This is the dawning of the rest of our lives... AT DISNEY WORLD!!!! COMPLETED 1/6!!!!

the whole monorail voice change thing has deeply upset me have you heard the new one? its awful it may be the worst thing that has ever happened to me i mean why change things disney you are perfect stop messing with stuff i mean what if they decided to replace stacey mine as well just go to six flags at that point point is stop changing stuff disney.

I'm upset too. I heard part of it but shut it off after about 8 seconds. I just am pretending it didn't happen. Sigh.

When they replace Stacey I will stay in bed for a week. Seriously. I can't even imagine it without her!

I agree that Living It Up is the best way to go for sure. I try to have the same philosophy, because everything else just isn't worth it, you know?

Cupcake....on my list.....along with every other cupcake on WDW's menus.

WPE is the food of life....along with cupcakes.

Absolutely!

Haha, me too. I've tried a lot of the WDW cupcakes but I have a really long list still to try. I'm going to have to get at least 15 a day on the next trip.

Long time lurker on your trip reports but I can't help myself anymore. I am an O.C. fanatic and love the references in this trip report and your last one! I make life decisions based on that show. Like which resort to stay at in Disney. My mom and I had it down to either Port Orleans Riverside or the French Quarter. In my little mind: Riverside! That's a town Julie is from on the O.C.! So I pick that one! Also I only tried tilapia because Sandy said he loved it on an episode. So again in my little mind: Tilapia! Sandy Cohen loves Tilapia! Okay I'll try it!! And I ended up loving it. I still watch that show an embarrassing amount. Like I'm currently on yet another marathon of the first season. I just can't get enough.

Anyway, your trip report is awesome so far and I love your writing style! :thumbsup2

Yay for lurkers coming out!! This is your official welcome to the party! :grouphug:

Always very happy to have more OC fans on this crazy train. You sound really obsessed which is good. I am going to watch the series over the summer and shake and cry the entire time.

Thanks so much! Glad you are enjoying!

HAHA okay so I tried a turkey leg for the first time in December, and you pretty much summed up my feelings about eating it. It was good, and I went straight Henry the Eighth on that thing, but I hated myself afterwards!

UGH leaving Disney property...no thank you. I totally know what you mean about "the bubble." :sad2:

But yay for getting your new camera, and new sunglasses for your mom, and making it back to Disney property quickly!!

I've never had WPE, but I really need to try it! It sounds delicious! :goodvibes

Yeah they were called Zebra Cupcakes! That's so weird that they had a different name when you were there. YUM that thing was so delicious!

Ugh don't even remind me about the monorail voice guy. I literally almost cried.

I have NEVER eaten a turkey leg. Is that weird?

I COMPLETELY understand how you feel leaving Disney property. I would just rather not live in the real world. :lmao:

I always get the same exact thing as you at WPE because of your old trip report. Now I'm OBSESSED. That mac and cheese just keeps getting better and better.

"went straight Henry the Eighth on that thing" :rotfl: Yeah, it doesn't make you feel so good. But for about 3 minutes in the middle, it's just amazing.

Ahh, you should definitely try and fit WPE into your next trip! It's just Heaven!

Well I'm glad you got to try it regardless of the name change! ;)

OMG lets not even talk about Monorail Voice Guy. RIP.

It IS weird you haven't had one since you are so obsessed with Disney food. You should try it one of these days! I wouldn't say it's a MUST, but you know, it's like a Disney staple.

I'm glad I could introduce that delicious meal into your life! It's really hard to try something else there cause I love the pizza and mac & cheese SO much.

Day 5, Part 1 In Which Minnie Mouse Freaks Out!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaawn. I slept in!

At Disney, this means it was about 7 AM when I finally rolled my lazy keister out of bed. Yes, I said keister. I am Kevin McCallister's uncle Frank. Please do not record me singing in the shower!

Uh....just kidding. It was about 9:30. And I'm not anyone's uncle. That I know of!

At home, sleeping in for me means that I wake up sometime in between one and three PM and then complain about McDonald's breakfast hours to whatever poor soul is nearest me. Why can't they be like IHOP? Breakfast all day.

There have been men on the moon, and yet McDonald's only sells Egg McMuffins until 10:30 AM.

