Thinking about joining

Hi all,

I am thinking about joining the DVC (still).

Can you tell me what additional benefits there are to the DVC (i.e. dining and shopping discounts). Is there a place I can find this info before I buy? Is there a list that is published?

Are there discounts on park tickets? What stores honor the discounts? And where can I dine to get the discounts?

If the discounts are what is going to determin if you buy or not, don't do it. Discounts are "perks" and can change at any time. Most timeshares don't offer them at all, so we are all grateful that DVC does offer some. The current most popular perk is $100 dicount on the annual passes. Having the AP also gives you access to opurchasing a DDE card for $50 which gives you 20% discount on many restaurants on site.

Ditto what Diane said. Four months ago the only DVC ticket discount was 10% off the length of stay pass. Now it's a generous AP discount. Tomorrow we may not have a ticket discount.

Consider the perks gravy rather than justification for buying. The perk that pushes you over the edge in your decision may be gone by the time you make your first DVC stay.

I agree with other posters, do not join for the discounts. One big problem here at DVC is they are selling it as some kind of savings. If you are somehow trying to figure with the discounts and the "so called" savings they give you as a sale pitch then you should think twice about joining. DVC is NOT a place to join to save money.

Okay,

After reading your comments as well as the link that CarolMN sent, I totally agree. Most of the meal discounts are places you wouldn't really want to take 3 kids. (that's how many I am up to now).

Not that I would base my decision on that only. Trust me. But I have a growing family of 5 now, and we go at least once a year. I would really like larger accommadations for my money. I just like to research every detail before I jump.
