Thoughts on Enchanted Forest Strategy

I find the trips I do less planing are the best I would not do an hour by hour plane but a we have a ADR for XX place at this time and these are our FP then may be a few it would be nice to do XYZ. and see what pixie dust blows your way or if something looks fun do it. and talking to someone that went to disney 50 days last year and already 15 days this year. there will be no way to do and see every thing ( I just did the bell thing for the first time in January)

Totally hijacking here, but had to pop in just because I had no idea what "Enchanted Forest" meant! I thought I was pretty up on all things Magic Kingdom and had never heard it referred to as that. Just always thought of it as part of Fantasyland! Learn something new every day....

I could be all wrong on the terminology, but I figured New Fantasyland was split into Enchanted Forest and Storybook Circus - at least it looks that was to me.

I too never heard of it I think the OP came up with it

I'm sure I will - y'all will be sick of me by the time I go. LOL If it tells you anything, I firmly decided we were indeed going to Disney a month ago and I have changed my hour by hour plans 3 times already. I know all of this will change and become firmer and more up-to-date as time passes and hours are released/confirmed, ADRs are made and FP+ rezzies are done. Once I have everything in place for what times the shows and such are actually happening and EMH and all that fun stuff, I will tailor a plan based on the kids' wants (and needs) - and then I will probably revise it half a dozen times in the month before we go. :rotfl2:
Good luck! If you haven't already, I suggest checking out easyWDW.com, specifically his Cheat Sheet sections. He's got some great touring plans, along with a ton of other information, and it's free. Don't be afraid to switch up your FP's if you feel like you need to. I think you'll be able to accomplish a lot more if you concentrate on hitting as many rides as possible at rope drop. Have fun planning!

Probably this whole plan will go out the window the moment we step foot into Disney and their little eyes go as big as saucers and it will be a "on the fly, whatever we do" kind of thing. The great thing is that this is not an end-all, do-all trip... this is a starter trip for me to get a feel on how well the boys will handle a big trip, which by the way is already in planning stage, for 2021 during early November where I plan to hit every park at least once and go for a week.

Personally, I think it's smart to have a plan. I think the way you're splitting the day up is just fine. You can be flexible and still have an idea of the order you want to do things in, which is what it sounds like you're doing.

week long trips are the best ( I did 3 6 days trips last year) on these you do not feel rushed at all and can go slower. I just did a 6 days trip 3 weeks ago and have another planed for latter this year and maybe another one latter this year.

I definitely got it from somewhere. As creative as I am and as much as I'd like to take credit, I sadly did not come up with the terminology, just repeated it here.

Just had never heard it before! You obviously found it somewhere so I'm sure some people might use it...but I think you'll find most people won't know what you're referring to! I was thinking it was a completely different park and was curious about it. Then opened it and saw all this Magic Kingdom stuff and was totally confused!

And plans are great for a general guideline. Just be totally ready to drop them all in a heartbeat!

We have a very specific touring plan for each day (we are my parents over 65, my boys under 5, and me) and I like that I have a plan, but like you, I know the plan can be tossed if needed. I think its good to have an idea. And you sound very reasonable about having to change on the fly. Do what works best for you!

Of course, while I may be keen to changing on the fly and my oldest and youngest may be keen to change on the fly, one person who does NOT adapt well to change is my middle son (my Aspie with SPD). Changing on the fly is one of his triggers, which is why I won't be sharing the final schedule with any of the kids. Yes, it will likely be calculated and precise for ME, but it will be on the fly to them. It just has to be.

Another thought - SDMT directly after breakfast? Is it jerky enough to make someone queasy or is it generally okay right after eating?

it is a smooth ride for the most part some times near the end the stop is a little jerky unless you or your boys have a very sensitive stumic I think you should be fine. if you done with breakfast before park opens and can get there then yes this is a great idea and this is if you can if not I would do PP as the line is very cool

as fair as your middle child not liking change I would let him know that some times rides closes for no reason and some times for a long time just so that you are prepared for this.

It won't matter unfortunately. It's one of his 'things.' I can redirect, but if he's deadset on an attraction and it can't be ridden, we may have a meltdown regardless of how prepared he was for it to happen.

2:00 PM – Sign up for Sorcerer’s of the Magic Kingdom (Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe)

The Sorcers of the Magic Kingdom near Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe is no longer open, you have to go the Firehouse on Main Street to set up the game.

This is when I will bring out the quiet distractions and put him in the stroller to continue on our day. I don't let him act like a brat without repercussions, but I do have to be slightly more lenient with his temper-tantrums when they are triggered by sudden changes to his schedule. This child keeps ME on time and on-task with appointments and activities/practices/games and he's 6! That is how obsessed with schedules he is - and he likely comes by it honestly (since I am obviously a bit fussy with them) compounded by his Asperger's and it can be a disaster if something changes suddenly. Like I said though, I am always armed with distractions.

this is good are you planing on getting a stroller as a wheel chair tag this can help give him a place to go if when he need too also a few things to keep him busy I pad, a new toy that he can play with in his stroller. dose he have a hard time with noise ear protectors help with this, light sunglasses hat or hoodie can help with this. smells a pice of cloth with his avert smell on it. people touching him stroller can help with this.

also if you are going to a ride you could say lets see how long PP is if it is too long or not open then we can see about small world. even with wait time when you get there the wait can change.
