Someone needs to keep me off Petfinders, there's the cutest border collie/spaniel mix at the Oakland shelter. I keep telling myself we don't need another dog right now, but our lab keeps whining and looking for his buddy. How can you resist this face?

I cant resist, I cant go to those places. I cry.:sad1:

Especially our local ones, they're very sad. I spent way too much time going every other day looking for our dogs when they found a weak spot in our fence and got out over Labor Day weekend a couple of years ago. The lab was picked up by someone living in Rancho Murietta three weeks later, but we never found our border collie mix.:sad2:

Now you're asking the wrong people here. We're the ones who took three cats from the SPCA and I had to reign in Fran to keep her at three. She doesn't quite understand the part of "limit of four pets per household" and that we are on the radar of Animal Control, and we only have two official households.

What a cutie! Your dog needs a companion, I am a big believer in multiple pets because they love to have companions.

I'm a big believer they need companions too, especially since we both work during the day. It's just the timing is awful with us leaving next Sunday. Our DS and DDIL will be staying here so the only time we could drive to Oakland before they close is on Sat.

I've never had a pet but anxiety from a lost companion in an animal can be devastating.
My piano teacher always gets a new puppy when the oldest dog passes away.
She almost didn't last time as puppy stage is hard but Sheila was missing Alice and so a new puppy was adopted.

My DBF's sister had two dogs both quite 'old'. One was recently put down due to illness. Then sadly the other one was last week due to illness from separation anxiety :(
They can't afford to get a new dog (especially with the vet bills of the previous ones) so the three kids aren't doing the best with them both departing so close together.

As to why I popped back in...on a slightly happier note...
The pacific princess is in port.
I don't know anything about it but thought usnuz might be interested.

Love the pic, it brings back memories of my trip with my Dad in 1999.:goodvibes

Awe, thank you ! I know the spirit is coming there to port. Maybe one day I can get there by ship. I like the ships. I have alot of webcams I watch.

 for them, it's so hard for the kids to understand, so sad.:sad2:

Let's win the lottery so we can take the cruise out of SF and go to Sydney, a nice 4 week one. :thumbsup2 Hey a girl can dream can't she?

Well maybe the timing is good, you can think about it on your cruise and hopefully he will be there when you come back from your trip. Best to think about it before jumping in, but best not to get a pet the day before you leave.

I just received an email from the shelter, that he was adopted today. Yay for Rigo.

I was watching two dogs play all weekend. They were having fun.

There are lots of other dogs that need homes.

There sure is, our local shelters are filled with pitbull mixes, terriers and chihuahuas. Sadly, I'm just not into them, I lean toward medium size dogs like brittany spaniels, border collies, and aussies. I like small dogs, but they wouldn't do well out where we live, too many hawks and coyotes.

I'm game!

I assume that was the dog whose picture you showed. He was really cute. When you come back there will be the perfect dog. Poor Mac had to wait a while before he got some friends, and now he is very happy with all his pals.

Cute dog. He's the one that's adopted, right? Makes it an easy decision. Otherwise you know you'd be hounded to go to the pound for adopting him! :thumbsup2
