I put some muffins in the oven tonight and then had to nurse Jacob before it was time to take them out, so I sent DH to take them out when the timer went off. I told him to take them out if they were golden brown on top, but he's color-blind and wanted something else to go on. So I told him how to do a toothpick test and where I keep the toothpicks. He brought me a muffin, and it was done just fine.
I was really proud of him for doing everything just right until I went to the kitchen. It turns out that instead of using a toothpick to test them, he used a wooden skewer meant to make kabobs on the grill. He said he didn't think it was right but he didn't see any normal toothpicks.
