what do you do?
HOw many hours do you work a week? Do you get a regualr paycheck (@ regualr times) or does it depend on how much work you produce?
HOw hard is it with a family/kids?
When do you do your work? Do you have specific hours??

I work for a huge company that has us mobile 3 days a week.

I work 40 hours, but I do flex time so I work 4 9 hour days and one 4 hour.

I get a paycheck 2 x's a month.

I have set hours 6 am to 3:30, Fridays 6 to 10.

My parents watch our little one, I could not work and watch her too, but she can come in and give hugs and stuff and I do get her dressed on the mornings I am home, which is wonderful! :flower:

I am a graphic designer and work 40 hours a week. I work on a freelance basis, but they do not pay me for more than 40 hours. I don't get paid for holidays, sick days, or vacation.

I generally work from 9am to 5:15pm, but sometimes I take little breaks during the day to take care of my 4 1/2 month old son. That means that sometimes I finish projects after hours.

I find some days harder than others depending on how much work I have at that moment and how fussy Jacob happens to be at that moment. I am very curious how this will work out once he starts becoming more mobile; over the months he has been more and more demanding of my time and attention.

Although a little difficult, I'd rather be working at home with him than have him in daycare. I understand why people put kids in daycare, but I just love being around him so much I am willing to do what it takes to be with him. I also understand I have a very generous employer who is allowing me to work from home (they've never done this before). I know not everyone has this kind of opportunity.

I work at home 2 weeks out of every 3. I am an attorney and I read and analyze newly published opinions for a major legal publishing company. I go in every 3rd week because I am a Senior Editor and we (other Senior Editors) take turns being in the office to answer questions and assist staff members. It's a good mix for me.

I work 40 hours a week, no overtime. My usual hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. I get paid on the 1st and 15th of every month. I am fortunate that I have great benefits, paid holidays, sick leave, and a generous vacation package. I've been with this company almost 15 years and have been home based for over 2 years now.

My kids are teenagers now, but they LOVE coming home and having me here. In some ways, they need me more now than they did when they were younger. It's been a great arrangement because we just finished out our basement and remodeled our laundry room, and it was VERY convenient for me to be here to answer the door for contractors and inspectors. Plus, with the price of gas, it helps to park one car in the garage. My clothing budget has gone down as well. I love having the option of heading downstairs and doing a load of laundry or dishes while "on break" from my computer.

I work at home doing daycare, and I have for about 6 years. Right now I'm full time, about 50 hours a week. I've had a varied schedule over the years based on what my families need. Right now I'm full time because I took a teacher's 2 kids. Baby (3mos) is snoozing in my arms right now. Needless to say Fridays are my light days. Some days I can't sit for a minute.

Daycare has been the best choice for my family. I make more money than I would any where else. And I'm always here for my 2 kids. Plus, I'm darn good at it if I do say so myself.

I work 20 hrs and one 6-hr on-call shift a week from home. My hours are set, 6pm to midnight or later, sometimes until morning. i love it! I can get my kids off to school, have breakfast with DH, make dinner most nights and I'm home when the kids get in--not a minor piont, since my older two are teens now. I work a lot of Fri/Sat/Sun evenings so it does impact our weekends, but I try to make sure i have 1-2 full weekends off each month.

I went to this shift after my DH became ill. He couldn't take care of the kids, so i could barely leave the house. Being able to work from home means I'm available in a crisis(like the night my youngest had a 15minute seizure!) and I can get in more hours because I'm not worrying constantly about how DH is doing. My kids have gotten used to me working in the basement and know not to talk or be loud when i'm at my desk. They come & sit quietly in the chair until I'm done. Working at home makes it possible for me to schedule my break at bedtime so I can scratch backs, give kisses, and have a late snack with DH. Once everyone goes to bed I have total quiet for the rest of my shift.

I do medical transcription, and I really don't have set hours. Usually, I will work on it at night from about 8:00-10:00, so I'm not sitting in front of the computer all morning the next day. Then finish up in the morning. Right now, I'm part-time, just one doctor, so I work about 10-15 hours a week. I will be adding another doctor on in the fall, so not certain how this will work out. I can do this when the kids are home, but it's definitely harder. Summers are the worst!! I enjoy it though, and it allows me to be home and available at any time.

I am an application developer. I do analysis, documentation, design, documentation, trouble shooting, documentation, programming, documentation, and scads of documentation. I work 40 hours a week and get straignt salary + bonus.

It is great with kids because I am here to see them off to school in the mornings and here when they get home. I have the flexibility to take them to appointments when needed and am able to attend all their school functions. My hours are flexible but I do need to available for staff meetings and such (I attend via conference call). I usually work from around 6 AM - 4 PM Monday thru Thursday.

I am a Mortgage Broker and I work usually about 2-4 hours per week.

I have all the necessary equipment on my home computer (pull up credit reports, printing applications, etc). I will go into the office only when I have an appointment or for a closing.

Needless to say I don't get paid on a regular basis, but when I do the money is really good. Last year we figured up my actual hours worked for 2005 and came up with around 50 . My income (no taxes deducted) for 2005 was over $10000.00.

This works so well for me, and I am truly blessed that I found the company I work for. Honestly, it is the only job I could do and be able to be with my kids. I am so thankful.
