I discovered the DIS and this thread in 2001 when I qualified to attend a conference at Disney World that was based at the Beach Club. We had a wonderful time and since then have visited the World several times with my family but never stayed at the BC or YC.

Now it's 2007 and I'm going back - for another conference but this time at the Yacht Club! I'm happy to find this thread is still here and look forward to getting up to speed on these great resorts. :)

We will be staying at the BC for the first time the first week of April (taking my Mom for the Flower & Garden Festival! :goodvibes ).

I have booked Mom the Gardens of the World tour one morning. It starts at 8:45am (before Epcot opens) and they meet at the Guest Services area just outside the main Epcot entrance.

My question is, what is the best way for me to get her there? I'm guessing we won't be able to walk through Future World since the park won't be open yet. Should I just drive over and park in the Epcot parking lot for that day? Any other options?

Thanks!

Congratulations on your stay at the Beach Club. My husband and I stayed there for the first time in October. It took us 6 minutes to get from our room to the EPCOT entrace at the International Gateway.

To answer your question, you may actually be able to cut through even if the park opens at 9:00. I would call the number you used to make the reservations and ask them. Also, check the dates below. They list the morning extra magic hours for April which means the park opens an hour earlier.

Morning Extra Magic Hours
Epcot® - April 1, 8, 17, 24

If you cannot cut through, just park in the EPCOT lot. Parking will be free since you are a Disney Resort guest. Have fun!

You can definately enter via the International Gateway for your tour. Once through the turnstiles you'll walk up the path toward the United Kingdom and at the rope there will be CM's with a list of those with tours and ADRs and you'll be allowed into the park.

hey! we just returned and have a question for all your experts!

we booked standard view room at bc ... got a handicapped room. the bathroom was HUGE! does anyone know if all bathrooms are this huge?

our room did not have a daybed, in our floor plan i could not see where there was any room for one.

where is the daybed usually? sorry to be asking so many odd questions! :) just trying to decide where to stay next trip and what type room to book!

thanks!

We stayed at the Yacht Club and their rooms are practically identical to Beach Club. While our room was not handicap accessible, we did not have a daybed in our room either and there would have been no room for it. We did have, however, a chair with an ottoman near the beds and a desk by the wall where a daybed would be. My parent's room had a daybed in it. Their room had no chair/ottoman and the desk was was positioned near the beds so as to have room for a daybed. Hope this helped.

I was thinking that we were able to enter Epcot before certain parts opened, but now I think it must have been before World Showcase opened. Anyway, I agree with the previous poster about just calling the number where you made the reservation to get their suggestion about how to enter the park.

We stayed at the BC last year, and we had 2 rooms with 2 beds and daybeds. You entered the room, the bathroom was on one side, and the heads of the beds were on the same side of the bathroom. The tv/dresser/fridge area was on the opposite wall, along with the daybed. The daybed was basically at the foot of my bed, but we had plenty of room. We also had a small desk & chair area that was on the balcony side. We had enough room to put up a pack & play there, and it didn't make the room feel crowded. Our other room (adjacent, not connecting) had the same layout but on opposite sides. The beds were wonderful! Good luck and have fun!

Thanks for all the replies on entrance before Epcot opens...I'm thinking maybe we'll just drive and park to avoid any hassle (and the long walk to the front from the International Gateway). I'll have a rental car, so it won't be a huge issue.

Thanks!

I'm looking for some info on the Beach Club, it's one of our possible choices for our Honeymoom Trip in December. We seem to hit a snag every time we pick a place but maybe this will be the one.

Between the Yacht and Beach Club, they look pretty simular to me but I like the BC a bit better. What kind of views are available from the BC room? Any of Epcot? What would I ask for if I wanted these rooms?

Also, I would love to know about the Villas. A 1 Bedroom little Villa might be just perfect for Honeymoon Lodging. Do these at all offer any kind of Park view?

Thank you for any info! :)

I personally think the Yacht Club might be better for your trip.

It's quieter and more for relaxing.

