My DD has been a patient at a nearby family medical office for about the last two years. She doesn't have to been seen very often, maybe once or twice a year at the most, and she has NEVER seen the primary doctor there, mainly his nurse practitioners, etc.
Well, we received a form letter from him (our DD's name was on a printed label on the envelope -- she's 17), going into this lengthly story about how he found out a few weeks ago that his practice had to file Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Then, he says, he found out his administration had formed a plan to "take over" his practice and run him out of business! He says he has since fired them.
Now, he's actually writing to all of his patients to ask them to help financially to fight this takeover because he doesn't have enough on his own to do it himself!
He goes on and on about how he was there for each and every one of his patients in their time of need and how he is asking for our help! He mentions sending $5, $10, or whatever one can to him at a Post Office Box he designates. It has to be a check or money order.
Well, I'm sorry he got into this mess, but I don't feel like he should be asking his patients for money to help him. That is totally unprofessional and brazen as you know what! I have never seen a letter like that in my whole life. I know he must be desperate, but I don't even feel as if we even want to go to his practice any longer. I feel no allegiance at all. In fact, when we went in there 2 weeks ago for a varicella titer (blood test for chicken pox for school), we waited an hour in the waiting room after our appt. time and there were NO OTHER PATIENTS THERE! Why did we have to wait an hour? When the nurse practitioner saw my DD, found out what we needed, we then had to wait in their lab for 20 minutes until someone else took her blood and never even saw the nurse practitioner again. The whole time we were there, there was no one else there besides the receptionist. Our DD still doesn't have the blood test results!
What do you think of this guy?

That is completely unprofessional! Good luck in finding a replacement doctor for your dd. This guy sounds like a quack.
