I tried to book the Grand Floridian for our trip 11/25/07 - 12/2/07. Website indicated there were no rooms available. BUT, if I enter 11/23/07-12/2/07, which is not value season, rooms are available. Either it is available or it is not!!! Apparently, Disney is trying to get the higher rate. I can't believe they don't make enough money even on the value rates. I am really frustrated!!!

You might want to try calling Disney directly. I had just the opposite experience. Tried to book 1 nite at POP. Called Disney and all they said they had was the "premium" rooms available and no standard. I hung up and looked at the website and standard WAS available so I booked through there.

Try calling, you may get different results. It seems that no two Disney agents are the same !

Good luck,

The website stinks I never use it except to check rates never for availibilty, I call CRO its easier and the inventory is up to date.

Book what it will let you and then call CRO to modify it to fit your dates.

I have noticed they play this game, too.

Good luck - I would snag those dates quickly!

For some reason this has been happening. The WDW site will show no availability for your dates, but if you make your dates longer all of the sudden they show availability. This happened to me last yr and I called CRO and she booked the reservation for when it was available and then modified the dates I only needed.
I hope that makes sense?

I never use the Disney World website. It's a joke. It's the world's biggest tourist attraction and it's one of the most useless websites I've ever been on.

I think you are giving that website WAY to much credit...:rotfl2: It can barely sell a room much less be that "efficient" in Disney's favor....

I agree with others DO NOT USE THE WEBSITE (plus I think it gets you the 45 day cancellation policy as opposed to the five day by calling!)

You will have the 6 day cancellation policy if you book room only.

Just today I wanted to book a 5 nt stay thru CRO on the phone....CM couldn't do my first choice resort for the 5 days. I looked online and it IS available if I book my 5 days within the 7 day period. I am going to book the 7 days and then call CRO to modify it down to the 5 I do want. I do think it's a game they play - but I can play it too - and I do hate the website. :headache:

Good luck.

I have done this before but this time, value season starts on 11/25 and if I book from 11/23, it will give me the higher rate for the 7 days also.

Or they have it set up to only accept certain lengths of stay...

I wish it was a 'info only website' as it really is frustrating. Other hotel chains, Hilton, Marriott, etc have very effective online reservations. It is a general rule though, that when you check a website and see there is no availability, if you call the hotel directly, they usually still have rooms available. The website is only given a certain amount of rooms for offer.

Once you cancel the two days (11/23 and 11/24) over the phone with CRO, they will tell you the rate has changed. You can ask them to refund the diff between your deposit and the new room rate deposit. They may or may not do that - some CMs are more experienced than others & some can, some won't know how w/out booking a whole new ressie and that may not work w/out those first two nights.

Good luck. I've done this and that's been my experience.

We had this same problem just today. I called CRO and it also showed up the same way in her computer. I asked her to go ahead and start out with all of it and back out of the days I didn't need. She didn't even have to book all of the days, she backed out of the days I didn't need before she reserved it so it CAN be done even before it is reserved. Ours didn't include rate changes though so I don't know anything about that.

I just tried the website today for availability on either WL or AKL for Dec 6-10. All they showed for each, was concierge/club level. I went and called, and sure enough that was correct about WL, but AKL had alot of availability in savanah or pool view (with or without bunk beds).
I have had trouble in the past with the website as well.
I don't trust it.

When I check my dates for free dining, if I keep my dates as is, it will let me have ASMo for the entire stay (9/21-10/1) but if I enter 9/21-9/29 because we are switching to CR for 2 nights AP rate, it will say ASMo is unavailable. Steph

Another problem I just very recently had with the website.

I tried to book for an AP discount for a stay in August. The new/current AP discounts start Aug 5, but I'd need to check in Aug 4. I'm willing to pay regular rate for the one night of Aug 4. The site would not let me put in Aug 4 as my check-in date ???? It kept defaulting to Aug 5 on the Annual Passholder site.
If the website is going to make me book twice---once for Aug 4, and then the rest of the trip (Aug 5-8) as a seperate reservation, then that is crazy. I didn't call about that one, but I'll bet you could book it straight over the phone.
So the website is lacking..........

You do have to book it as two reservations. You can't have one reservation with two rates. Do it as two and have them linked. You'll have to stop at the desk to check out/in for the second part of the reservation. I did it that way last fall and it wasn't any trouble.
