hey guys! i haven't been on the boards in a while. i have been wanting to go back since i was at royal pacific last year and now i finally have the chance and the excuse. some of you who know me, may recall that i took my niece and nephew with me last year. certainly securing my spot as aunt of the year. well this year, wanting to go back myself and was planning on going alone, i have decided to take their older brother. he will be 14 next month and graduating from middle school so i decided to make it a graduation gift. i surprised his brother and sister by hiding messages in plastic easter eggs during our annual easter egg hunt and the messages spelled out where we are going. i need to think of something good to surprise this one with.

anyway, my questions are what is out there? i feel so left out on stuff. i am probably going for the stay 4 play free deal and planning on PBH this time! i am more worried about how short amount of time i have. i am planning to go the first week of july and i do not have airfare yet, transportation, or anything. can you guys help me out and fill me in on what's new and what's going on? i also got gift certificate deals last year with the radio stations for universal restaurants, is there anything going on like that this year?

THANKS GUYS!

There are usually fireworks that time of year. If you are there on the 4th, the show is extra spectacular. With a 14 year old, I would stay HRH. The pool is a big hit with kids that age. The theming at the hotel is pretty cool too. :cool1: Remember with FOTL you do not need to overplan. Just relax and do what you guys are up for at the moment. One cool thing to do, however is the ride the front row on Hulk. You can not get FOTL for this. We got up early to do it when we were there in December.

If he is a typical 14 year old boy, he will probably love to see the new Fear Factor Live at Universal. It will be in the old Wild West Stadium between Men in Black and Jaws. Plan on riding MIB a few times as it is like a video game on steroids.

I agree about the HRH. A 14 year old boy would be in heaven there. It is just a really cool hotel and the pool is really fun for kids. I'm sure PBH would be wonderful too, but when I hear 14 year old boy - i just automically think of the Hard Rock Hotel.

thanks for the replies. i will look into HRH. i wasn't considering it before because the shallow pool killed my legs when i was there last year but out of all the pools, the kids liked that one the best and wish we were staying there. i'll check into it as the trip is for him.

also, you are right about MIB being like a video game. i have to admit, it is one of my favorites and i know he will love it. he has only been to IOA and that was only for 1 day so we skipped all of the water rides. UNIV will be all new to him!
