Thoughts, please...Surgery 5/8

So did you decide on any sort of treat for the big brave guy?

So glad to hear he is doing better!

Hubby promised him that once he went pee onthe potty and let us take the 2nd bandage off (it's till there) he can pick out a big suprise from TRU....so for days he has been talking about his new Millenium Falcon (to the tune of $160!!!). We'll probably go on Thurs for it!

Worth every last penny - huh?

Now that Cody is home and well I'll tell you a tale of when Tara was little.

She had her tonsils out when she was only 3 or 4 years old. She had a terrible time with the anesthesia. She woke up screaming and had terrible nightmares afterwards. While in the recovery unit she said "Everyone is very nice....but no one can help me...."
I nearly died, it was so hard to watch. (And I thanked God that she was otherwise a healthy child...I don't know how parents of really ill children bear it).
Anywayz...about two weeks later she goes for her follow-up and my primary Dr says it looks like something is wrong and I need to see the surgeon. :eek:The surgeon takes a look and says.."Oh, looks like I left some tissue..we'll just go have a second try"...I was furious..but what could I do???
Post 2nd surgery (and anesthesia!), the Dr comes out and as non chalantly as you please says..."Nothing was there, guess I didn't have to go in in the first place."
I literally lunged for him and James had to hold me back. I swear...I lunged. Called him a few choice words and then sent his bill to him torn into itty bitty pieces. He's lucky I didn't sue.

20 years later it still pisses me off!

Rosie,
OMG!!!! What a jerk!

I had heard horror stories (2 in the past 2 months) from good friends hwo children ages 1 and 5 had anestesia and FREAKED out post op, so I was expecting it....but he didn't thankfully (although I think I would have had that rather then him having such a hard time once he got home).

Most likely when we see the ENT he will need to go under again (UGH!) so they can scope him properly and see what exactly is going on with his trachea and vocal cords, there is some swelling there (per the anest.), which he must have all the time (this is the reason for his chronic croup). He's never been intubated before or had any injury to that area so there is no obvious reason for the swelling to be there. One thing at a time right now. We'll get him recovered from this, then move onto the next problem!
