Third time's the charm...karyn's journal

That's great that you are not hungry on the Special K Diet! I tried it before and just couldn't stick to it. I just got so bored and was starving all the time (this was before they had all the bars and other yummy options!). I hope it works for you!

Yay for getting that walk in! Hopefully your DH will get home in time for you to go again. Keep it up!!! :cheer2:

Karyn, really good job on the Special K diet! Even if you just do this for a short time to jump start it is a great thing. And you may be able to do it for quite awhile. Sometimes its nice to just have a regimented plan in place you can follow easily. I am thinking you might be on to something! I hope you get your walk in, if not, there's always tomorrow! You are really doing well, don't let that number get you down. It might be water and some muscle gain since you have been walking. Just keep up your good work and it will go down like you want it to!

Weight this morning was 135!!! That's a 2.2 pound loss. I'm on a roll!! :cool1: I really like the Special K diet because I wasn't hungry for most of the day yesterday. I think that I may be able to stick with this for a while.

Breakfast...Special K meal bar and banana

Lunch...parmesan noodles

I'll eat cereal and fruit for dinner. Tomorrow I'll do better with the veggies.

I switched it up today and ate my meal for lunch instead of dinner. That was a lot better than yesterday! I ate a bowl of cereal for dinner and I'll wash it down with an apple. I got some pink lady apples that are so sweet! They are a lot better than the red delicious that I had been buying. It doesn't appear that DH will be home for me to walk this evening, but the kids go back to school tomorrow and I can walk a little bit then. My step class SHOULD be tomorrow evening. We'll see...

Did you get your walk in yesterday? Great job sticking with your plan, keep it up!

I just had a bowl of cereal for breakfast and I am planning on grilled chicken and a vegetable for lunch. I have my step class tonight, so I'll eat cereal for dinner. So far, the plan seems to be working for me. I didn't have to stretch out the waistband of my jeans this morning!

(12:30 PM)
I ate a really good lunch. I grilled a chicken breast and made some mashed potatoes. I found some individual trays of broc and cheese and corn (Green Giant) at Walmart this morning. It's one serving in each tray. I had broc and cheese with my chicken and potatoes. I'll do cereal for dinner so I'm not exercising on a full stomach!

(7:50 PM)
Well, I blew it again. DH and I are having major problems that are not getting any better. I was so excited about my step class tonight. Got there at 5:55 for the 6PM class...and waited...and waited. I finally went up to the desk and she said that the class had been changed to a circuit training class that was meeting in a different room. WHY AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT DIDN'T KNOW THAT??? So I came back home...and ate chicken pot pie. Probably 20 points worth. I feel rotten, but this whole day has been rotten. I almost don't want to feel better, you know? Tomorrow is another day...

(7:40 AM)
My weight this morning was back up to 136.6. I was really expecting that and hopefully I can get back on board today. I am going to forget about the step class and try to walk every day that the weather allows. Cereal and an apple for breakfast. I want to walk today, so I will try to do that while the kids are at school. It's pretty cold, :cold: but I should be able to at least get a mile in.

(3:53 PM)
Okay, the stress is really getting to me. I overdid it for lunch...again. I didn't walk and I feel terrible. DD has been pulling out her eyelashes, but I think I have finally broken her of it. Naturally, DS decided to try pulling his out today at school. So now I have 2 kids and hardly an eyelash between them. I feel like things are spinning out of control for me. I have really got to get things under control soon. I just don't know how...

I'm sorry to hear you and DH are having problems. I've been there and it is no fun! Hopefully you will be able to work things out. Have you considered seeing a counselor? I'm sure the military has that available to you.

You need to ask for an updated class schedule at the gym! Don't give up on the Step class, just find out when it is actually going to be held and go! It'll give you something additional to just walking.

I hope you got your walk in today! Hang in there and don't let the stress get to you.

karyn, I am so sorry you and your dh are having some problems right now. It happens to all married couples. I agree, maybe some counseling through either the military or your church? It can really help, even just a couple of sessions. I will really keep you two in my prayers and thoughts. And dont worrry about the scale going up. When it comes on fast, it goes back off fast. Chicken pot pie (the ultimate comfort food) is full of salt, so you are probably just holding some water. Get back on your Special K diet and it will start coming off again! Bummer about the step class. My old gym had a website that was updated all the time. I learned that the hard way after I showed up for some classes that were cancelled. Check and see if yours does so that you can check before you go. Don't give up Karyn, you can and WILL do this!:grouphug:

(7:47 AM)
The scale wasn't so bad this morning. 136 pounds. I ate cereal for dinner last night and walked a mile. Today is supposed to be the last "warm" day for a while, so I need to get out and walk. The temps are predicted to slide down over the next week. I am still in a funk, but hopefully, I can get out of it today. Thanks Amy and Amy for the advice. It helps to know that there are people out there for support and encouragement.

