I don't think anything is "Wrong" persay with the Beach Club, I just think the rooms are a little "worn"... The Yacht Club has just been ReFurbed and look "Newer" I beleive. I will know soon.....
BC Concierge...Here I come!!.....But I would love to know what was wrong with trudster's room???

As pooh's pal says there wasn't anything specific wrong with the room. We had booked a standard room. But it was definitely well worn. We arrived very late so spent one night in the room it was the next day when I said to DH that I hadn't paid 5 star money for a 3 star room. I'm sorry but I expect much better from a deluxe resort. The new room didn't disappoint.

Well I finally made it through all 54 pages. I think it took about 3 hours of reading. My eyes are so tired but it was worth it. I got alot of information and just want to thank all of you. I'm still trying to decide on a room request but I think I got all the info I need. Thanks again.

:smooth:

Just back tonight from BC and Wonder..........any questions ? I'll try to answer, no pics (sorry)....

Rere...

How was your trip??? Your room?

I have a question about the refurb of Yacht/Beach. We have two rooms at the Yacht club and a two-bedroom villa and Beach Club Villas booked at the end of Dec. Has the refurb of the Yacht Club ended? I read somewhere that it was noisy. Do you have any idea?

Also - did you get a chance to look at the Villas at all?

Thanks!

:D Hola AppleSister1...

Our rooms were standard view (part of land cruise pkg, we could not get water or garden view) at the end near Epcot. We requested this location as it was quiet and close to Boardwalk and World. It overlooked woods with lots of butterflies and birds, and we could see the fireworks a bit too. The only renovation signs that I saw at BC was a guy repairing the walls/wallpaper everyday in the hallways. It was a very busy and noisy lobby most of the time, but the pools were not crowded at all. We ate breakfast at YC each day, as the BC had characters bkfst (very noisy and busy as you might imagine). I must say that YC was cleaner and quieter. We noticed a definite decrease in castmembers and even a very cranky one at the BC store. However, we found the best ever CM at Guest Services, her name is Jackie, and if you need anything she is great. One of our party was ill for the firast 2 days and she sent her soup and gave her 2 free park hoppers because she missed her days.......Very wonderful lady!!!!
Anyway, didn't go inside Villas, but they lookeed nice. They were over by our rooms.
All in all, we loved the place..............:p

Rere -

Thanks! I stayed at the Yacht Club last trip, and other family members were at the Beach Club, so I got to see both resorts. Love the place! Too bad about the cranky CM, tho. What's up with that? I'll remember Janice's name!

Hola again, I forgot to mention that there was also some construction scaffolding at the pool. :p

Just back from YC. Our room on third floor was definately redone from when we were there in 2000 (we requested the same room!) Concierge floor definately also looked "fresher." (had access b/c of Grand Plan)
Work was being done on the second floor which I realized after I got off the elevator on the wrong floor. We never heard any noise except one time I heard a saw going when I was in the back elevator.
Not sure what was going on at the Beach Club, but my parents went with us and stayed there and they got bumped up to BC concierge!!
There was work being done on Stormalong bay and along the BC roof.

We don't go until December 26, so I imagine all YC refurb will be done by then.

I loved my room last time, would love to get it again. Duchess, did you request it ahead of time? I thought they frowned on specific room requests....

:bounce: :bounce:

We requested it at the time we made our room reservation. I think b/c it was our 5th anniversary and we spent our honeymoon and 2nd anniversary at WDW they let us have the room. The room is not really anything special, but we like it! My husband did notice when we checked in that the computer did say that we requested that specific room.

My room was nothing special either - first floor, standard view, but it happened to look out at the wedding gazebo. It was right next to the elevators, so a bit noisy, but I didn't really care. For some reason, I just really liked it. Maybe I'll try requesting it. What's the worst that can happen??????

I hope you had a great trip. Can't wait to get back there!

:bounce:

Just made it through all 53 pages of posts! What a great thread! I was planning on spending 7 nights at ASMo, but just changed my ressies so that the last 4 nights are at the BC!!! :) Couldn't pass up the great AP rate of $169 that starts Jan 1st! I'm even more excited since I will be celebrating my 30th B-Day on Jan 2nd and will now be at the BC for that!!! :Pinkbounc

Just back from a four day stay at YC!

I believe the renovations are now done there. We had rooms 4221 and 4223 and I love the renovations. They have gotten rid of the table with the checkered board pattern and the huge armour and replaced it with a table on wheels that slides under a wall desk kinda thing under a mirror with a hidden mickey on the top in the rope pattern. The tv now sits on a dresser in open view but it opens the room up even more.

There are no longer snacks in clear view... they are locked up in the mini bar area of the dresser and only accessable with the mini bar key...a good thing IMHO!

