Is there any transportation that goes to a nice beach for a day???
Kids have never been to a beach and they are 11,8,5, and 2.
I thought lunch, and play in sand or see the sights at the beach even if its not warm enough to swim . it would be something to see

I tried to do a search but found nothing. I know dh will not drive he is worried about getting lost.
thought it might be a nice break in the action to take in the ocean etc.

any recommendations etc is appreciated by all !

I don't think there are any shuttles to the beach.

Reconsider driving, it's an easy hour or so drive to Cocoa Beach east of Orlando.
Get a Fl map or dro map quest.

herc.

I would consider driving as well. Several car rental places, have a GPS system in the car for an extra price. I have a Garmin (Nuvi 200) and I LOVE IT, it is pretty hard to get lost with one of those. Maybe you could rent a car with one of those?

I'd actually recommend a gulf coast beach for December as the cooler temperature, the cold Atlantic water and the likelihood of wind might make Cocoa Beach a little unpleasant for you.
The problem with that is the concern about driving there. Cocoa Beach is a much easier drive taking the Beachline (SR 528) east to Cocoa. SR 528 turns into Route A1A at I-95. Just follow A1A from Cocoa to Merritt Island (A1A is also called Bennett Causeway here) to Cape Canaveral to Cocoa Beach. As you travel along A1A going south the beach will be to the left.
To get to the gulf beaches, you'd take I-4 west toward Tampa, merge onto I-275 where I-4 ends in Tampa and take exit 39 to Memorial Highway (SR 60) to Clearwater. Clearwater Beach is the easiest to get to by just continuing to follow SR 60 - it's known as Gulf to Bay Boulevard and then Cleveland Street and finally Clearwater Memorial Causeway.
I'd guess that it's about an hour from Orlando to Cocoa Beach and probably a little more than an hour and a half to Clearwater Beach.
