Things I would never have done without the DIS

Not sure the question was ever answered, but the Grey Goose Slushies and Gran Marnier Slushies can be found in the France pavilion.

Things I learned from the Dis (just the highlights)
*To be picked up at the airport by a limo to save time
*TGM
*The importance of ADRs and how much fun a lot of the Dining Experiences are
*Lapu Lapus at the Poly bar and Grey Goose Slushies in Epcot
*Waking up Tink
*BBB, our daughters love it there
*That I would love the Poly and concierge
*That DVC was the right choice for us
*About the paintbrushes at Tom Sawyer Island
*Grocery deliveries
*The importance of rope drop
*Fireworks cruises
I am sure there are tons more, those are the ones that stick out in my mind

I never would have known about:
  • Fireworks Cruises
  • JellyRolls!
  • MNSSHP
  • Sitting up in the Train Station for the Fireworks at MK
  • Doing Rope Drop to get TSM Fast Passes at the Studios
I also never would have known about half of the amazing dining options!
  • Narcoossees and Custom Made Cakes
  • The California Grill, their amazing food, and their view of Wishes
  • Getting an early Tusker House Breakfast so we could get to the Safari faster and see more animals
  • The "sitting" area behind Flame Tree BBQ
  • Sanaa - Most relaxing dining experience EVER!
  • School Bread
  • Gran Marnier Slushies

Just read all 18 pages - and my list of things I can add that I don't recall having been said yet is pretty small....but here goes

Hoop De Doo - DH and I never would have gone to this show without the great reviews from the dis - it is one of our favorite highlights from several years of trips - DH still sings "Hungry Women" song....

Watching Electrical Light Parade from beach at FW - prior to our Hoop De Doo reservation....

Little show or opening ceremony at rope drop - so cute at AK

Cinnamon rolls at Main St. bakery - delish...

and everything everyone else has already posted - esp. dole whips ;)

I'm in the very early stages of planning my first trip with my son... this has given me some great starting points! I hope all of you continue to keep posting! Thanks!

I wouldn't have:
Shown up at Rope Drop
Auditioned for American Idol Experience
Stayed at the CSR
Called for ADRs early enough to get them
Had a Dole Whip
Used Ridemax/Unofficial Guide
Had nearly as much fun as I did last year ;)

DIS is responsible for so much but here are some:

1) Buying DVC:thumbsup2
2) Adding on more points at DVC:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
3) Baggalini
4) Crocs
5) LGMH and Message board on the door
6) Frogg Togg Chilly Pad
7) 1st Haircut at Main Street Barber Shop
8) Ability to watch AK Parade twice in Africa (or go later and still be able to see it)
9) Photopass and private photo sessions
10) Mickey Tie Dye shirts
11) Homemade Autograph books
12) Trip Reports
13) Friends who love Disney as much as I do!:lovestruc

Without the DIS Boards I would have never known about special discounts which makes the yearly trip a little more affordable. Knowing where to watch Wishes and IllumiNations from was also a HUGE help. How about knowing that you're actually allowed to stay in the parks after the official closing? LOVE IT!!!

I got knocked on the family board for this but...............

I never thought of my daughter getting her first period at Disney until I read about it on the Dis. After reading that I bought appropriate pads for a young girl to bring with. Lo and behold, it happened and I thank Dis for being prepared.

Sooooo much stuff, but here are the main ones:

ADR's
Dole Whip Floats
Tour Guide Mike.
the importance of a touring plan
rope drop
free ice water in the parks
Grey Goose Slushie
the wonderful margaritas in Mexico in Epcot
Orlando Stroller Company
picking a pearl in Epcot
Goofy's Candy Company in DTD
pre-ordering the Photo Pass CD
That staying off-site could be so affordable and "right" for our family

Our trip would not have been nearly as much fun without the DIS

There are some things that I learned about on the Dis, like the paintbrushes on Tom Sawyer Island and the waking-up Tinkerbell thing.

But I can't think of anything I actually did because of the DIS except the messenger bag.

