Thoughts from 8/25-9/3 trip

I also agree on the cell phone ban. I found the excessive use of cell phones in the parks to be really annoying. Not that it changed my experience one way or the other, I just would shake my head and wonder how big of a dufus you'd have to be to walk around a theme park with your nose in your phone. Just gave me something else to laugh at.

Please note that it is 2012. People are posting pics to Facebook, using their phones as cameras, texting back home, etc. I would bet that if you didn't have significant roaming charges to Canada, you'd be doing the same. Also, some people (like myself) must keep in touch with work. Not everyone can be away from their phones so getting annoyed at that is really silly. Sorry for you that you get annoyed at something so trivial that has little to no impact on you or your experience :rolleyes1

Did you mean that this THREAD has gone over the edge? Really? Sweetie you ain't seen nothin'. But if we've offended..... buh bye.

Honey buns, you and the rest of the whiners didn't offend. This board used to be a good place to go for information. Instead, the majority of the posts are negative and do nothing but bash people and everything that Disney does. If it is all so bad, why comment and then spend your money there? There are options.

I'll continue to look for the good.

I agree with your post and want to add another....The entire family does not need to get in line to order at QS restauarants and please know what you want before you get in line!!!!!
I ride an ECV so always get a seat on the bus but what I hate to see is all the teenagers that sit instead of pregnant woman, elderly or parent holding a sleeping child. Also some could hold their small child instead of taking up two seats.
The strollers are too big and some rent the double when they have one child so they can lay down...really go to hotel and take a nap.

More common courtesy everyone!

So funny. Glad you had a great honeymoon. I agree with you. The bus seat hogs drives me crazy. You are absolutely correct about the cell phone oblivious walk. I have 3 grown children and I'm sure I have walked into my share of ankles, but some people use the strollers as a battering ram to make a path for themselves. The doubles are huge! And yes...don't let the kids push the strollers! IQ test? Just because you have a high IQ doesn't mean you can put that little card in and make it work. LOL:stir:

LOL...y'know the thing that *I* took away from the most from the OP was his praise for POFQ. Sooooo many give it high marks, and with it also being a moderate resort, I am definitely gonna have to book our next trip there.

We were going to book the Polynesian, but we hear more people raving about POFQ.

Nice list lol

but

#12 will lead nowhere good. And from your #12, you probably dont want to know MY thoughts on that one :) But it has something to do with needing / wanting a seat and next bus will be around in 15-20 minutes.. :mic:

edit: oh yea.. and the whole 'judging someone as being able bodied' unless you are their Dr. dont judge :)

Yup, exactly where I am going with it . . . . I am only 43, but I have a ruptured disc in my back. I've chosen not to have it operated on, because I've heard tons of horror stories about those operations causing more bad than good.

Some days it cooperates well with me, others, well not so much. Generally speaking, Disney days, with all the standing, walking, bouncing around on rides and buses, those are usually the not so much kind of days. By the time the end of the day rolls around, the last thing I want to do is stand on a bus, and hang on for dear life. Do I look like I am in need of a seat, no, I look fine, but the pain I have in my back at times tells a different story.

Often, I will get to the front of the bus line, and stand to the side, waiting for the next bus so that my children and I can sit. That option is not only available to me, ANYONE standing in that line is well within their rights to wait for another bus and get a seat. If they choose to pile into the bus that they can clearly see is standing room only, well that is a choice that they made for themselves. On occasion, even after waiting for the next bus so I could get a seat, I have given up my seat for a child, but on other occasions, my back simply isn't up to it, or I am simply not up to tolerating the pain that will be associated with it, and such is life.

If having a seat on the bus is THAT important to you, well then I invite you ti WAIT for the next bus, and enjoy a seat, just like I did.

A lot of your complaints deserve a giant eye roll :rolleyes2 especially the one about ticket prices based off IQ.

I did not go through and read all the responses. But first I will say, we were there the exact time, with the exception we arrived on the 24th.

We stayed at Caribbean Beach, and the bus service was bleh. It seemed we waited alot for a bus, maybe due to bad timing, but certainly we waited more than 20 minutes often. But, we loved our location in the resort and the resort itself.

As for the ticket IQ thing... Dh had trouble only at EPCOT, each time we went there it would take 2-3x before it would work. It was the only park he had an issue, every time they would ask him "are you using the right finger", "are you sure"...seriously we park hopped everyday, sometimes 3x a day, and EPCOT was the only park with ticket problems.

Strollers...ok, maybe I was one of those parents. I have 5 kids, 2 were stroller kids and yes, I let my 14, 12, and 10 yr old push the stroller, but only in the early am, when the parks were empty. I have done the double "Hot Dog" stroller and the Disney Double Wide, I like the Disney stroller, just all around easier to move with. So when you have kids, you can decide what works best for you and your family.

As for the heat...why YES, it was hot. For us, it was up and out to the parks as soon as possible and get the heck out of there by early afternoon, it was much nicer for us, we would go back and swim.

I hope, otherwise, you enjoyed your honeymoon.

I love how people start out talking about what is great about their trip; and then suddenly it is the opportunity to jump on a soapbox to complain about their trip.

It is a common way of roping you into reading their post, then a chance to get some obviously needed attention.

He lost me at the complaint about the weather. Really......it is Disney's fault it is the end of summer in Florida that it is hot and humid. God forbid - you do realize you are also there at the height of hurricane season???? You are lucky the weather was not worse. Talk about taking an IQ test before entering the parks?

If I needed attention I certainly wouldn't post something on a discussion board where nobody knows who I am. I could tell people at work about it. I could tell my family about it. Of course I did not those but not to the extent I did here. I went to the extent I did here because I wanted people to hear (read) an honest opinion of Disney. Everything there isn't sunshine and roses. There is more stuff I could have complained about but they were things that only happened once or twice. The things I complained about (and clearly labeled as complaining and saved to the end so if you didn't want to read them you didn't have to) were things I saw every day.

Obviously complaining about the weather is trivial; there is nothing that can be done about it. I knew it was going to be around 90 degrees and high humidity. This is why we left the parks around 1 p.m. and didn't return until after 6 p.m; it was just too darn hot. But, it was another part of my trip that I noticed every day so I included it. People should know that the last week of August is a good time to go as far as crowds are concerned but be ready to sweat, a lot. It certainly wouldn't keep me from going at that time again.

!

This.

Although, once they get their food and leave your line is now much shorter than the rest :cool1:
