This won't be a true trip report, but I thought I'd share thoughts from our recent trip. We flew in early Sat morning and left Wed morning, with Sat-Tues as park days.

Travel: We flew Southwest into LAX, which was a breeze. This trip was actually a surprise the kids (we have traveled on to NM for a family reunion, so they thought we were going early, with a layover at LAX) and I had Mandi over on the DISigns board make Alice in Wonderland themed boarding passes to announce the surprise. We asked the gate agent to help us and she went above and beyond by having the airport page them to come to the counter where she presented each child with their new "boarding pass". It was great. I know LAX can be crazy, but we were able to get our luggage, walk out and get on the DLE bus 5 mins later.

Hotel: We stayed at the PPH for the first time and we loved it! The rooms are great and the walk is so easy. The GCH will always be my choice if possibe, but I would prefer the PPH over the DLH any day. We never had a problem with the elevators although I could see how they could back up.

Dining: We ate Goofy's, Carthay Circle, Jazz Kitchen & Blue Bayou as our advanced dining reservations. After many disappointing trips to Goofy's, we had an amazing time last Nov so decided to try again, shooting for the same dining time. And unfortunately this time was another let down. I know the cost is for the character interaction, but except for Alice (who we had to request come to the table), it was really lacking. We did see Goofy, Minnie, Jasmine, Alice, Dale & Pluto for anybody wondering. I think this was our last time there - at least for a long while. Carthay Circle was amazing, the food was great, as was the service. Jazz Kitchen is a favorite of ours and this didn't disappoint. Blue Bayou was great for us - the food was delicious. We asked about a water side table at check in and they said it would be a 45 min wait. We opted not to wait, but it was nice to know they would allow a party our size to do it. When we were on Pirates after, we did see a party of about 12 sitting waterside.

EMH/Rides & such: As has been mentioned, there were a lot of rides that were done. Of course the scheduled ones, but TSMM was down both mornings we had EMH at DCA. RSR was down the second day too. They got both up & running by regular park opening, but it made for a "lost" feeling during that hour. Snow White was down almost every time we went by it. And BTMRR was down just as the first Fantasmic ended which created even more chaos than usual.

Other thoughts: The crowds weren't nearly as bad as I was expecting and nothing like Thanksgiving week. We were the second family at security both days at 6:30 for a 7am EMH at DCA and it never did get busy. The EMH/MM at DL on the other hand had huge lines by that time, although it never felt too busy that morning. It wasn't as empty as that time during Thanksgiving week however. It was a nice time to go because the grad nights are done, the hours are longer and it doesn't seem like true summer crowds have hit yet.

The line to see Anna was about an hour on Sat afternoon, so DH got in line while I did some rides with the kids. My mom got in line during our EMH on Tues and the line opened right away. It took us about 1/2 hour in line to meet them both, but by that time, they were estimating the line at 4 hours.

We did BBB for two of my daughters (one doesn't like her hair done, so we brought a dress and I did her make up). I have to say they do a good job, but it is crowded and seems very rushed. They take way more time at D365 and the hair stays up longer. We really did this for my 3 yr old who thanks to a gift from a family member was granted the castle package. One of the Fairy Godmothers in Training did convince my one who doesn't like her hair done, to do a little something to hold her tiara in and did for it no charge, which was nice. They were all allowed to do the photo shoot and they gave me an individual of the 3 yr old and 2 of all the girls. We also did the escort to PFF, which was great. We met Cinderella, Ariel & Tiana (a first for us; and she was totally sweet especially to the non-hair doer who was dressed as Tiana). On Sat there were a ton of Elsa dresses in all sizes and a few Anna in 14/16. By Tues, there were no Anna and only 2/3 Elsa (although they do hold some sizes in the back for BBB).

We had Photopass+ and while in Fantasyland, we had photographer come up and ask if we done any magic shots. We said no and he listed about 5 he could do with the kids, so we took him up on the offer. While attempting an Olaf one, a lady on an ECV was trying to park it, slowed down, but then for some reason, sped up and took out one of my daughters. I mean ran it right into her, her ankle got caught under the front and it knocked her to the ground. The lady was apologetic, but still just walked off and got on her ride. The photographer was angry and let it be known. They had a hard time getting ahold of first aid and after having 3 CMs wait with us, it was finally agreed that we would walk to first aid on our own, since she seemed to be doing ok. They did give her a FP for any ride of her choice and one for Peter Pan, each good for 6 people. First aid cleared her with some ice, but no worse for the wear. The photographer told us to find him the next day, so we did and he spent 45 mins doing pictures with the kids, both group shots and individual. I haven't seen them yet, since we're not home, but I know he did Olaf, balloons, Chip (Beauty & the Beast), Pascal & Tinkerbell. It was a lot of fun!

I am missing Disneyland already and am counting down the days until we return! Any questions, feel free to ask.

thanks for the report! my dd4 is getting the castle package this july... could you detail the check in process? does the FGMIT helps the girls choose the dress??
is the processional worth it for the girls??
how long does the castle package take??
sorry for the bunch of questions!!
seems that you had an awesome time (except for the ECV incident, :/)

Thanks for the quick report back Jamie!::yes::

So sorry to hear about your DD's experience with ECV lady---hope everything is OK!

Nice to have lower crowds than expected---SCORE--- and sounds like you had a really successful trip!!!:thumbsup2

Thank You Jamie for the excellent report! Did you have park view at the PPH?
I really want to stay there next trip!

I hope your little girl is OK, those ECV's are so dangerous with inexperienced drivers in huge crowds.... I wish something could be done!

Enjoyed your summary, Thank You!

:) Lori

Thank you so much for sharing! Sounds like you had an awesome trip! So glad you loved PPH, that's my families favorite onsite place to stay! I cannot believe that lady ran into your daughter and left! Wow. I'm sorry that had to happen, but so glad that she is ok. My only question is, do you happen to know your awesome photographers name from Fantasyland? He sounds fantastic!

We got there about 10 mins before the appt to check in, but after that it got a but chaotic. They told us to look around and a FGIT would help pick out a dress, but DD knew she wanted Elsa, so it was done before anybody came to help (ODD brought a dress with us). It was so crowded though, I felt like I was in the way no matter where I went. They allowed my two who brought dresses to change in the dressing room as well and once we were ready they sat them and gave us a bench to watch. I'd say the whole makeover was maybe 40 mins. They told us to the photo shoot after that and asked us to wait outside and they'd bring the photos to us - we probably only waited 5 mins. Then another FGIT came out and escorted us to the meet & greet where we walked by the line and entered through a side door. Meet & greet went smoothly and was totally worth it. I'd say in all it took us about 70 mins.

I think we'll go back to D365 next time, but it was fun especially for my little one.

Sorry, can't multi quote on my phone! No we didn't have a view room and next time I'd definitely upgrade to that. I really loved this hotel! And even taking the monorail to DTD and walking that way was quick & easy in the middle of the day.

DD is fine now. It was a bit scary when it happened, but she got great care and now has a story to tell :)

I think his name is Eric - I know he's from Napa, CA per his name tag. He says his home base is the BBB store, but he's often around the sword.

And BTMRR was down just as the first Fantasmic ended which created even more chaos than usual.

It's possible this wasn't an untimely breakdown. When there are large crowds for a specific event, I find that the percentage of "breakdowns" dramatically increases for surrounding rides. Shockingly, the "breakdowns" only last a few minutes for the crowds to disperse a little more. We experienced a "breakdown" of the Disneyland Railroad right after the Soundsational Parade a few months ago.

Are you saying your trip in June was better than a Thanksgiving time trip? We usually always go around Thanksgiving but may try to go a different time next year. ;)

Sounds like a nice trip...minus the hit your daughter took. What a bummer!

I don't know if I'd say better, but definitely less crowded. The weather, for me, is much easier in Nov, so I don't think we tire as easily. The DCA EMHs were a lot less crowded in June, but the DL one seemed more crowded.

We're going back for Thanksgiving - well actually leading up to Thanksgiving so we'll see if crowd levels have changed since last year.

Thanks for the reply. :goodvibes

We've been going every 2 years right after Thanksgiving and the crowds have just progressively grown. Because of my son's school schedule we may just bite the bullet and do before Thanksgiving if we go again in November.

If you do the Castle package, does it matter when your appointment is? I'm not sure what the times are for PFF. I'm seriously thinking of having my DD's do the Castle package instead of eating at Ariel's Grotto on our next trip. We'd like to try Blue Bayou but with 6 in our family those types of restaurants get pricey fast. We've done the character meal at AG just to avoid the chaos and wait at PFF.

That is actually exactly what we did! We had 1:50 appts at BBB (the only time we could get since it was decided a week before we went) and dinner at BB at 4:30pm. It worked well for us and the girls loved being "dressed up" for that meal. We were a party of 7 (my 6 plus my mom) and our meals at Carthay Circle and Blue Bayou were both half of what our meals at Goofy's Kitchen cost and the food was so much better - plus all my kids ate well (as opposed to some pizza and ice cream at Goofy's). We did Ariel's in Nov and it was such a let down; and an expensive one. I think we may be done with character meals for awhile.

We were just talking about this too. CCR & BB seem so expensive when you look at the menu prices, but they really aren't horrible -the kids' prices are honestly pretty reasonable. We ate at CCR for about the same that Applebee's costs us (no alcohol though).

I've looked over the menu of BB and basically picked the most expensive meals I could and came up with a price of about $275 for our family. I can't remember if I added in any alcoholic drinks. I have two teenage boys who eat like grown men. Every time we eat out I feed 4 adults. It gets expensive! At least my girls eat kids meals.

When we ate at AG last August it was around $265. I'm sure everything will cost more by August 2015. It'll cost me about $400 for two Castle packages but AG would cost me almost $300. The Coach package is $54 each. I think it'll be a push. I just have to do something "Princessy" when we're there. :)

It may be worth doing one castle and one coach package, which is what we did. They allow up to 6 into the m& greet with the princesses and due to a little bit of pixie dust from the BBB manager, they allowed all 3 of my girls in the pictures even though only one bought the castle package, one did the coach package and one didn't do anything at all.

We were feeding 4 adults and 2 kids (one didn't eat) at BB and it was right around $200 I think.

What and where is D365?

Also woah bout the lady knocking your daughter down and continuing on her merry way. I would be super annoyed at that!

Really want to see what the olaf magic shot is now as well :goodvibes

D365 is in DTD, right outside the GCH entrance. It is also makeover place, but they do funkier hairstyles (bows, color strands, etc). They also do make up. I think it's starts at $19.95, so much more affordable. We've done them there twice and I loved it both times.

The lady did apologize, but it was weird to me that she just got into line. I mean, I guess there wasn't much more she could do, but....

Once I get the Photopass+ finished, I'll be sure to share that picture!

In case others are looking for more info on this place, it's called Studio 365. It has more of a rock star/pop star/Hollywood celebrity tilt vs the princess style of BBB.