The comfy comforters on the beds are new with a nautical theme that also have a not so hidden mickey in them in the rope pattern. The hair dryer at the vanity also seconds as a night light which was kinda cool.
:p

The lights above the beds (2 above each bed) are now on dimmer switches which was excellent... you can set them to any level to create different lighting effects in your room!!

There is also a new lamp and table on the balcony side of the day bed which wasn't in my room last year...and added plus

All in all I have no problems with the YC renovations...they just made a great hotel even better!!!

We did see some workers doing their duty while we were there but it was at SAB and the area between YC and BC. I did hear from a couple at the BC that the renovations had started there and they could hear the noise in their room of carpeting being torn up and such.

I'm glad I picked the YC and when the holiday decorations went up during my stay... that was a bonus :teeth:

Oh BTW...anyone that goes to YC in the next week or two check out the wreath on the left side of the check-in desk and see if they have fixed the lights... the morning after they hung it up it was only half lite and the following day it was not lite at all....I hate when my holiday tree does the same thing....LOL

Leaving midweek for pre-Thanksgiving at BC. To anyone who has stayed recently in 1 BR suite... What can we expect? Any comments or suggestions? Always worry when we try a new place. Usually stay in BW Villas but none available this time. Always wondered what it's like on the other side of that lake and guess I'll find out soon!

To anyone who has just returned... How are the crowds at the parks? I know it will pick up just before Thanksgving and I am hoping we beat the rush.

We are leaving in two weeks for Beach Club Villas. I would love to here what the kitchen actually contains, like are there skillets etc., or just glasses, plates etc. Thanks!

I just returned from BCV on Monday. Here's what there is that I can remember: 1 med-lg skillett, 1 small saucepan, 1 large saucepan, cookie sheet, colandar, couple of tupperware all the utensils you need, glasses, dishes, etc. Pretty much a full kitchen, although that was a 1 bdrm, not sure what the studio has. Also had a DVD player and you could rent from the gift shop, but the studios didn't have any players in them. (I overheard a
disgruntled DVC member at the front desk.)
Wehad room 471, overlooking Epcot. Great balcony and great view! Let me know if you have any other questions. It was a fantastic resort and now I am toatally spoiled!

We will be checking in 12-1 and wonder if there will be any holiday events for children. I guess also any other children's activities we should look for.

Just got back from 1 BR suite at BC. Very roomy and comfortable for 4. Walk-in closet big enough for hanging clothes (altho short on hangers but could have asked for more) with still plenty of room to stash the suitcases out of sight.

Kids are getting older (6 & 9) and we tend to go where the wind takes us. Only pre-scheduled meal was at Chef Mickey's which we think has the best food selection and atmosphere for families. Several times we ended up back at the resort hungry but not wanting another disney burger or chicken tender. Concierge did great making last minute arrangements (for 8!) finding us good food within walking distance. They even managed to get us a fireworks cruise! Thumbs up to Kimberly and Josh.

Soft drinks are available in the concierge lounge but you have to ask. Forget that overpriced minibar back in the room because they will give you a few extra drinks to take back to the room. Breakfast included cereals, fruits, juice, milk, coffee and pastries (including Crispy Creme donuts). We never saw the lunch set-up but dinner had finger foods (bacon wrapped scallops were tasty) and peanut butter & jelly for kids in addition to wine (and I think beer too). This was the perfect late afternoon snack and held us until parks closed and we found a place to eat a sit down meal. Saw late-night set-up once with cookies and after-dinner drinks. Coffee, milk, soft drinks are available all day.

Weather was beautiful in that it was warm during the day but cooled off in the evening. Tentatively planned afternoon breaks but many days we decided to stay at the parks which means we bought several souvenier sweatshirts! My smart co-traveler saved money by buying a blanket at the Mexico pavillion.

Crowds were light at all parks thru our stay (Wed thru Monday the 25th) (except MK on Sat and Sun). I am certain that the Thanksgiving rush is already moving in.

I'm sure we will choose this resort again because of the proximity to EPCOT. But other perks included the awesome pool, the ability to boat to MGM, the option of using the monorail system to return from MK - it's as if we take a "short cut" thru EPCOT to get back to the BC. Another perk is the dining along the boardwalk and of course seeing Illuminations everynight. An extra perk this time was being able to see the shuttle launch. I had the benefit of a "local" who provided a play by play commentary (outside the ESPN club - how appropriate). It was neat seeing the flame color change and watching the boosters separate. It went up for a while and then stayed about 45 degrees on the horizon as it headed across the Atlantic. Now easy to see why they needed good weather in Spain.

I don't know how to do that fancy sign-off that other people do. Suffice it to say we've been twice a year for 5 years (always staying on site) and we are going on our 4th cruise this summer.
We will keep coming until our kids get sick of it and then we will come without them!
