but I'll ask anyway -
If there is something I want to open from Publisher - is there anything else that I can open it in ? I don't have Publisher on this computer & there are some templates I want to open that were made in Publisher - I'm trying to figure out how to get them...

From my experience, you can't open it unless you have microsoft publisher. I use it often, but who knows; there may be someone out there that knows something I don't know. If so, let him/her speak. :)

I've had that problem, too. Unfortunately, I don't think there is anything else that will open a Publisher document. I did 2 things:

1. I ordered a trial version of Publisher from Microsoft's website. The CD took about a week to arrive, and it gave me 30 days to access the documents I needed.

2. I downloaded PrimoPDF freeware. This allows you to turn something into a PDF file that can be opened with Adobe Acrobat reader. You "print" the file, but choose to "print" it to PrimoPDF, which then prompts you to save the document as a PDF file.

Sorry that it's a lengthy process - wish there was a fast solution I could offer.

Oh, the other thing that might work is to save it to a CD-ROM or disk and take it in to your local library. Some libraries have computers for general use and may have Publisher available. I did that in grad school.

Hope it works out for you!

One other thing that might work - there's a freeware program called "openoffice" that allows you to open up any MS Office program. I'm not 100% sure it works on Publisher, but you could check it out.

That is what I was going to recomend as well. I know it works with other microsoft programs. Its worth a try.

You can download Microsoft Publisher Recovery from Cnet. This allows you to 'recover' a damaged publisher document into an RTF format (which should readable in pretty much any other desktop document software. There's no reason why I can see that it wouldn't 'recover' a undamaged document.

If that doesn't work, you could always email me the document as I've got publisher installed and I could save it as something else for you. PM me if you are interested.
