Hey y'all,
Orky, ya, I'm not exactly loving it, but i think i'm getting through. Our prof just assigned this huge ugly at-home lab assignment, on conservation of energy. Gaaah! That's due in 6 days, but then there's the bigger, scarier take-home EXAM that's due next Monday... that counts as 30% of my grade!!!!

I got an 84 on the last exam, and I've been getting B's and C's in the labs (except for the last one, where my friend and I accidentally turned in a copy of the same paper we worked on, so we both got zeros). Uh huh...
Well, folks, seems we've all got consensus on the fact that Disney HAS created two of the coolest, nicest hotels in the country, granted that some aspects of them may not adhere to the tastes of some. That nonwithstanding, the Yacht & Beach are still my faves, and I've even stayed at the GF Concierge. Someone once called it, "The Architecture of Reassurance". Especially poingant these days...I guess the whole New England waterfront brass-buttons-and-sand-between-the-toes thing just clicks in my mind, anytime. Not to mention that we did have really good experiences with the cast members...from the first guy at the front desk to the bellman on our last day, I found myself in casual conversation with almost all of these really...accessible people. Just a week ago, I was at the Four Seasons in Philadelphia; their staffers act like they own the place. Five star hotel my ***...anyway, it's still Disney.
My advice to y'all who don't find the Y&B to your tastes: really think about an atmosphere where you could find yourself in on a daily basis. Then, look at all the Disney hotels in a clump, check out pictures and our online FAQ forums, then visualize yourself there. Next, add the factors that you want to have in a "good" hotel, bare bones here, no purple dragons (to coin a phrase). THEN, put your mind completely at ease, if you can, add a dash of Disney magic (first-timers, if you forget the theme-parks-and-kids-stuff mythos for a sec you'll know what I mean), and Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo, there you, um, goo.

What you're left with is a range of two or three hotels on-property that you could have the best time at. Don't forget practical stuff like the parks you want to be near (if you're into that sort of thing), restaurants, and pools.
At any rate, short-term worries about little things in the Yacht & Beach Club shouldn't detract from the overall Disney-ness of the whole experience, except if you (and the CM's) are having a really bad day.
Thanks for sticking around, everyone, let's keep this place movin'. I may not be back here for over a week or two, but I'll keep an eye out online. Adios amigos,
JC
