Took a stroll down to Thomas Exchange today to get some dollars as it seems like we may have seen the dollar peak and they refused to serve me as I didnt have with me either a driving llicence or passport. Don't know quite what has happened to chip & pin......must have passed them by!

Anyway, they lost out, and I ordered my dollars from Travelex once I got back to the office for pickup at the airport. Straight after ordering I sent through an email to challenge their price promise, and hey presto, a reply back within 30 minutes with confirmation of a cheque for the difference being sent to my home address. Exceptional Service- Well done Travelex.

As for TE, too many hurdles Im afraid.......

Thomas exchange was $1.8127

Travelex was $1.7831

Works out about $18 difference per $1000.

Pays for another case of beer I suppose :-)

1.81 is a really good rate. How do you go about claiming price guarantee with Travelex? Sorry for all questions, was just planning to buy $ in next day or two, but waiting for cash to transfer from online savings
:hourglass

ps glad it's not only me who works out how good a saving you make by working out how much alcohol you can buy. With me it's 'gosh, that's another 3 bottles of wine I can buy'!!

Acemann, the ID thingy is the governments way of trying to stop money laundering (although surely you would hand over cash if you were laundering?). As a result I always buy currency in cash (hence a 45 minute wait in M&S on Friday as everyone was paying cash!)

Kristie,

Just follow the instructions on the Price Promise page on the website. I just sent them an email with all the details on it and they responded within 30 minutes. Not sure how long the cheque will take to arrive though.

I reckon I've got enough for half a dozen cases of Milwakee Ice (Very underrated, very cheap alternative to sickly sweet Bud)!!!..... Shame I'll be the only one in the villa drinking it but hey-ho!!!
