This northern girl

My daughter just did her science fair project on the very topic of the colors of foods affecting our perception of their taste. She placed third!

Great project idea! Tell her congratulations.:cheer2:

She is 13 and in 8th grade. She used invisible grape and invisible cherry koolaid. She also made colorless orange flavor and colorless lime flavor drinks using sugar, lime, lemon, and orange extract. She colored the control group the appropriate colors (cherry was red, lime was green, orange was orange, and grape was purple.) She then colored the test group colors that didn't "match" the flavor. She found that kids did much better than adults, but everyone got more of the control group right than the test group.

This Northern girl too! I made a heart shaped red velvet cake for Valentines day. I just couldn't get past the color. My husband loves red velvet whoopie pies. One kid liked it the other wouldnt try it.:confused3

I admit it was not made from scratch. Those that do make it from scratch, how doest get its color? Wondering if its natural or food coloring.

basically, its a chocolate cake, that is colored red with food coloring.
