saddam will not come out of this alive. He had his opportunity to live in the 48 hour window that Bush provided for him to leave Iraq. Now I believe that if he is captured alive it would cause all kinds of problems with arab leaders the world over because we would want to try him for crimes against humanity and execute him. Therefore I believe we will make sure he is not taken alive.

Since he let the window pass for exile, we will probably put him on trial and throw him in a cell for the rest of his life. If we decide to still let him go into exile, then I believe there are a couple of countries that had offered to take him previously. My guess is that we would make sure that, if that happened, it would be the equivalent of some sort of house arrest that we could monitor.

b) Be tried by an international war crimes tribunal.

c) Be tried by his own country.

I hadn't even considered this option. I think it would probably be the best one available. If he is tried by the IWCT I'm afraid his French and German buddies will see to it that he gets a slap on the wrist. If we try him, whatever we do will be decried as too harsh by the rest of the world. Let him answer to his own people.

It does amaze me that as a Christian, I beleieve that Christ died for even Saddam. However, with all his evil deeds and ways I bet his heart has turned to stone and that God doesn't know him. Judging? Yes. Rotten fruit.

To the OP - before the war actually started, when exile for Saddam was still an option, Bahrain had actually offered him exile. I think there were a few other offers as well but this is the one that sticks out in my mind.

I'm with everyone else, I vote for 6 feet under!