What kind of crap is that? They need to do the IHOP thing and serve it all day. I actually love eating at IHOP not only because I can get breakfast at 5:00 PM but it reminds me of Disney. When I was little and we stayed off property, we went there every morning for breakfast.

I know, THE HORROR! Off property. Eating at a non-Disney restaurant! But IHOP is good. I mean, I don't go there while in Disney anymore because they don't have Tonga Toast, which is unacceptable. But back in those days, I loved it there. Luckily, there is one less than 5 minutes from where I live.

Btw. Just a random pet peeve.

I hate when people write out IHOP like this: iHop.

NO. It's not an Apple product. It's the International House of Pancakes!!!! Get it right.

Whoa. Wait. This is supposed to be a Disney Trip Report? I'm not supposed to ramble on about restaurants? Oh.

So anyway, I went to get breakfast at Everything Pop. They were still serving it. Whew.

On my very short walk (yay for our room location!), I took some pictures. I love taking pictures of this resort. It always looks so surreal.

I wasn't that hungry so I ordered the Kid's Mickey Waffles. They give you sausage, bacon, and applesauce with it. I don't like applesauce so (trying to hide the fact that I was buying this meal for myself), I said "She doesn't like applesauce, this will just go to waste, but thanks anyway." and handed it back to them.

The CM took it and said, "Do you like yogurt?"

I laughed. I guess a lot of adults order kids meals. I smiled and said no thank you. He said, "Are you sure?" and I said yes. The truth is, I don't know why I lied. I knew Disney would never be like "You're not a kid and you may not have this breakfast!!!!!!!!!!!" but I felt the need to anyway? Whatever!

I paid and headed straight back to the room to devour the breakfast I crave almost every morning: Mickey waffles!

6968420419_cfa3f6590b_b.jpg

YUUUM! The drink came with it, btw. Not bad for $5. I would have liked more bacon (ALWAYS WANT MORE BACON), but what can ya do? Also, before you think I'm a terrible daughter, my mom didn't want any food. She almost never eats in the morning, so I just filled up her refillable mug with her trusty breakfast: coffee!

I ate on my bed and I guess I was studying the comforter because I posted this on Twitter:
I just realized that Goofy is dressed as a Hippie on my bedspread. Sigh, Disney I love you.

Haha! It was just one of those little Disney details I love so much. Also, it reminded me of the FLAWLESS sequel to the masterpiece known as A Goofy Movie... AN EXTREMELY GOOFY MOVIE. When I write my autobiography, I think I'll steal that title. "Lia: An Extremely Goofy Life. By Lia. Hi." Anyway, in this movie Goofy dresses in 70's garb, which I know isn't the same as 60's hippie chic, but listen, Goofy in vintage clothing is just good stuff. Or maybe I just wanted to watch a movie starring that amazing dog. I DON'T KNOW, YOU GUYS. Why does Goofy have human qualities and Pluto is a normal dog? I DON'T KNOW, YOU GUYS. I wonder if Goofy looks at Pluto in disgust. Like "Dude, have some self respect! Stand up and put on some dern clothes! I love wearing vests." I DON'T KNOW!!!

I'm in a chatty mood today. I know that. You know what else I know, that I found out a few years ago and laughed about for like 3 days? Goofy's original name was Dippy Dawg. I'm not making this up. DAWG! Not dog. DAWG, like "Whazzup, Dawg?" Daaaaaaaaaaaawg. Anyway, back to the trip report.

We chilled out for awhile, got ready, and headed to the Magic Kingdom.

6968420645_63632dcda5_b.jpg

I saw that Mickey and Minnie were doing meet and greets at the Exposition Hall. I really wanted to make sure to meet and get a picture with them on this trip since we hadn't done that in awhile, and I figured now was just a good time as any. The wait said 15 minutes, which was fine cause we were really in no rush.

6822298848_fc29c7f75c_b.jpg

Wow, seeing this pic now I realize it's not called the Exposition Hall anymore! It's annoying that they call it a theater. That doesn't make sense since they removed the awesome movie theater that used to be in here! Who remembers that? And they had the history of Disney movies on the wall and all of those photo opportunities where you could pose with the character cut outs? But they weren't crappy like when you pose with your head on a cow's body at the local fair. They were really awesome and detailed and it was like you were standing in an actual Disney movie scene. My favorite thing, though, was just chilling out in there watching the shorts they would play. It was such a nice break from park touring. Sigh...

