We are having a hard time getting affordable airline tickets into Orlando for our December trip to Disney World and Disney Cruise. Does anyone have any experience with a shuttle from the Tampa airport? What is a good comany to go with. We need a shuttle to Port Orleans and then to Port Canaveral and back to Tampa. I'm just trying to decide if the money saved by flying into Tampa would we worth it or would we end up paying more for a shuttle.

Thanks for any help,
Kerianne

I can't help you with the shuttle info but wanted to mention that we are flying in tampa this Dec. too. We found better flights and prices flying into Tampa. We are going to rent a car from National.

I don't think there is a shuttle out of the Tampa airport. We rented a car last year when we did this. Its less than 90 minutes from the airport to WDW and any easy drive.

Thanks for the information. I will have to look into renting a car. Actually two cars, there are 8 of us.

After checking out the major car rental agencies' prices, you need to sharpen the pencil and do the calculations. There are many possibilities, but maybe you could check the possibility of turning in one car after you get to Disney. Or.........you might check out if a van rental is available from Tampa for the eight of you. I will make a quick uninvestigated GUESS that a 10 passenger van would go for about $45 per hour, with a certain number of hours (probably 5) minimum to take your group to Orlando.
Or.......there are many limousine services at http://www.tampaairport.com/transportation/transportation_grnd_trans.html You might want to contact various ones to see what they would charge round-trip.

If you haven't been there already, the Tampa airport is great and it is easy to get to Disney from the Tampa airport. But, you need to factor in the extra cost of getting to and from Tampa to Orlando, over and above the cost savings of flying to Tampa rather than Orlando.

Good luck.

We flew into TPA last May. I had to make the same decision about transportation from the airport and found that a rental car was FAR cheaper than any of the shuttle services. Even two small cars might be cheaper than shuttles to all of the places you want to go to.
Good luck.
