My family is thinking about spending an afternoon at Fort Wilderness on our next vacation. Can someone please list for me all the things one can see and do at this campground? My boys ages are 11, 9 and 4.

Thank you!
Kimberly

There is a petting zoo and the horse barn, also pony rides or trial rides.

I believe you can rent canoes and other water vehicles.

Well....here goes!

The Meadows Recreation Area has the Bike Barn, where you can rent bikes to explore the campground & trails. You can rent canoes & paddleboats and float around the little lake & river that winds through the campground. You can rent a golf cart if you want to explore a little faster!

There is also a Trading Post in the Meadows Area where you can buy food and Disney merchandise.

The campfire program is also held here every evening. They start out with a singalong around a huge campfire where you can roast marshmallows. Chip & Dale visit for awhile too! Then, they show a full-length Disney movie on the outdoor screen. There are bleachers and benches to sit on. There's also a concession stand, called the Chuckwagon, here where you can get nachos, ice cream, hot dogs, popcorn, etc. during the campfire program. The campfire program is free for all WDW resort guests.

The Settlement Depot area has Pioneer Hall, where you can see the Hoop Dee Doo Dinner show (make reservations far in advance). This is also where you will find the Trail's End Buffet, where they serve all 3 meals at very reasonable prices in a fun western-style atmosphere! Right behind Pioneer Hall is the petting farm, where you can walk around and feed & pet the goats. Minnie Moo also lives here! They give pony rides to the kids here during the day. You can also visit the blacksmith shop right next to the petting farm.

Nightly hayrides take off at 6:30pm from in front of Pioneer Hall. The rides are (I think) $6 per person.

There is another Trading Post in the Settlement area too.

Near the Settlement Area is the marina, where you can rent watermice and other boats. This is also where you catch the boat to/from Magic Kingdom and a couple of MK resorts.

On top of all that, there are walking trails, a beach to lie on or play volleyball on, basketball courts and tetherball courts.

Anything I've missed?? :)

Wow! I'm printing out your post, Rhonda. I guess we'll definately spend an afternoon and evening here!

Thanks!
Kimberly

Just as an FYI, The chuckwagon is closed for refurbishment. No one knew when it would reopen. The selection is limited to pre packaged foods, No fresh popcorn or hot dogs.