We entered and followed the signs to meet Master Magician, Mickey Mouse! We walked through the completely deserted line and a CM actually stepped in to escort us back there because otherwise we would have had no idea where to even go, since there were no people. We expected a 15 minute line, but what we found was one family ahead of us. And it was like 11:30! At the Magic Kingdom! And no one was in line to meet the most popular characters IN THE WORLD.

Early December rocks, people. It can't be denied. It's unfortunate that people usually wait on line for things at Disney. I hardly remember what that is like but I assume it's annoying?

After the family in front of us moved on, it was time for us meet the stars of this whole show!

MICKEY AND MINNIE MOUSE!

Every time I even SEE Mickey I get emotional. He just means so much to me. He has been with me every step of the way my entire life. He represents my childhood, of course, but when I see him it's not just nostalgia I feel, because the love is current. I still worship Mickey Mouse. He is the symbol of not only my most favorite place in the world, but also childhood and fun and innocence and joy and magic. How many things did you love AS AN INFANT that you still love now? I mean, besides naps, shiny objects, and games of peek-a-boo... Mickey is pretty much it, at least for me.

So I instantly ran up to him, yelled "HI MICKEY!!!" and gave him a hug that probably almost knocked him down. That would have been just lovely, me injuring Mickey Mouse. Luckily he is used to crazy fan enthusiasm. I said I love you and he gave me a kiss. I didn't want Minnie to get jealous so I instantly turned to hug her. After our hug she got a good look at what I was wearing and her reaction was PRICELESS.

As you'll see in the pics below (yes, I am now going to reveal photos of myself, stalk me IDGAF) I was not only wearing a Minnie Mouse shirt, but I was carrying a Minnie Mouse purse and had Minnie Mouse ears on.

Minnie instantly started jumping up and down and stomping her feet and pointing at all my Minnie fabulousness. She would bring her hand to her mouth (as if to say "Oh, my!") and then point again and then stomp her feet more. It was SO CUTE. She even tapped Mickey so that he would notice too and he started nodding and clapping. I told Minnie she was my favorite even though that isn't really true, since I can't pick a favorite character! I love so many! She instantly hugged me again. IT WAS THE CUTEST THING EVER.

So then we took pictures together! I'm including these even though I never post pics of myself because it was just such a great moment and my face really shows the excitement I was feeling at that moment. Ahh it was so wonderful! Plus, I'm quite proud of all my Minnie garb:

7253789086_dac4329f3b_z.jpg

I was sooo happy! My mom joined in for some pics too, though she really doesn't like having her pic online so those will stay in the Disney vault! Oh and btw, you can't really tell, but my earrings are the gloves that Mickey and Minnie wear... in the color pink! I love them!

It was definitely one of the best character experiences ever and I was left with that glow you get when you have a truly magical Disney moment. I was even happier than I usually am while at Disney! That just made my day and honestly, our whole trip. Man, you are really never too old for this stuff. I was on such a high after that.

Up next: More fun in the most magical of Kingdoms.

I have never ever heard of anyone calling IHOP iHop. That is kind of strange hahaha. I'm glad you (I mean, the other little girl you were buying the breakfast for :rolleyes1) got the Mickey waffles!

Minnie's reaction to your outfit was so cute!!! :goodvibes

But really, why can't McDonald's get with the program and serve breakfast all day? Sometimes I just want a hashbrown; is that so wrong? :sad2:

HAHA speaking of McDonald's and ordering kid's food, I'm going to merge those two topics. I always go to McDonald's and order the kid's meal, and when they ask me if it's for a boy or a girl I always say a boy in an attempt to throw them off...I'm sneaky, but I'm sure they know it's all really for me, because what little boy drinks diet coke with his cheeseburger, I mean really?

I always try to reserve one day at Disney to sleep in and take it easy. I'm so frantic all the time when I'm there, so that one opportunity to be kind of lazy at Disney is amazing! :goodvibes

Wow your pictures are great! That was a nice replacement camera! :thumbsup2

I still haven't been in the new "theater" to meet Mickey. I must do this on my next trip! :goodvibes That's so precious how Minnie reacted to your fan gear. I love experiences like that! Woody did that to me when I wore my Toy Story shirt and I was so excited.

By the way, you are lovely! :)

I like when you write your updates at one in the morning because they are extremely frumpy :rotfl: And they're brightening up my day haha. I'm cracking up over here.

The camera you bought takes really good pictures, by the way! They look really nice! :thumbsup2

I remember that theatre! I visited in once in 2004. I wish I was more aware of life at that point so I could have appreciated it. But I have a picture of my chubby little self and my cousin posing for a picture in the Snow White cut out :rotfl: Gooood times.

Aww such cute pictures!! :goodvibes I love it! I'm glad you had such a magical moment with them. I LOVE when that happens and you just leave somewhere feeling completely high on life. It's perfection! :cloud9:

ps I don't know if I have told you yet, but have you looked at yeahdisneyaudios.tumblr.com? I found a Sunset Boulevard Music loop and I thought of you. So you should definitely look into downloading it :)

There was an IHOP right next to where I used to work and my boss would always spell it iHop and then other people started doing it and I was just like no.

Did anyone make a "dawning of the age of Aquarius" joke yet? lol

-KD

I wish! The title is actually in reference to a Green Day song though. But the song you mentioned is part of one of my all time favorite movie scenes in the Out of Towners remake, where Steve Martin inadvertently gets high and sings and dances to it while running around Central Park. Goldie Hawn chases him and fun ensues. :thumbsup2

it's great to see your face!

Yes, I do have one of those! **waits for stalkers to find me** Be forewarned: I have weapons!!!

HAHA I'm glad I'm not the only one who wants hashbrowns in the afternoon and lies while ordering kids meals!

I love sleeping in at Disney as well, though not for that long or I get quite antsy. It's hard to balance when to slow the touring down and when to speed it up!

Thanks! I quite like it.

Aww. I love Woody so much! I will have to wear my Toy Story shirt when I go to meet him!

Thank you doll! You are very lovely yourself!!!

I didn't even write this at 1am, I just did the edits then. So what I'm saying is, I'm this frumpy ALL the time. You never know when the frumpiness will attack!!!

Aww! We have lots of pics from that too. I miss it so much!

Ahh I know, it was so magical that I still get all smiley and giggly when I think about it. It was just the perfect meeting :goodvibes

Yes, I love that site! I'm obsessive about the Hollywood Studios music, so I'm pretty sure I have it all, but I will check it out just in case. Thanks!

Aww!! I LOVE your Minnie outfit. It's so cute. Perfect. Where did you get the shirt? I just love it. And, you look so pretty. You're right; your face really does show how excited you are. :goodvibes

BTW, I loved your Home Alone comment. Classic haha. I still have an old recorder like Kevin had haha. Oh, the 90's!

Hello!
I’ve read both of your TRs and have loved both of them!
I was very excited when I got home today and saw that you updated :)

Mickey waffles <3 I’m seriously thinking about buying the Mickey waffle maker on Amazon. Even though I know they won’t taste exactly like at the parks, they are waffles, and they are Mickey shaped, so it’s all good.

I just found out this past Sunday that Goofy’s name was originally Dippy Dawg at D23’s Fanniversary Celebration they had. That’s so funny!

I really want to go at the beginning of December. School ruins everything!

Mickey and Minnie <3 They are so cute! ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo
I love that picture of you with them. Like you said, you look so happy!

LOL at you ordering a kids meal. Speaking of McDonalds also, I do that same thing when ordering a happy meal: "Can I get a chicken nugget happy meal with a root beer please," "Boy or Girl," ".......girl." And I pray its a disney toy haha. And your look of pure joy with Mick and Min is priceless :)!

Hey Lia,

We finally made it over from your "MCLOVIN" series, and are now all caught up on your latest WDW exploits. After reading your earlier trip report, it seemed like an almost impossible task to follow up on "The most entertaining DIS thread EVER". However, YOU HAVE DONE IT AGAIN, GREAT JOB!! :worship:

Can't wait for the next installment.

Haha, I loved this update, it's just so all over the place! :rotfl:

IHOP reminds me of childhood Disney trips too! We hardly ever ate AT Disney World, so when we went to IHOP in the morning, it was a big deal! Especially since back then, you could only find them in the south, now they're practically in every town in CT!

What kind of camera did you end up getting! (Did you already mention that and I already forgot? :rolleyes1) Your pictures are so great! Pop is so freakin cute and colorful, I love it! :cool1:

OMG your meet and greet with Mickey and Minnie is SO sweet! I love when characters react to you like that, it makes the experience so much more fun than just taking a picture and going about your business! And your whole Minnie ensemble is adorable! ::MinnieMo You look so happy in those pictures, I'm glad you posted them! :thumbsup2

Putting breakfast time limits is just lame. I honestly only like breakfast from McDonalds. They would probably make a lot more money if they sold it round the clock!! But instead they only get money from me personally when I go to the airport because that is when I am awake at that hour or not running late and hence can't make it in. SILLY MCDONALDS.

And Goofy. Oh Goofy. So I have a 3-year-old and he's only allowed to watch the Disney channel. (I know I'm biased but honestly, I CANNOT STAND ANY KID SHOW THAT IS NOT DISNEY!! They just irritate me. I can't handle it.) They have "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" and it's so fun to see all the characters. I mean, Minnie is doing well for herself. She opened up a "bow-tique" where she sells customized bows. And Goofy is always silly and is always searching for stinky shoes or his pants will fall down revealing his "pineapple underpants". It's so great.

I have also wondered many a times why he's so civilized and Pluto is still a dog. I mean, it's not even just that their both dogs. They are ALL animals who can wear clothes and talk...but they have a whole episode of pets. Why can't the pets talk? Is that what makes the difference? Idk. The other confusing thing is Figaro from Pinnochio is Minnie's cat now. When did that happen??? Also...apparently Peter Pan left Neverland and the place is now run by this guy named Jake and his friends. They do exactly what Peter did and just go on all sorts of adventures and are "rivals" with Hook. Okay...whatever, I guess that's not THAT confusing. The confusing part is Peter comes back to visit sometimes and he still isn't grown up!! I thought the way to stay a child forever was to stay there? But he left! Where does he even go? To London? Unknown lands? Yeah...you think you have questions now. Just wait until you have a toddler and you are watching that channel and wondering why the heck things are so crazy!! (Let's not even get started on the Tinkerbell movies haha)

Speaking of having kids...that is one perk. When I don't want to admit something from the child menu or whatever is for me, I have him. :rotfl: The sad part is that everyone in real life knows me too well and they are like "Oh you are going to see Brave on opening day? Is this for Landon OR FOR YOU?" all accusingly. FINE IT'S FOR ME OKAY?!?!? Haters. :cool2: And then we are FINALLY getting a Disney Store closeby. I'm obviously going to be there opening day like an hour before because they are doing a show and giving out free stuff and there will be characters and a girl's gotta get her fix, ya know? And they judge me because I want to leave my son at home for that. Rude. I mean we'll obviously be back like weekly! I just don't want to chase a toddler around opening day with the craziness!

So fun to wear character stuff and then MEET that character! I love the attention you got. How special. Those mice are so fabulous. When I met them, I was wearing red and black and so we look all matchy matchy! I didn't even plan it but I love it!! LOVE your pictures with them. You look so happy!! I'm so glad you had such a good time with them!! :goodvibes

(I think your chattiness made me all talkative too!)

:lmao: I've never seen someone turn a restaurant into an Apple product and I'm so glad about that. HAHAHA. That's hilarious. (As a side note... WHAT IF THERE WAS a product called iHop??? What would it do??? The possibilities are ENDLESS.)

OMG a breakdancer and a PAC MAN on the same building?!?! I didn't see that coming. Oh Disney.

AND THEN A FRIENDS REFERENCE WAS PUT INTO PLAY. When Chandler wonders why Donald feels the need to wrap himself with a towel when he gets out of the shower even though he never wears pants! (Yeah the Goofy and Pluto "I DON'T KNOW, YOU GUYS!" thing reminded me hahaha).

AHHH your mouse pictures are so adorable! You look so happy!!!