I hope you get out of your funk soon! I was in one right before Christmas, and I hated it! At least you know you are in one and now you can work to get out of it. Did you get an updated class schedule from your gym? I'm sure they have something you can do while it's freezing outside!

Weight this morning was 134.8!! I really ate good yesterday. I didn't do cereal twice, but I ate healthy...and it shows!!

Yesterday...

Breakfast-cereal and milk

Lunch-grilled chicken and a little stuffing

Dinner-I found these AWESOME pizzas from Schwan's. I had the pepperoni pizza...they have a whole grain thin crust and taste AMAZING!!

Snack-banana and fat free vanilla pudding

I feel a little more on track today. I didn't go to the step class last night, but I will try to walk this evening before the cold blast hits! We should be in the teens by Saturday. I am going on Saturday to trade in my Ford Focus...the kids are getting bigger, but the backseat isn't !! I want a Ford Escape. Can't wait!!

Karyn, things seem to be going better for you and I am so glad! That is great news on the scale. See, a sudden gain can suddenly go away! You are really doing well with your food. Those pizzas sound very good. Keep up your hard work, and also congrats on your new car! What is a Ford Escape? I think your cold and our cold are the same system. Can't wait for that huh?

A new car, how fun!!! That'll be nice to get a vehicle that actually fits everyone!

I'm glad to see the scale is going back down, keep it up!

Things got kind of rough around here for a while, and I decided to crawl into a hole and eat for a few days. I have come back into the real world and have decided that I'll stay here for a while! I ate and ate and ate for about 3days straight and got up to 137 pounds. I have since gotten back on the Special K diet and was 134.2 this morning. Things are looking better! I got the new car (Ford Escape) and I absolutely love it. It's just big enough for all of us. I started back to classes at the community college on Monday. I have some really tough classes this semester. The snow is driving me crazy...it snowed on Sunday and Monday and it just won't get warm enough for it to melt. I love snow when you can stay at home and enjoy it. We got 7 inches on Sunday night and the kids STILL had school on Monday morning! I miss the South where it would snow 2 inches and you would be out of school until it melted.

Congrats on the new car! And good for you taking some classes! I don't know what your schedule is like, but be sure to take some healthy snacks if you need them between classes. You don't want to fall into the vending machine trap!

The good thing about winter is that it doesn't last forever! It'll be gone before you know it, hang in there.

Not too much going on today. Lots of snow is still on the ground and I am TIRED OF IT!! I ate a HUGE lunch, so I haven't been hungry for dinner. I guess I just ate all of my points at one time! I was halfway through a Hershey bar this afternoon when I realized what I was doing and stopped. No veggies today, :rolleyes1 but I'll work on that tomorrow.

Breakfast-none...I was late for class

Lunch-ate everything but the kitchen sink. Noodles with parmesan and soy meatballs (don't knock them until you try them!)

snack-half of a Hershey bar...not one of the small ones, either. I ate 1 1/2 servings. :guilty:

I have decided to get back to Weight Watchers on Thursday. I need some accountability, and that seems to be the best way. I have done very well over the past few days. I haven't been on the scale, so I don't know what the numbers are. DH has been in sunny California, so I haven't had to cook meals. I have been able to watch what I eat a lot more closely.

Today...

Breakfast...none

Lunch...3 pieces of blue hake, grilled (6 points)
mashed potatoes (8 points)

Dinner...I haven't decided yet how hungry I am...I have 6 points left, so I may do some Special K

That's great that you are going back to WW. I think it might help to have to weigh-in weekly and have someone there to support you when you need it the most. Hang in there, you will meet your goal!

I think its great your are going back to WW. You can still do the Special K diet to an extent doing it along with the points. Congrats on the new car. I agree, winter and snow are the pits! Hang in there and keep up your good work, you can do it!!!

I'm back...again. I'm just going to keep trying until I beat this thing. I'm going to Disney in 2 months, and I really need to get into shape. I have hung up motivational signs in the kitchen to make me think twice about what I am eating. I am doing pretty good...today has been tough, but I still have time to get back on track.

This morning, I was 135.2. Not too shabby, but I still have some work to do. Being short is so unfair sometimes! I have eaten too much today, but it was SOOOO good. I'm not snacking as often, so that helps.

Breakfast (9:30 am)...chicken pot pie made with 98% ff cream of chicken, 2 cans of Veg-All, a pouch of Tyson chicken, and 10 Pillsbury biscuits (the small ones). I had 3 biscuits and the pot pie that came with them.

Lunch (12:30 pm)...PB&J sandwich with a very tiny bit of PB, some Fritos, and 7 cheese cubes

Dinner (3:30 pm)...3 more biscuits with chicken pot pie

What could I have done differently? I could have eaten less pot pie.
What was good about today? I ate LOTS of vegetables that I normally do not eat at all.

I am about to put in a Leslie Sansone DVD. I have about 10 of them, so I can do lots of different workouts each day. I just have to get past this dang laziness!!

And I'm off...:yay:
