune just after flowering in the spring.

Heading refers to the cutting back of a branch, not necessarily to a side branch. This method is used to reduce the size of a plant, create a hedge or to renew old overgrown plants. Renew overgrown plants by cutting them back to within 6 to 12 inches of ground level. This practice results in abundant new growth by midsummer.

The best time to renew azaleas is before spring growth begins. This allows sufficient time for next year’s flower buds to form in midsummer, and for new growth to mature and harden off for winter. Renewal pruning before spring growth, of course, means that flowers are sacrificed for that year.
After renewal pruning, prune the tips of new shoots when they are 6 to 12 inches long, to encourage branching and a full canopy. Thin out new shoots emerging from the old stem. Keep the soil moist during the period after severe pruning.

Pruning
To avoid losing next year's blooms, you can prune small branches when the plant is in bloom (and enjoy them inside the house) or soon after.

For major pruning, the best time is in early spring before the plant is ready to put out new growth, so it has the full growing season to fill out and for the new growth to mature. When pruning azaleas to reduce height, particularly older plants, it is best to do the pruning in stages, to minimize the shock to the plant.
Before you start to prune, look at the plant you intend to work on, remembering that the branches which are shaded out often die back and become dead wood anyway. These should be removed first, as the effect of removing them may alter the way you approach pruning the rest of the branches to maintain the shape of the bush.
Older plants may have a number of tall branches which need to be eliminated. Remove two or three of the tallest branches, taking care to cut back to a side branch which is heading in the desired direction. Cut close to a side branch, as stubs tend to die back to the side branch and leave dead wood which may become infected later. If you remove a lot of the branches, it is a good idea to mulch around the plant to make up for the reduced shade on the roots. The new shoots, which will appear when the weather warms up, may come from the stubs and from the base of the plant.

Use clean cutters, and sterilize them as the work progresses, particularly after a cut in infected wood. Denatured alcohol is an effective sterilizing agent, as is rubbing alcohol or household bleach.
Next year take out two or three more branches using the same process, spreading the pruning over a three year cycle. This approach will result in the plant sending out new growth near the base, and lets you manage the shaping of the plant to achieve a nicely shaped bush. It also minimizes the shock to the plant.

:ssst: Truth be known, I ripped out all my azelas 3 years ago. Too much work for 1 week of flowers out where I live. We also have issues with soil acidity here. Now, in Mom's neighborhood in Houston they the lovely big ones that bloom and bloom-the Taber/Indica azelas.
Funny, Mom, DD and I were just talking about going to the Azela Trail during spring break.
I don't mind looking at someone else's ones-just don't like the for my yard.
I hope this will be helpful.

Sorry I missed this question.:scared1: Don't trim yet! You might end up loosing this year's blooms.
[

Oh!! Thanks so much!! This is a huge help. The azaleas were there when we moved in, and they really seem to fit the look of the yard, but the yard is much too shady for them. Before ripping them out, I wanted to see if a good prune would redistribute some of the energy and help the plant not to be so leggy. We're on a tight gardening budget, so, although I don't agree w/ a lot of the choices the previous owners made, I'm trying to work with what I have. (I do like the azaleas, I just don't think they were the right choice for our wooded lot.) Also, we are probably going to thin some trees in the next year or so (we had 3 fall on our house during a bad storm 2 years ago and had to get a new roof :scared1: ). We love the woods and picked this house b/c of it, so we don't want to go drastic, but we do want to take down a few that are within striking distance of the house and a few more that don't look so healthy. I'm thinking that when we do this, the azaleas really might thrive.

Anyway, just rambling... I definitely have Spring Fever and just want to get outside. I'm no professional gardener, but I'm growing to love it more and more each year.

Thanks again!

Hello everyone, been offline for a few days now. Finally seem to have gotten the spring cleaning under control, at least for now. Managed to donate two huge bags of clothes and get lots of stuff to the recycling center. This is, of course, all in vain, since SPRING WILL NEVER ARRIVE WHERE I LIVE. Can you tell the rain/sleet has gotten to me?

Still haven't named the Roomba yet, but I have used him and all I can say is that he is AMAZING. I got a refurbished one, but he works just fine. He also comes with a remote and these "walls" so that you can limit the Roomba's cleaning to one room. At first, I was a bit skeptical of his vaccuuming prowess, he just seems to zoom around and bump into everything. But boy does he have heart. He wizzed about my kitched for nearly an hour, doing a far more thorough job than I ever would. I cleaned him out afterward and there was so much dust and cat/me hair in there I was so grossed out. And yes, he did return back to the charger, shortly after singing me a little song.

I'm presently deciding where to place the googly eyes.

So much to catch up, congrats on the weekend in the city, the wedding plans, gardening tips, the yummy recipe that I too plan to try next week, the sock hop, and new teeth.

Oh yes, and so glad to find out that M&N lives west of Philly, and not in the Atlantic Ocean somewhere!
