This is us..

Just watched it and I'm glad that it was on again last night and I recorded it. I liked it!

I definitely couldn't understand why they were not doing a c section, and of course, it clicked at the end. I began to suspect that the twins were who they were as soon as the doctor said that one of the babies passed, but couldn't figure out how Randall was connected. Then as soon as the fireman said that a baby was dropped off, I knew. And then, I was thinking about when the doctor said about him "like still going home with three babies", I wondered, if they would end up with him, too! I thought it was great and I'm looking forward to see where this goes. I hope that the rest of the series was as good as this episode was. For me, it definitely was one of the better premieres on the new shows, so far.

I really enjoyed it as well! I was really fixated on the whole triplets with no c-section detail and I thought that it was going to be revealed that the couple was in some sort of religious cult that forbade surgery or medical intervention something like that. Really neat that it was all happening in the past. I think this show has potential, and I really hope it doesn't get cancelled like every other show I get involved with!

And, what happened to the parents.

I think the kids reference the dad being dead in current time, but nothing about mom...unless I misheard.

I liked it, I don't think it was any more unrealistic than any other drama on tv. They all embellish to make it more dramatic, otherwise all shows would be dull. I can't think of a single show where the reality of a plot line wouldn't often be handled differently or would have never happened at all.

The whole triplet thing drove me nuts. There is no way someone 34 weeks pregnant with 3 babies could lay down like that without having a hard time breathing. I think it would be rare for her not to be on bedrest, and not have a scheduled c/s, even back then. Heck, back then multiples were more rare - there would have been a whole team at the birth.

And they just gave them the firehouse baby? Oops, we made a medical error that caused the death of your son, but you can have this one.

I laughed at this, it is a TV show. It is funny how we can become so invested we apply reality to fantasy, notice I said we. I do it all the time when a show has someone in my career field.

My grandmother messed with the TV and cancelled the recording. :headache: It looks like it's on again over the weekend, so I'm going to try this again.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: My DH had our cable upgraded to XFinity One so he could talk to his remote. Well wasn't he pissed when he realized that it dumped all his saved shows. :rotfl::rotfl:

Should have known something was up when they were delivering naturally instead of a C-section but like Kimblebee, it wasn't until the smoking scene that I understood. :goodvibes

I kept thinking how unrealistic it was that she was having a high risk triplet birth and they didn't automatically go to a C-section. And then finally, I understood!

I finally got a chance to watch the show and loved it. The one thing that really bothered me is the reference to the Challenger explosion. It happened in Jan. 1986 and if these kids were born in 1980 they would have been 6 (most likely 5) and the Man-ny (can't remember his name) kept saying he was 7 and in 2nd grade. I really wish they'd gotten that right. I also suspected something was a little off when I saw the jean jacket. It reminded me of one my uncle had that I thought was so cool. I can't wait for the next episode!

I think they were born in 1979...maybe they were young 2nd graders???

Exactly. And don't we watch TV to be entertained? If every show was true to life, they'd be boring.

The pilot may have also been written in 2015, and they didn't catch that for continuity to real life events.
