Things I would never have done without the DIS

The snack thread was invaluable in giving us great snack choices. YUM :)

Ridmax...this made our trip twice as productive and half as exhasting!!

Renting a boat for illuminations with money we save by bringing our own water. Who would know water would be that much without dis?

40 pecent off 2 yrs in a row!

Best time to get adrs and how to use new system. We ate in the castle and tuska house before the parks opened!!!!

We've been back a few days now, and want to thank all the Diser's for the wonderful tips. We learned so much and tried to use them all to our advantage. I know we missed several stuff and will have to go back. Here were some of our favorites.

We made a reservation at Sci-Fi for dinner. We heard they had really good burgers here, but they are not on the dinner menu; they're only on the lunch menu. Thanks to all the Diser's, we learned you can still order them for dinner.

Secret Paths at MK and AK. Worked like a charm.

Best spots to view Wishes and Illuminations. Wishes we viewed at the entrance to Tomorrowland and Illuminations at the top of the stairs by O'Canada gift shop.

Which rides to get fast passes for right away. Toy Story Mania by far was the best one we got.

Early ADR's for Character Breakfast's.

And our favorite activity to pass the time, looking for Hidden Mickey's. We even cheated a little and bought the book.

Where can I find out more information?

If I had never joined the Dis boards I wouldn't look like a maniac taking pictures of my food at every restaurant! :lmao:

It's really hard to count all of the things I've learned from The Dis. Definitely countless items. However, the pictures that people have taken over the years are really invaluable to the rest of us. We've made many great (and avoided many bad) dining choices thanks to all the pics people have taken and all the families that have been driven nuts!! :thanks:

My latest discovery:

That you can do online check-in for your return flight from the parks. Even if you are staying offsite! Just go to guest services with your confirmation number and they will check you in and print your boarding passes.

I never would have written so openly and candidly about my experiences on any other forum. TheDIS has some magnificent souls. And some not quite so magnificent.

WOW I can not believe the amount of things I have learned from this thread alone! I've made about 4 pages of notes to add into my already intense planning for our trip in January. DIS had definitly helped with our first vacation in 2009, and it's already helped with our upcoming one.

Thanks!!:)

Maybe these ideas will help start it up. If it wasn't for Dis i wouldn't have known that the sword in the stone sometimes moves. After both older sibs tried and tried my tiny ballerina girl lifted it up the first try!

We ate at Pinocchino's haus and by walking around a bit found one of the tables that overlooks it's a small word.

If you eat in France for lunch and not dinner and time your meal right you can see Remy. So cute!

All free (you have to eat anyway!)

I would have never saved $2500 on my vacation in May! 6 nights CSR, 8 nights SSR 2 bedroom villa.

I'll try to post some other things I've learned at busy times and see if we can get some newer tips for you. I see you are new:welcome:

I came here for some info in 2006 and never left:goodvibes You will get great info on lots of stuff here and many of us have made friends too. Good luck on your trip planning!

Beware there is alot of construction going on over the next year or two. Make sure you check out the referb list and look at pix of construction. If this will ruin the magic you may want to time your trip differently. We have decided to wait to go back even with the 40% discount. There was more construction in 2010 than on our first trip in 2009. While it was tolerable this year we're not sure the 40% off is worth it. But then again we were blessed to go twice for a little more than the price of one trip! Castle views are amazing at 40% off:dance3:

At what point do you hit cancel? Do you click on book now? Or when does the question pop up why did you cancel? I put it in my saved offers and then removed it and it popped up do you want to cancel and I did but nothing asked me why.

Without the Dis I would never have known about discount codes, I would have never got to ride in the front of the monorail, and I never would have known about Wishes Cruises. :) I would have also been one of those first-timers with NO ADR's on our first trip! So thank goodness for the DIS!

I seem to remember going all the way through book now then canceling before entering credit info. As you may know Disneys computers are notriously fickle. What they do one day they don't seem to do the next. You might want to check one of the newer code threads on the budget boards to see what they are doing this week.:)
