thank you for posting the direct park-to-park bus info here - i didn't know, and if i hadn't seen your thread, wouldn't have known!

And knew this info....since 1986!;) However, you DO have to allow EXTRA time, as I jumped on a bus to MGM/HS one time, as I had just missed the AK bus...it took a good HOUR to get to AK from MGM/HS! I swear I would never have done that again! Timing is the key to The Busses!!!!:thumbsup2

It's easy to assume there is no direct buses from MK to anywhere else though, because unlike the other parks, they are NOT with the resort buses! It's kind of hidden in a corner at the TTC. We finally discovered this about 2 trips ago...out of 15 trips!!! And there was maybe a handful of people there waiting to be picked up.

I am totally confused with this post. I'm not trying to be funny but why would Disney have tickets called "hoppers" if you couldn't hop from park to park? All the threads, strategies, and trip reports of people parking at the theme park they'll end the day with, but hopping on a bus to go to the park they want to begin their day with. I guess I just didn't understand the resistance of this information. If you're new I understand, but this info is no secret by far. :confused3

There is also a bus from DHS to Wide World of Sports, in case anyone was wondering.:cool2:

That's what I was confused about too. It just seems so commonsensical to me.

Hope this will help you understand why this information persists: :flower3:
It is no secret, by far, BUT unfortunately, you will read plenty of threads here on the Dis by people who staunchly and stubbornly believe the contrary.

I, for one, who lurks in the TR section religiously, have read numerous accounts of Disers going back to their resorts in order to hop to another park. (And what's more is that those Disers have had several trips under their belt per their siggys.)

That's what I was confused about too. It just seems so commonsensical to me.

With all due respect, to you it may sound "commonsensical" for people to know about this -- BUT you will be surprised at the vast number of Disers who do NOT know (just check the responses to this thread, no offense to those who are just learning about this :flower3: ).

As the OP said, she has seen several threads about this piece of misinformation (as I have), and the point of this post is to correct that.

Btw, thanks for posting this info, OP :thumbsup2 You have helped plenty of Disers (posters and lurkers alike) This is why :disrocks:

And oh, and we'll be there in 23 days (woo-hoo!) so I'll try to take photos of the bus stops/buses in question :) Hopefully, the heat won't stop me from hopping. We shall see :)

That is so true. I saw a thread a couple of weeks ago where someone was insisting that there was no direct park to park transportation even after some one has posted a photo of the sign at AK directing people to the MK bus stop.

Oh, I know. That's what I mean. That's what's so surprising.

Pictures of the bus signs would be great to add to this thread! I think I have seen them posted here on the DIS before, maybe someone will post some more.

Thanks!

I haven't been to WDW since I was a teenager, almost 10 years ago... but I remember "park hopping" quite well, especially since we stayed offsite--we had no resort to go "back to." I knew I had taken transportation to other parks, but once I had gotten on the DIS I thought maybe I had mistaken... glad to know I was right (for once!:rotfl:) Thanks for posting the info!

I cannot believe that so many do not know about this service. We have been using this service since our first stay on Disney property back in 1999. Sorry you got so much grief for just trying to help.

Thank you for posting this. It's all about education. I have had to tell more than one person, "NO, you can't walk from one park to another."

Except that you CAN walk from HS to Epcot. It takes about 15- 20 minutes. There is also a boat ride. The boat is nice, but you can walk it, and it may well be faster to walk.

Another thing not mentioned here, is that at the bigger resorts, often it is best to wait at the main bus stop.

If you don't know your way around WDW, the best thing is to ride you bus tothe desired stop. If you do know your way though, sometimes it can be faster to get off at the first wrong stop and walk. Like the boat ride between Epcot at HS. The boat is nice break between the parks. I'm trying to recall the correct order, but I think it usually goes from HS to YC to BWK (to Swan to HS). In which case, if you take it from HS and can walk well, it is faster to get off at YC and walk if you are going to Epcot. Even if you stay on it all the way to BWK, if you are a fast walker, you can sometimes beat the boat. The boat takes time to dock....

Another trick we saw when we stayed at ASMu, was that many folks who were at ASMo (3rd stop) got off at the ASMu (2nd) stop. This was faster and actually closer to some ASMo rooms. It got me thinking that sometimes it might be fastest to use the ASSp bus stop. The resorts LOOK like they are far apart, but it's a visual illusion. They are really quite close.

Oh, and I often get a chuckle about the incorrect DIS info out there about the quickest way to get from one place to another. My favorites are the ones who suggest a monorail +boat +bus to get to Chef Mickey's from MK....

I don't recall how I knew we could go park to park on the buses, maybe one of the guides. But the signs were clearly marked at each place. That does explain why the buses were usually fairly empty.

Yes, this strategy works. But just for clarification, the order is DHS to S/D to YC/BC to BWI to EPCOT. So coming from DHS (for example) get off at the first stop S/D and walk to Epcot. You will beat the boat by a good 10 minutes or more.

Those "wizards" are so out of date. Those directions are probably for Chef Mickey's when it was at DTD.

On a related topic:

Once upon a time, there used to be direct Disney transportation between the parks and DTD. Last time we went (12/2005), this had ceased, and we had to connect through a resort when we wanted to travel from DTD and the Studios.

Does anyone know if this is still the case?
