Family went on annual trip. We started with our first daughter, her birthday is in Feb., and my husband is a chef and all the parties are over and also as Florida residence we get the discounts. Well the oldest is away at college and the youngest is a New Years Eve baby, however we kept the same time. This is number 21 in February. When we were younger and there were only two parks and no children we went whenever we had spare time. So I have a little Disney Experience.
Okay the CROWDS!!! I knew were coming after a Disney Marathon weekend, but the crowds never dwindled!! I thought maybe more Floridians like us, taking advantage of discounts. But no these were people from everywhere (I like listening and getting people to talk). Ride times stayed high at 60 to 80 minutes. Of course many 20 - 40 wait times were only 15. I DON'T like the new fastpass systems. That's me and my problem. With good planning we could get 5 fastpasses the old system and it wouldn't be at 11:00pm. Again, my problem.
Pop Century's food court sucks. Used to love it, but last year they had a flatbread margarita pizza and no longer. It's starting to taste the same where ever you go so we left property many times, and on the ride home, the McD's cheeseburger was the best thing I had tasted all week.
Not as many wheelchair and scooters to run me over (visually impaired and walk with can due to left side weakness.) When I got the GAC card which I only used twice, because you can only have one outstanding ride on it. It's funny; I am legally blind and I can't do brail because my finger are all cut up and cracked and I usually have 2 to 3 band aids because I've done something to one of them, burned it, cut it, you name it. Maybe it's just funny to me.
OKAY NOW HERE IS MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT OF THE WHOLE TRIP AND I PROBABLY WAS THE CURVEY BLONDE YELLING AT YOU. If your child or someone in the group is ill, DON'T COME. Sorry if you have to lose money (besides I know they will work with you if it was out of your control, you just have patience and go up the line.) I was so concerned about the Measles out break that we had a Wellness Check up to make sure our 5 year was caught up. She was behind. That was two weeks before trip. I am big hand washer but not crazy with these hand sanitizer, however since they have been out, when we got off a ride, everyone got a squirt of goo. This year we are all healthy, happy, no illness, having a great time. Magic on Monday, short Epcot on Tuesday because of the rainy weather. 3am Wed., morning my daughter sits up barking and coughing and struggling to get a good breathe. I freak. Call doctor oncall, waited long enough to get dressed and then left for the ER. She just sounded horrible and was running a high temp. We get to the ER and find out she has the croup. NOT horribly bad, but the child is struggling to breathe because larynx and throat swell up and usually they have ear infection or throat infections. Got us some steroid and antibiotics and motrin and had to wait for fever to go down, got RX and headed back to room. ER doctor said it can just come on quick like that or the child is sick for a few days. Said stay clear of people and then by Thursday she would be her old self. Thursday a.m. we told house keeping to please remove all linens and do a thorough cleaning, and I followed up and did sanitizer cleaning of ALL surfaces. Thursdayd and Friday saw and heard so many children with that barking cough and looking miserable and snotty noses and cranky because they were sick. Saw child throw up twice in Epcot, parents changed clothes and kept going. I was getting ill because the birds were nice enough to eat it and I was thinking "Well that will spread it faster!!! I was yelling, hey your kid is sick, probably got the croup, hey your child is contagious for 3 days without antibiotics. I have never put my daughters health over my selfishness. Well it cost this much or I am losing vacation time, or we will never ever be able to do it again. HOW DARE YOU. Just because we have modern medicine doesn't meant if you get sick they will patch you up. People die all the time in hospitals receiving the best care available. I don't want to get in a pissing contest, but keep your sick child at home.
