Pretty regularly at work, we will get a fax that I need to sign and fax back. The forms often specify that it must be an original signature and not a signature stamp. We have a pretty high quality signature stamp. I find it hard to believe that they would ever notice on a faxed copy if the signature was real or not.
On the flip side, there is a government form that I sign regularly. That also has to be an original signature. This form gets mailed, not faxed, so they get the actual document. For a while, I was signing them with my fountain pen and they kept sending it back saying it was a stamp and needed to be an original. So even when the signature is real, they don't accept it.
