Hello everyone!

My DF and I are trying to plan our ADR's for our honeymoon in September/October 2009. We plan on meeting a friend who lives in Orlando that night and going to Jellyrolls so we want to go somewhere on the Boardwalk or that vicinity. We've done ESPN, Spoodles and Beaches & Cream on past trips and the other places really don't appeal to us. We thought about going back to the old faithful ESPN and then I thought of Big River Grill and Brewing and knew if I asked on the Disboards, I would definitely get some great opinions. :). Who out there has been to Big River and what did you think? I checked out the menu and it seemed pretty good but who knows ? :confused3

I liked the BRG. Great for a quick meal and their beer sample was nice. Good choice right before Jellyrolls.

I used to love it, but the food and service have gone downhill in the past two years. We just don't go there anymore; too many bad experiences. :-(

FYI, Spoodles is closing. Kat Korra (sp?) will be opening a new Greek restaurant in that spot.

I go to BRG at least once every trip. The beers are really good, the food is fine (not great, but substantially better than ESPN, which is horrible!) and I have always had good service there. If you have never been, defintiely give it a try and decide for yourself!

I'd say give it a shot. The one time we went, it was naaaaasty, with unbussed tables, crud on the floor, and the worst single restroom I've ever visited at WDW. Maybe their cleaning crew was on strike or something.

I'm not a germaphobe, but this was pretty bad.

There are multiple threads on this subject. I personally think it's great. I've had great experiences the two times I have eaten there. June 2008 we ate inside, October 2007 we ate outside. Food and service was great.

Here is a picture of the grilled meatloaf.

My dh and I enjoyed BRG very much. We got a table out on the boardwalk at dusk, the ambiance was wonderful :lovestruc

Not sure what the inside was like but I would do the outside again :thumbsup2

I had the ribs and they were awesome!! My dh got the steak ( i think ) and he enjoyed his too.

We went in March 2008 and loved it. ( We went twice in fact ). We've been going here every two years since 2002. none of my LARGE group we travel with finds it's gone downhill. In fact, this past trip, we ate at Le Cellier, Les Chefs de France and Jiko and would still not cound Big River Grille as subpar ( though, it's true it's a more relaxed casual environment ). I say go for it! IMHO much better than the ESPN club for starters!

I thought it was pretty good.

We went one night while going to visit Boardwalk and play some mini-golf. The wait was about 40 minutes and we got an outside table, probably around 7pm (forget exactly, it's in the TR!).

I ordered Strawberry Mint Lemonade and it was very good. I had the Hazelnut Mahi Mahi which I also enjoyed. Our server was very attentive and the place seemed to be efficient. My cousin had the nachos and didn't have any complaints; her boyfriend had the steak and polished it off!

It is my dream one day to stay at the Boardwalk and eat at Big River again!

We really enjoyed it. I enjoyed sitting outside and our food was very good. The waiter was also attentive and really nice. I will definitely go back!

Ate there this past October, had the Red Rocket Ribs, very good. Sat on the boardwalk for lunch and was very relaxing. Have eaten inside previously and really didn't like it much. Very cramped, noisy, very industrial feel inside. The beer sampler seemed to be popular with other diners. I had the lager which was very good. Give it a try.

My recommendation is to stick to the burgers. The beer is nothing special by craft standards but is certainly better the choices at the beer wasteland called ESPN.

Thanks everyone! :)

I knew the folks on the Dis would help me out! :worship:

I think we're going to give it a try. We're meeting a friend of ours who is local to Orlando, so it's more of a hanging out kind of meal, then a few drinks over at Jellyrolls. The menu for BRG seems halfway decent and I look at it this way....we're doing all of our "special dinners" (ie: Cali Grill, F&W festivities) early in the week, so by Thursday (the day we plan on eating there) a nice burger and cold beer will sound great! :thumbsup2

Thanks again for all the great responses!