When everyone was ordering the messenger bag, I got sucked in...and the lining ripped out of mine, too!! :teeth:

Oh, and I kept trying PM EMHs because I kept hearing that they weren't always so bad...but they really are always so bad, lol. Quit that. :)

If it weren't for the DIS I would have never known:

That you did't have to pay for fast passes
About FREE DINING yay!!!!
All they yummy and delicious food I will consume on this upcoming trip
How the transportation system really works, I certainly would have been the person taking the wrong bus to get to where I needed to go.:scared1::rotfl:
About wait times
EMH's and which parks to avoid
Tourig plans for the park, last time I went over 10 years ago I didn't have one and it was a mess.
Shows like Fantasmic
I'm also guessing I would have probably never stayed onsite:scared1:IK IK...

OOOOH!! this is a fun thread! :goodvibes

Things I wouldn't have know about and what we're going to do on our Sept trip thanks to the Dis.....

1. go to MNSSHP : never considered it until everyone got us so excited about it !! GO DIS !! :cheer2:

2. eat dinner at Flying Fish. another restaurant that I never considered (or thought about ) until reading the dining review thread.

3. GOT A PIN CODE!! after reading and MUCH determination :dance3:

4. Booked the GF for our trip kind of always thought that was out of reach. we were lucky to get a pin code. :lovestruc

5. Booked Narcoosse's another restaurant I would never have thought of....especially w/ a 4 1/2 year old. But, we're very excited to try it!

6. Deluxe dining plan we were going to do the reg dp until we read about the deluxe and all it offers and go figure, it turns out it's going to be a better match for us and save us money. THAT is always good.

7. The Budget Board I wholeheartedly thank my budget board Dis-Friends for ALL the fabulous money saving advice. I can't begin to tell you how much I have saved because of the budget board. ( on the bad side, I also spent some on the great deals people post....:confused3 )

8. I learned that there's not another group of such great people out there as the Dis folks ! :grouphug: Logging on is fun everyday. and makes the time pass until our trip. So thank you.

9. and the last thing I learned (that I can think of) if you need a map, SEE ROBO !!!!!

I am so thankful for this board for numerous reasons. We are Disney virgins for a better lack of words and without this board I wouldn't have the following:

1. Free dining. I booked and had no idea you could apply new discounts to current reservations, pincodes etc...

2. MNSSHP - I never would have found out about that if not for here. I never really looked at it on the WDW website.

3. Dinner ressies - I had NO idea you had to make dining ressies so far in advance. Without this place we would not be eating at Chef Mickey's, Cindy's Royal Table, Ohana or the others.

4. Photopass - not only would I not know about the photopass, but I wouldn't have pre-ordered the CD for a savings of $50.00!!!

5. Disney Florist Magical welcomes - although I haven't decided yet if I am going to do anything like that, I'm glad I know about it.

I'm sure there is more, and once we get there I will utitlize even more of what I've learned, but for now just these things alone have made a huge difference in the outcome of our trip in September :lovestruc

I got knocked on the family board for this but...............

I never thought of my daughter getting her first period at Disney until I read about it on the Dis. After reading that I bought appropriate pads for a young girl to bring with. Lo and behold, it happened and I thank Dis for being prepared.

Although my daughters are years and years away from this tip, I will definitely remember it. I would have never really thought about that!:lmao::thumbsup2thx

I too learned that if I need to know where anything is, from a telephone booth to a cricket on a wall, ROBO is the one to ask!

Without the DIS, I would've never thought of taking hanging organizers for all of my little items and toiletries! I also wouldn't have probably called on time to book all my ADRs - I once waited until a week and a half before (and still got every one, by some stroke of luck). I wouldn't have known all of the info behind Haunted Mansion either. I'm sure there are tons more I just cant think of right now!

Well after reading all these pages, I know I definately have to try a dole whip on our upcoming trip. This will be trip 14 and I have never had a dole whip or a turkey leg or had a treat at the main st. bakery. That all will change this trip.

By the way where is the phone in Tomorrowland that diser's wrote about and what country has the school bread?

If it wasn't for the the board I wouldn't have shared an illuminations trip 2 years ago and meet a great family who we email weekly and now plan our trips around.

After over 10 years on the DIS, I've learned so much, most of which has been mentioned. But I still remember the first thing I learned-to look up when in the stretch room at the HM. Once I did, I was hooked on the DIS.
