So I haven't looked in quite a while, since I'm not planning a WDW trip just now, but in checking for a family member the other day I noticed there are NO WDW onsite rooms available at 3rd party sies like Orbitz, etc. Is this something new that I've missed? Or am I just looking at the wrong times? The only options that pop up 'onsite' are Swan and Dolphin....

I asked this question the other day and no one seems to know why. It is very strange to me!

It's usually like that with the third party sites. Last year I booked with Orbitz on Oct. 5th, 2015 for January 2016. I'm guessing it was around that time that they became available. ::yes::
The year prior I booked on Orbitz on October 9th, 2014.

I'm waiting patiently for January 2017. ;);)

Oh,ok...so maybe they come up seasonally? I had assumed they were always available.... every time I've looked in the past they were there, tho sometimes not much discounted....

I'm assuming that they buy their block of rooms at certain times - maybe quarterly.

Once bought they become available.

I've wondered the same think looking for 2017 dates. Usually we have booked pretty far out. Even when we were AP holders, Orbitz rates often beat discounted AP rates through Disney, so it's nice to compare.

The Expedia group (which includes Travelocity, Hotwire, Orbitz, Cheaptickets, Hotels.com and others) doesn't seem to have Disney hotels for 2017 right now. My guess is that Expedia hasn't finalized their contract with Disney yet. The other big conglomerate, Priceline (which includes Booking.com) does seem to have 2017 dates.

Priceline only seems to have through March 2017. I do remember that you can't book as far in advance with the 3rd party sites. But you usually have to wait until it's closer to get their discounts added to the room anyway.

about how far in advance of the date do they post discounts? looking for april 2017 and trying to guess about when I would expect to see the discount on those sites.

right now they only have through December (so only 3 month out), but back in May they had through October (6 months out).
