Both DH and I are storm spotters for Dallas county. We also have a 3000+ mile road trip we are taking in about 7 weeks. Going from our home to see family in Ohio.. then down to florida for our cruise/vero and then back home.

Yesterday we purchased mobile internet for my laptop. We also have a GPS tracking/map program that will talk to us and give us directions for our trip and or storm spotting.

So here I am.. sitting in the car going down I-30 in Dallas on our way to our DDs dance competition in Arlington.. and I am on the DIS!

Now.. how cool is that?!!

Very neat, Jennifer!! :thumbsup2

Yesterday I was at the Fermilab here in the Chicago area, for the 25th annual Severe Weather Seminar that is put on by Tom Skilling, meteorologist at WGN. What a great show, about 2,500 in attendance, two 5 hour sessions. http://www.fnal.gov/pub/today/

Jennifer,

May I ask whose service you're using? And have you run a speed test on your connection yet? I'm thinking about doing this, but am still hesitant . . .

We are using Verizon. We have not run a speed test. We just installed it this morning and tried it out on the way to the competition.

It worked great.. just like we were at home on broadband. :thumbsup2

THAT is SO COOL!!!! I am amazed by people who are NOT technologically challenged!!!!

I hope you weren't the one driving ;).

BTW - I know you've been interested before and haven't been able to come, but we are having another DFW DIS meet on the the 29th of this month http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1061156. Hope you can make it!

LOLOLOL No! DH was the one driving. Thanks for the invite. :goodvibes I am going to check on it.. but I think that is the weekend of the last dance competition for the season.. or maybe it as team dance pix weekend. I will check on it. :)

 My 14yo DD & I were at the competition at UTA last night. We probably saw your DD dance. She isn't competing this year but many of her friends are and she's understudy for her group at dance.

Very neat!!!!

Emily danced around 7 - 7:30 ish. I am not sure of the exact time ( I was doing "homework" and only half watched the other teams).

We left right after she performed because we had the long drive back to Rowlett AND my DH and oldest DD need to be up at 5:30 am. There was no way we were going to be able to stick around until the awards were finished.

Quite a few girls in her team left early for that same reason.

I have no idea how they did yet. LOL Emily did kinda fall out of one of her turns though. She of course thought they were terrible. Being the of course non biased Mom that I am I thought they did pretty good. I am not thrilled with her jazz instructor though. Not sure I like her style. It is a bit "mature" for 13 - 14 yr olds if you get my drift. But Emily has been going there for 10 years and she doesn't want to move to a different studio now.

So how did your DDs friend do?

They did pretty well, got a 1st overall in the seniors. All their dances got at least gold or better. What dance was it and I can see if I remember the score?

My DD's studio did Pirates, it is probably the most memorable of their dances. I know what you mean about the mature. I've seen some things at competitions that make me appreciate our studio. They just don't go there.
