My boyfriend was a first-timer last year when we went and even though we lost 4 days because of hurricane frances it was still absolutely perfect. The problem is that because it was so empty when we finally got there we got everything done, all the disney parks, saw all the disney hotels, went to the water parks, lots of the restaurants, stayed offsite, stayed onsite, did universal, ioi and all the shopping you can imagine. Now my boyfriend wants to go back this summer but I'm not so sure, I can't imagine what we'll do for two weeks, especially as neither of us are too eager to do all the disney parks again. We're on a reasonably small budget, we get paid weekly so are likely to book a cheap holiday but will probably have quite a lot of spending money. We're not old enough to drink or hire a car.....SO I NEED SOME INSPIRATION. I love that he wants to go back, but the more i think about it the more im reluctant to go again, when there are other parts of the world to explore. I'd love some motivation to go back! Maybe some suggestions on what we could do? Thanks!!!

I hate to say it, but we only go every other year. It seems like you did a lot of stuff, and you certainly won't get that accomplished this summer, unless there is another hurricane or 2 to scare people away. I love WDW, but feel like there are plenty of other places to go. However, you probably won't hear that from anyone else that responds.

Contrary to popular belief, there is far more to do in the Disney/Orlando area then just visit theme parks. Orlando is a pretty good size city with restaurants, museums, shopping areas, etc. You could easily spend a week or two there and never set foot in a theme park.

Some things you might not have done last time: Visit Celebration, the town Disney built on 192. They have a very quaint downtown area with shops, restaurants and a movie theater. Go to the Millenium Mall for some upscale shopping. And don't miss the art gallery located next to the mall. Make dinner reservations at the Gaylord Palms hotel. Spend some time before/after dinner strolling through their incredible atrium lobby. It is quite a sight to see.

As for Disney onsite things, I find it impossible to believe that you actually did "everything." How about booking one or two of the many behind the scenes tours that Disney offers? Did you get to the Hoop-De-Doo or the Polynesian Luau? Take out a couple of speedboats for an hour. Try to book an Illuminations cruise.

The list is endless. If you do decide to go back, I'm quite sure you can find tons of things like these to do that you didn't do last year. Good luck deciding.

We do something different each time we go to save money. One time we didn't go into the parks went on the monrail and visited all the hotels on the stops. Listen to the orchestra at the Floridian Hotel then walk around and had ice cream.

Did you see the night shows on the Boardwalk and watch the fireworks from there. Sat on the beach at the Ploy.and watch the MK fireworks. In Ecpot stop and watch all the shows they have.

Pin trade can be fun.

Look for the hidden Mickey's. See who finds the most. Take the ferry from trans. center to MK.

Go to the Dolphin Hotel for ice cream and watch their servers dance to the tune's of the 50's.

Have fish and chips at the Rose and Crown. There are so many things to do and see. Ask others on this board and they will find what the like to do or see.

I can think of alot of non - disney things to do but you would need a car. If you are not old enough to rent one yet, you may be stuck. We also like to go every other year and go to places like Mexico, the DR, etc in between. Love both kind of vacations. We personally could not do only DW for 2 weeks as our teens are more into thrill rides found at Usf/IOA and Busch Gardens. Maybe wait until you both want to do DW again or you can rent a car, whichever comes first.

I agree with AJKmom. If you feel you've done it all, I would NOT spend another two whole weeks in Orlando this year. You're young adults, see MORE of the country or world and try WDW again next year.

Try visiting the FL coast/beaches. If you want to stay with the disney theme, book a room at Disney's Vero Beach resort. We booked their Inn rooms for a promo rate of $110 in 2000. All we had to do was go to a DVC presentation that lasted about an hour. For this we got an ocean view room with a short walk to the beach and all the touches of Disney. We rented jet skis, swam in the ocean, lounged by the pool etc. They have a bar in the resort too that often has some sort of entertainment. I don't think you'd need 2 weeks there. But we loved our Disney beach vacation. You could also try looking into renting points from a DVC Member too : http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=29 But the Inn rooms offer the best views of the ocean. You need to specify "ocean view". And if you don't want to stay at Vero Beach, there are plently of beautiful non-Disney beach resort. Or maybe split up your 2 weeks with the parks one week and the beach the next (to wind down and relax).

I think given that you are a) going in the summer when it is stinking hot and humid in Florida not to mention pretty crowded at WDW, b) you can't rent a car, c) you're on a budget and d) you're not really that enthusiastic about going back so soon, you should really consider going somewhere else this time.

I don't know where you live or if you have a car but my suggestions would be either a road trip to some national parks and other monuments of interest (if you like the outdoors at all) or you could fly to some famous big city like New York or San Francisco and use publc transportation. Otherwise, if you are already on the West coast you could probably get a pretty cheap flight to Hawaii. Hawaii can be expensive but it doesn't have to be. If your bf really wants to do Disney again you could go to DL (similar to WDW but different) and then move on to do something else. You could try a cruise - that way you can sightsee without having to drive. I'm sure there are some pretty affordable cruises.

Anyway I just wanted to say there is nothing that kills the mood of a trip more than remembering how much fun you had last time and realizing that it just not the same this time.

HTH

I would go somewhere else too - just to compare it to WDW!!! (the best place in the World - my opinion)
