Thinking about adding on

We currently own all of our points at AKV and thinking about adding on a small contract of 50-100 points. We are thinking about just adding on to AKV again because we really like trying to get 2 bedroom value rooms to make points go the farthest. Is there anything I'm not thinking of that would make it better to add on at another resort than AKV. We will have around or over 400 points after this addition. I'm welcoming all opinions. Thanks!

I like owning at 2 resorts. Sometimes a split stay or sometimes we alternate. If you are mostly looking for 2 bedrooms 50-100 won't be very useful use that way, unless you get 100 and use them every other year.

I like having two use years. Most of my points are October, but I have a summer trip booked with my other contract that I might cancel. This lets me plan a small trip past my banking deadline using the other UY.

if your goal is the value rooms, then you need AKL points.

The reason to add on at a different resort is to stay there. If your plan is to get bigger rooms/and longer stays at AKV just add on there. We own at a lot of DVC resorts but only go to WDW for 4 days at a time usually so we like being able to book at the different resorts each time at the 11 month window. If you don’t want to move rooms or will not take multiple trips per year I think you should keep all your points at AKV.

I agree with this. 50-100 points in larger rooms won’t really get you many nights at other resorts unless you play the bank borrow game. And even then you will have an odd number of left over points. For a small add on to get 2BR I would KISS and add on at AKV. Not sure what direct pricing is versus resale right now, but at the smaller purchase amounts direct may even make sense to do (faster, simpler, have points ASAP etc)
Edit
Looks like fairly stripped 100 point contracts at AKV are listed at around 145pp and direct is $186 (don’t think there are incentives). $4000 ish more in total, but you will get current UY points. Math still does not totally add up, but it’s close enough where I wouldn’t think it’s foolish to just add on direct. A 50 point or so contact I would 100% do direct unless I found a steal on a resale.

@db24, I don't know if your original AKV points are unrestricted or not, but another perk to buying direct, especially for a small contract, is the ability to use them at all resorts. I would do this especially if your current points are unrestricted (direct or pre-2019 resale).

I agree with the others about keeping it simple and adding on at AKV, given the number of points you have and the room size you desire.