The Yacht club itself or does it have Villas? I have gotten the feeling the BC Villas would be wonderful, almost like a Honeymoon Suiteishness but not quite. I hear it has a Whirlpool tub. Definate Bonus there!

What makes you say Yacht club?

But still really want to know what view options we might have. :)

I would suggest BC all the way. BC has the villas, YC does not. However, the villas are not connected to the hotel, they are a bit removed. They are much more spacious and have more amenities inside the room, but rarely do they have a great view, i.e. the park, and they do not have room service every day.

Our recent stay was BC 5th floor concierge. A bit more pricey than the standard rooms for obvious reasons, but for us it was fantastic. We had a view of cresent lake, and the Boardwalk across the water. You can watch the friendship boats go back and forth. The service is spectacular, turn down, etc.

Also, the BC offers deluxe rooms as well, which have more sq ft, have access to conceirge, and MIGHT have the jetted tubs, can't remember.

The stroll to Epcot is amazing. That general area is an awesome pick for honeymooners. Lots of stuff for you to enjoy, quiet areas to discover, etc.

Have a great time, and enjoy the planning!

Well if you want to stay at the Villa's then the Yacht Club DOES not have those.

But if you're going to stay at the standard hotel I think the Yacht Club is a lot better.

I heard it's cleaner and such and it's certainly more peaceful.

For example, the Yacht Club lobby was quiet and peaceful with calming browns and wood and the Beach Club lobby was as loud as the parks with bright yellow colors and screaming children.

But both resorts are great either way and have a great trip. :)

If I were you, I'd go on allearsnet. com and choose based on which room decor appeals to you the most. Also, virtually all rooms at YC have balconies and not all rooms at BC do.

If you're basing your room needs to wanting the whirlpool tub and the villa style, then Beach Club Villas is for you.

However, IMHO I feel that the villas cater to many more families and it would not seem as much a place to honeymoon as the Yacht Club or Beach Club rooms. I've only been to the YC and I can say that it would be my dream place for a honeymoon. The whole feel of the place is wonderful. Our room was on the 1st floor and looked out toward the lagoon. We could see Illuminations every evening from our patio - even better when we took the very short stroll to the lagoon.

Here is a link to our YC vacation. There are some pics that show the room as well as our views. Yacht Club 11/03

Hi,

I spent my honeymoon at the BC ... it was magical. We had a ground floor room that opened onto the gardens. I had a wonderful time. Now, I vacation at the BC with my family and rarely notice "screaming children" in the lobby. I just prefer the whimsy and decor of the BC ... and the CM's are great!

Thank you for all your great info. We are still taking it all in. :) The Villas are still an option, but by no means final. They do have a 1 BR with a AAA rate available so that's good. We love the idea of the in room whirlpool, but on the other hand the Kitchen and stuff would be great big overkill. (we wont use it.)

Our fallback Hotel remains the AKL, where we stayed our first and only time back in July. We have constantly been torn between staying there (since we know we love it) or wanting to try one of the so many other resorts there are.

What kind of views are available from the Yachr or Beach Club Inns?

Also, I may be asking this in the wrong place but is there any Disney Property that offers an in room Whirlpool that is neither a Villa or a Honeymoon Suite that anyone knows?

Bump. :)

We are both really falling in love with the Beach Club. I think it's becoming our #1 choice now. But we are still thinking Beach Club Inn Vs Villas. Between say a Studio Villa or an Inn room. what do you guys think?

And the Yacht and beach Club Inn rooms are pretty simular aren't they?

Where could I check if the BC Inns do have rooms with Whirlpool/Jetted Tubs? I would be very interested in finding this out!

The Newport and Nantucket suites at the Beach Club have whirlpool tubs. I'll PM you with a website that you can view some pics of it.

I have so much info going through my head I can't remember everything.

I believe I read somewhere that the Villas do not have daily maid type service. Is this so?

Also, I would love some examples of the Beach Club Inn's Views. "Normal" Vs "Preferred" and is the latter worth the extra?

Thank you. :)
