This weather is INSANE!

It is the end of December and we are under a TORNADO WATCH until 8pm.

I was hoping for a quiet and pretty uneventful day today - but considering DH and I are storm spotters for the national weather service - it doesn't sound like that is going to happen.

Cross your fingers for us - maybe we will lucky out and nothing much will happen.

In California it was incredibly windy for two days just a few days ago. I was waiting for our backyard furniture to come flying through a window. the winds were strong enough to knock over the kids basketball hoop. (One of those moveable ones - not attached to the house)

Yeah, they' were saying there was a tornado was on the ground west of here near Stephenville . Hopefully you and your DH won't be too busy tonight.

When I saw the title of the thread I clicked to see if you are in Texas. We are outside of Houston and also have tornado warnings! The wind is really whipping! Wow!

I just heard that the average for tornados in Texas in december is 1 every 9 years.

Nine have already been reported today.

Stay safe everyone. Right now in eastern Dallas county we are just getting rain and occassional rumble of thunder - but that is supposed to change.

We're right outside San Antonio. The weather is nuts. My kids had their hand on the front door ready to go to the park when it suddenly downpoured.
Is there a cold front coming or what?

I'm right by DFW Airport, it's downpouring then stopping for a few, then again. Rumbly too. The dogs are freaking out, I've given them meds but they're not settled yet. It's going to be a long night.

Yes, the weather is insane. I live in Ohio and have had the windows open today. No coats are needed. I have never remembered such a warm December in my life.

In my hometown the weather is always exactly normal. It is never to warm or to cold, always exactly normal. Otherwise the weather people would get mad and say the temperature is not what it should be this time of year.

Now it is up to 11 tornados.

Still pretty quiet around here - but as an upper level disturbance moves in from the west it is supposed to be getting worse in our area.

This is the tail end of the storm that is delivering all the snow in Colorado - it is dragging the warm air from the gulf into this part of the state and making everything "explode".

It's been SO warm here in NJ so far. Today was in the 50s again.
