This may be too personal a ? for some....

Woman, this was NOT the question you were supposed to ask! Naughty Mat for you.

We spend between $400 and $500 a month on groceries for DH and me. This does not include take out or eating out.

Uh, I resemble that remark. :teeth:

Yes, food can be exciting. Just ask T&B. She has a chocolate dipped pool boy. Yum. ;)

we have a strange family life-four people in three households-lol-but i spend about 375 in the commissary-275 for my husband,16 year old and family weekends, and another 75 100 for my commuter studio-and i only eat protien and fresh veggies-then float my college boy about 100 and hubby spends 50 or so on bread fruit and milk on the economy for the two of them (him and the 16) commisary runs 35 to 40 percent cheaper than the economy here so figure in real dollars about 700 al together

I would say around $500 a month for 4 people. That does not include eating out/take out, which is mostly what we do on the weekends.

I'm around $800.00 per month, sometimes more like when I have to stock up on all the cleaning stuff. I buy everything at one store, so HBC, laundry and cleaning is part of my grocery shopping. We do not eat out alot, and I do takeout maybe once a week, usually pizza or subs. Oh yeah, there are 5 of us. Luckily girls don't eat a lot!

We spend about $600 for the four of us, so sounds great to me!

I would say $600 a month for DH & I. That includes a lot of expensive items we really like (filet mignon, decent wine, seafood, lots of fresh fruit), because we don't eat out too often - when we do it is usually sushi or mexican - meals I cannot make at home as well or for less than what it costs to eat out :)

mmm...I will get to eat like that when my kids grow up...

We probable spend between $200-300/mo on groceries. It varies, because sometimes I actually skip a week, and other times, I buy extra on sale. We have two adults and one 8yo.

We are a family of 4. DH and I and our 11 yo DS and 3 yo DS. We spend probably around $600 a month but that also includes, not just grocery shopping but going out to eat as well.

I spend at least $600 in the store for our family of four, plus another $100 or so in Costco. I will admit though that I don't cut coupons and pretty much buy whatever, including a lot of meat and convenience foods.

$350-400 a month for 3. This does not include going out to eat about once a week (no more often than that). Also, we shop at the commissary so I think we probably would spend more if we shopped at a regular grocers.

Holy Cow what are some of you guys eating!! :lmao: For a family of 6 we spend around $200 a month in grocerys & that includes toilet paper, laundry soap ( and usually eating out at McDonalds or chinese once a week or two weeks ) etc. BUT we also raise our own chickens so we get free eggs, whole chickens for $1.25 ( about a 10lb roaster for the $1.25 processing fee..lol cant beat that! ) We also raise rabbits and some of those end up in the freezer. Hubby got a deer last year and thats still in the freezer so we dont buy as much meat. Now if I had a garden that would save us tons but our garden didnt work out last year :(

Forgot to add that we dont buy snacks, pop etc. A lot of times I wont buy cereal either unless its a really good deal, I would rather make the kids muffins or pancakes for breakfast then have them eat a whole box of cereal for breakfast. We also make a lot of stuff from scratch and we shop at Aldi's!

DH & I only, and it runs between $150-$225 each month. It's higher if we do a big holiday dinner or something.

We are a family of 7 and used to spend about $800 a month, not counting eating out once or twice a month. It's now down to about $700 a month. Ka-ching! lol.. We don't eat a lot of prepackaged meals and eat mostly vegetarian, ethnic, homecooked, and lots of organic foods. I rarely buy cleansers and use natural stuff like vinegar and baking soda to clean.

I'm sure we could cut it down to $400 to $500 a month if we didn't eat this way, though.

We spend about $150-$200 for the two of us. DH buys his lunch every day (or takes sandwiches from home), but my lunch is free at work, so that really cuts down on the bill. We also eat out on weekends.

No it's not all a personal question.

This question has been posted several times over at the budget board.

You may want to go over there and do a search.

We're a family of 6 too and I would say it's around $750????? Ugh, I know it's high.

As for eating out with our large family. Especially fast food rest. I hit the rest. that offer a buy one meal and get one free. Like McDonald's for breakfast, milkshakes for 99 cents at Arby's, etc.

I too go to restuarants that "kids eat free" too!

We spend about 500-600 a month on groceries and eating out for two people. Grocery wise we eat 6 small meals a day so there's a lot of food that's needed and it all has to be healthy. Lots of fresh produce which really adds up in the winter.
