:confused3 Bicker you seem to have a lot of knowledge on the DDP. This is our first time using it. I read your FAQ on the DDP and it was very helpful. My question is. My dd will be 10 on our next trip, I have checked out all the menu's, if she doesn't find anything on the Adult menu can she order from the kids menu and just use her Adult TS. The cost doesn't matter I just want to know if we have that option.
Thanks for your help

No guarantees, but generally Disney restaurants will prepare a larger portion of a child meal for an older child or adult. If you're paying cash, they'd charge you an "adult" price; since you're on the Dining Plan, they'd accept the "adult" Dining Plan credit.

We had some that allowed it and some that did not. My son has some favorites and a few places would allow him to use the Guest 10+ CS or TS instead.

we were on the DDP in December (yes before the 2007 changes) and we ate at Chef's. Youngest daughter (11) ordered the escargot appetizer, the "kids" chicken strips and creme brulee...we had no problem. Hope this helps

The servers are very accommodating. Just because a dish is fix a certain way, you can modify it. My 12 year old grandson does it all of the time. He has been at WDW on the DDP several times and is an adult. He looks at the adult menu and will request the adult menu with children options. At the 50s PT he might order the adult fried chicken, but instead of mashed potatoes and greens, he'll get french fries and corn. At LeCellier, he got the BBQ filet and they put the BBQ sauce on the side (not on the filet) and he got a baked potatoe (or french fries) instead of cream cheese mashed potatoes. Same thing for Kona Cafe. Just look at the menu and check out the side items, as that is what he uses to substitute and all restraurants seem to have fries, so he get those instead of the mashed potatoes with "skins on them" yuck (according to him). He seems to do well on the appetizers as he likes shrimp and 9 out of 10 places seem to have it. When they don't he gets a salad. The only time he ever got a modified adult/child's meal was at Kona's last year and he got the kids pasta and tom sauce in an adult serving--they charged us $9.99 for it.

Last year I was in the same situation and wrote to Disney Dining to ask about my DD using adult credits to purchase kids meals. The letter stated she could order from whichever menu she preferred but it indicated that a dining credit would be used--seemed redundant to me since I was planning on tht, but they did take thte time to spell that out for me! In any event she mostly ordered from the adult menu, when she ordered fromt he child's menu she received larger portions and when she was not sure the CM's answered her questions and expalined the food choices to her. Occasionally she'd mix and match--kids app. of crudite with adult entree and kids dessert, etc.

We just got back and two of my three teenagers ordered from the kids menu several times, once at LeCellier! My 13 yo DS had a hot dog and 19 yo DD had pasta. At Garden Grill where the food is served family style, the server brought out the adult and kids selections and all three kids opted for the kids dessert where you decorate a cupcake. DH and I had the best bread pudding of the trip there (and we tried it almost everywhere).

My now 13 y/o dd has been paying the adult price now for three years but ordering from the kids menus. I knew going in, that the DDP was not going to be a good deal for her, but since everyone in the room had to be on it, so be it. She had no problems at all.
