Things you didn't do and regreted

Regret...the time I thought it would be fun to invite my parents to join us. UUGH! :scared1: WHAT WAS I THINKING?!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: We also planned our trip with my parents. It was a lot of fun and we have many good memories, but a week of togetherness got old. If I would ever go back with extended family we would plan more alone time for just our immediate family. We still kick ourselves about not insisting more (or paying)that my mom rent a wheelchair or EVC. She had a total knee replacement recently and was miserable when we were there, but she was determined not to have to resort to feeling "old and helpless." Bless her heart she made it with her cane and a lot of pain killers, but I think we all would've had more fun.

I also regret:
Not buying theme park music CD's thinking I could get it from my local Disney store, or buying myself an ornament.
Not getting to ride Splash Mountain due to breakdowns or fast pass times.

Guess what? We are going back in June!! (With just our family!) :cheer2:

Didn't do RRC or TOT at MGM or Soarin' because of time issues. Couldn't ride Test Track at Epcot because of rain. I also got some misinformation about "Wishes" and was told it was Halloween themed from now until Halloween, so we skipped it, only to find out there were REGULAR "Wishes' too. That is my MAIN regret and I'm kinda mad about it!
You missed EVERYTHING. Are you sure you were at WDW?

Too many things missed to regret anything, we'll just have to keep going back.

It sure does make for a good excuse to go back though doesn't it?? :teeth:

*Not buying something when I saw it, thinking I would get back to get it 'later'...never happened.

Oh this is SOOooo true... and you can never remember where exactly you saw it to go back!

I have an 8 yr old son and plan to eat at CRT anyway...for myself!
YOU GO GIRL!!! We went when my son was 7 (only child). It turned out great! Even though it was just dinner and not a character meal Cindy was in the waiting area when we arrived and we got a 'private audience'!! He was so taken back by her attention that he blushed, bright red! Best memory of our trip!
PLUS while we were eating Captain Hook was chasing Peter Pan around the ledge outside the window! My son loved it! :goodvibes

River Country! We always said that we would do it next trip & then it was gone!!
SD :paw:

Thing I regret Not doing:
Long ago, before I had a clue about planning, we didn't do Osborne Family Lights because on our way out from Fantasmic when we asked the CM for directions he said it wasn't worth doing. :faint:

How I'll make up for it:
We're finally going in early Dec. again and we WILL be seeing the OFL this time!

Thing I regret doing:
Having my dd ride Space Mountain. And no, I didn't force her, but she was pretty apprehesive. She hated it and screamed mommy, mommy, mommy the whole time and I felt like the worst mom in the world. :guilty:

How I'll make up for it:
I promised her she never has to ride it again!

I regret going to Boma and not going to F/W fest. It was horrible, total waste of money. Maybe Jikos is better. I did enjoy seeing the AKL though, very pretty and unique. I also regret not making time to see Soarin and swimming in the Dolphins pool. We could have gone to TL, but decided to stay at the hotel, total let down. Very unDisney pool. I also regert going to MNSSHP, way too crowded. But I am going back in April!!! I will go to TL and ride Soarin!!!!!

Yeah, my in-laws went with us in June. I will NEVER do that again.

I have regretted not seeing the show at the Diamond Horseshoe during our first trip. Soon after they closed it down to turn it into that show with Goofy and the Toy Story characters.

I also regret never having watched the parades at MGM and AK. Nobody in my family is ever interested, so we go on to something else.
Next time I will insist on watching them.

I hope you have a magical time:flower:

We went to all the parks including Typoon Lagoon, but skipped Blizzard Beach. We just didn't get around to it. I didn't think my kids would notice, but my DS still reminds me 1 1/2 years later! :guilty: He loved it when we had visited two years before that. I'll have to be sure we hit it on our next trip, hopefully in 2006.

:earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy:

Disney Quest to me wasn't worth the money, expensive tickets- should of went to one of the water parks with that money. Not planning my dinner ressies later in the evening- we ate lunch around 1 or 2 pm and were too full for dinner at 5pm. That was a newbie mistake- not knowing!! Didn't spend too much time at Epcot (went there our 1st day and not used to Orlando heat, am from the north). Next time will be better.

Loved MK at night- took my breath away being on main street USA seeing all of the lights and the castle lit up- beautiful. Watching my husband act like a kid with the character greetings- flirting with Minnie like a school aged boy!! Seeing what a wonderful time my family had on our first disney trip ever!!

WORST THING EVER- WAITING FOR NEXT SEPTEMBER TO ROLL AROUND TO GO BACK TO THE HOUSE OF THE MOUSE..

I tried to stop and appreciate things alond the way, but like most people I also wanted to get to attractions and avoid lines....several times my DS 6 wanted to stop to look at things like the spots at AK that are small exploration type things, and we pushed onward to Lion King Festival.

Although they enjoyed the WL Pool, I wish I had taken the attitude that it was like an attraction and relaxed instead of wanting them to come back and get ready to re-enter the parks.

I wish I had taken the time to get good seats for the fireworks and relaxed and enjoyed them since that is one of my DS 10's favorite things.

Most of all I wish I had listened when my DS 6 said his stomach really hurt instead of dragging him to MK where he vomitted as soon as we got through the turnstile.

About 10 years ago, we were staying at ASSp. My DS7 wanted a Disney mini-football to use of the football field that was just outside our door. I refused to buy it based on the premise that he had 2 or 3 mini-footballs at home. I did not realize how badly he wanted the football until we got home...

Since my wife and kids don't ask for much, I established an unannounced policy for WDW. If my DW, DD, or DS want something at WDW they get it. Face reality, you've spent $$$$ to do a family vacation at WDW. Why worry about spending an extra $10-100? If you can't afford the little extra, maybe your shouldn't be at WDW...

I totally agree with you. I did say no a couple of times, ( you know kids, they want things for color, size, shape etc...) but for the most part, I let them have what they wanted, cause I knew they would not be able to get it later.

1. We just came back from a family grand gathering, and I regret that we did not do this sooner, when my Mom was still alive. She died unexpectedly at 62 of pancreatic cancer. She was never sick prior to this, and I thought she'd live into her 90s. I'm sure there would have been some issues, as dear Mom could sometimes be a pain :) , but I wish we had the memories of the good times there would certainly have been.

2. I want to spend a whole day just going through the World Showcase at Epcot. I've never had a chance to see all of the sights, shops and people in each country.

I have been twice and haven't seen Illuminations yet.The first trip we had a WISHES cruise on the day we went to ePCOT and had to leave. The second trip I planned for it and had to leave early because my DD1 started running a high fever.
I didn't care for the Jungle Cruise.

I'm so sorry that your mom wasn't there for your gathering. I think you presented a good lesson though for everyone, which is to live for today and do all the things you want to do, especially with family, whether it's a vacation or something else. None of us are garaunteed a tomorrow. I'm sure your mom was with you in spirit.

We have had wonderful trips to WDW, but the last one ended on a sour note, so I guess my regret was leaving MGM for the last day and it rained. So we didn't get to see the parade, Mike and Sully (DS4 asked everyday was was crushed), FAntasmic....just a dreary way to end a great trip. MORAL? Don't leave something you can't live without doing for the last day, even if you are thinking it will be the "Grand Finale" It may not work out that way! ::MickeyMo
