Is it better to go to an Apple Store or to an AT&T store?:confused3

And, although this has nothing to do with my question above, when in 2010 is Apple's exclusive contract with AT&T supposed to expire? The only thing holding me back from getting the iphone is worrying about AT&T coverage.

Thanks!

I bought mine at the AT&T store -- they were very helpful at getting my information from my old phone transferred to the new phone. Then, I went to the Apple store and took a free class on how to use the iPhone. That was good, too. (I could finally figure out the weather somewhere other than Cupertino, CA!)

AT&T coverage is fine where I live -- don't know when their contract runs out.

Enjoy!

The current contract runs out on June 2010, but they are working on extending that and the general assumption is it will extend two more years. Apple has a sweet deal with it being exclusive to AT&T because they basically control it. So most likely it won't be available on other networks for awhile. AT&T is amping up coverage everywhere so it is possible the coverage is better in your area than you think. :) Mine has gotten much faster over the last couple months and I never have less than 2-3 bars, even in the basement data center of my DH's work. lol

**edited to add** Since you don't already have AT&T I would purchase it at one of their stores as you will need to pick a plan, etc.. :)

I got mine on line since I wanted a refurbished one, so I just made my own choices on line regarding the plan.

The coverage in our area has no problems at all.

And I love the phone! I can now use it for everything, including my XM radio. I love having the mapping, and applications are great. Like checking movie theaters nearby and what's playing is way faster than using the computer.

Good luck with your choices. :)

I went into Walmart to price it there and the lady working in the cell phone section suggested that I get mine from Best Buy because they have a protection plan for the iphone.

I LOVE my iphone. In fact, I lean toward the "using it too much" side. I really need to curve my appetite.

I despise the AT&T service. I have at least 1-2 dropped calls a day. (I do use my phone a lot).

This has happened to me consistently in Little Rock, New Orleans, New York, Chicago, Orlando and San Francisco (I travel a lot). Everyone that I talk to via phone is used to my phone dropping service.

The only thing that I like about the iphone is the internet connection - but I recently bought a netbook that I carry in my tote bag so I don't use my iphone that much anymore for internet access. I had 3 Treo phones prior to the iphone. The Treo/Palm contact manager was far superior to the iphone - but the internet access was not good at all.

The iphone works on heat from your finger when you touch it. If you have been talking with the phone next to your face and the screen is warm you cannot make the screen recognize your finger. I can't tell you how many times I have not been able to end a call or answer a call as my finger is not 'hot" enough.

I have the 3g that came out last summer. Maybe the new phone that just came out is better.

Buddy of mine has one. He loves the phone, hates the service and really wants to go back to Verizon if he could just get an iPhone from them.

I have an unlocked Iphone I use on Tmobile network..bought it from Craigslist locked and my sister who has a macbook was able to unlock it for me in about 10-15 minutes....

I absolutely LOVE my phone..I switched to TMobile to get the sidekick wich I hated after 3 months or so..I was using the Blast as a back up because the sidekick anoyed me THAT badly .. I have been using the Iphone since Feb and am very happy with it :)

There are so many things you can add to it, and the google maps/ navigation is a lifesaver (literally!)..
