This is really embarrassing, but...

Has anyone had problems "fitting" into rides at Universal? Of course, I'm talking about plus-size people.

I've heard nightmare stories about people not fitting into the seats on the rides at Universal, especially at Islands of Adventure, and I'm all stressed about it. I'm 5'3" and weigh about 260!!! Anyone have any info they can share? :worried:

I'm not a plus size person, but I had a guy that was about 6'3" and 325+ pounds next to me on the Hulk back in 2003. Two people had to push down on the upper body restraint to get it latched. It was a little embarassing for him since the first girl indicated he wasn't going to fit which held up the ride, but someone else came along and they got the belt latched and we were off.

I think it's all going to be based on how big your upper body is. The staff that was running the Hulk seem to handle the situation very well.

We frequently go to Cedar Point in Ohio and starting last year they implemented some pretty strict weight policies and at the beginning of last year the staff wasn't handling it very well IMHO. We went once last year and every ride seemed to have people that were not allowed on because of the new size restrictions (very upset people). I heard later in the year most of the major rides at seats at the beginning of the ride line were people could test fit themselves into the seats before waiting in line and finding out they wouldn't be allowed to ride.

I believe IOA has test fit seats at the entrance to each major ride. If you can fit into the test seats you will be good to go.

As for some of the kids oriented rides, I about 155 and I barely fit in some of the Suess Landing rides.

Your going to have fun either way, have a good trip!

I'm 6'2" or so and a bit .. large .. (more heavy than you) and I've had zero problems with any rides but Dudley Do Right (legs didnt fit) although that could have been a problem with four of us (me and 3 friends) trying to squeeze in and all about 6 feet tall, we had to jam our legs together somehow.

On Hulk and Dueling Dragons, there are "big boy" seats in the third and sixth rows of each train. The ride ops should put bigger people in these seats but, you might want to request it on Hulk. Dueling Dragons you can pick which row you want to sit in. Remember...rows three and six. It's the seat with the two buckles.

On ROTM, they usually put bigger people in the back row since there's more room and they must be able to close the restraint until a certain amount of the yellow is showing. Other than that, you shouldn't have a problem.

There are trial seats out front of the ride for you to try before you enter the queue.

i'm the same size as you & have had problems on only 2 rides -- jimmy neutron at US & popeye & bluto's bilge rat barges at IOA.

all you have to do on jimmy neutron is stand up & wait to sit as the lap bar is going down.

popeye has special seats with larger seatbelts. tell the CM you need one so you won't be embarrassed if regular belt doesn't fit & you have to move. :wave2:

If you go to www.allearsnet.com they have a section called Universal Studios People at Large or something similar to that. It gives accounts of larger sized people and their experiences on the rides. If you go to Search and put in Large People it will pop it up. FYI there is also the same type of information for the rides at Disney.
