THEY'RE NOT GONNA MAKE IT! A tale from 2 cities!! THE END! pg 32

Uhm, I' have to say it's kind of a gong show finding the characters over there, but there are quite a few who have set places now! And the lines are usually formed by the people waiting, and some of the characters do a decent job controlling the line too.

That's how some of the lines were so I wasn't sure what to expect

I know there seemed to be a set spot for the princesses obviously, and back in toon town there's more assigned areas/times. Along with Mickey and then Sully over in DCA. I don't remember there being much information about when or where though you just stumbled upon them and would hopefully be able to get in the line. People were nice enough when I was there to form a line on their own and keep everything controlled but I'm sure that's not the case.

That's good to know. I know Mike and Sully are getting a new spot but I wasn't sure how the other characters worked.

I'm also sure that in DLR the face characters have a much easier time working their own lines as it's expected of them, and they'll probably keep an eye on the "crowd" and speak up if someone cuts in front. Where as Leia 's friend was probably either new completely, or just used to having an attendant to do that and wasn't thinking about it.

Wow...long response... :rolleyes1

Yeah they are used to it while the WDW characters definitely wouldn't be. She was out by herself I think there might have been a CM behind the crowd but I don't really remember.

That's okay... you had a pretty good excuse.

But now that you're settled in.... no more excuses!!

Yes sir!

Good thing you clarified!

Thought I might need to

I tend to see the architecture and fixtures more then the colors, although I do notice when there's something unusual. I'm always looking and thinking, "Now how can I incorporate that in my house..."

ah.

So it was like this:

A long line of suitors extends down the hallway and out the door. Caitlin, seated behind a desk, calls for the next candidate to step forward. A young, nervous looking fellow steps forward.

Caitlin: "Name?"
Candidate: "Howard, ma'am."
Caitlin: "I don't like it. Change it. And don't call me ma'am. I respond to miss or princess. Your highness will do in a pinch, too."
Candidate: "Yes ma'..., miss."
Caitlin: Occupation?
Candidate: "I'm a lawyer, miss."
Caitlin: "Lawyer? What firm do you work for? Or did you hang out your own shingle?"
Candidate: "I work for a fairly large wall street firm. We specialize in...."
Caitlin: "Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever. Do you get any Disney discounts?"
Candidate: "No, miss. I think though..."
Caitlin: "NEXT!"

That's exactly how it went. I should have given Howard a shot though I mean he could have bought us DVC :rolleyes1

Love that chandelier.

I can't tell... are those chocolate covered strawberries?

Yes they are

Didn't...

eat...

it...

:faint:

I know shame on me!

I looked at the resort map on the DIS. It looks about the same distance as Country Fair in ASMU, where we last stayed. If it's anywhere near the same distance, then... yup. It's freaking far!

Looking at the pic of the pathway with the leaning light posts, I'm sure that there're going to be some people saying, "Look at those posts! You'd think Disney could fix those!"

It was a horrible walk we actually felt like it was closer to walk to POP than to our room  The lamp posts were a bit odd just compared to the rest of the decor but the weirdest thing would have to be seeing trees stood up by wood planks.

I looked at the tabel and thought, "Boy, they sure didn't wast time spreading out a bunch of papers!" Only later did I see that it's part of the decor!

:rotfl2: Yeah that little mess was not us!

"Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?"
"As you ask me, so shall I say. That the fairest is... um... the one with the camera... No! Wait! The one in the background... Yeah... No! Hang on... Uh... shoot.... camera girl! No! Background girl! No! Wait!! ... arrrrrrgh....."

poor mirror. :sad2:

Aww you are too kind!

Nice memory, though.

So shouldn't you love Mufasa more? Since his voice and Darth's are the same?

I do love Mufasa but he isn't a villain. In my opinion to be a villain you need a really awesome voice.

Note to future Caitlin. If you become a parent.... then parent! :sad2:
Drives me nuts when parents let 'little Johnny' do whatever he wants, 'cause of course he's such an angel and no one else will mind, right? grrrrr....

I already know!

Mine!

My favorite part of that movie, I think.

What? Really?

Huh. Never knew...

:rolleyes1

:lmao:

:lmao:

Hey! There's another 'y'all'.

You really are getting assimilated down there.

I am and our friends we hang out with the most are from Georgia so it's kind of a given that I am now saying y'all

That's better.

You look so much healthier and happier. :thumbsup2

Thank you!

Oh, man.... That brings back some memories.
I see that and I just wanna cry.

:lmao: Not too excited, were you?

No of course not

Note to self. Bring phillips screwdriver to DHS.

No reason... :rolleyes1

I will be sure to keep checking for that key to see if it mysteriously disappears

So... did you take out any of those line cutting kids?

Just wonderin'

I wanted to but I kept myself in check

Looking forward to it! Thanks for a great chapter Caitlin! :goodvibes

Thanks for reading and posting!

I so agree that seeing pictures of AoA does not in any way ruin anything or compare to seeing it in person.

The picture of the Fab 4... in the Star Wars attire... ALL TOGETHER... OMG I would die. :faint:

Yeah it's amazing the amount of effort and detail Disney put in!

I was so excited!

For starters I LOVE the title of your trip report. About 6 years ago my family was on Dinosaur and right as he's shouting "they're not gonna make it! they're not gonna make it!" the ride breaks down. Some guy in the car with us wgras like "guess we didn't make it" and the entire group just burst out laughing. It was just one of those awesome disney moments and now whenever it looks like someone isn't going to make it to something we break out that line.

 That sounds like a great moment!

I totally agree about the hike from the lobby to the little mermaid rooms at AOA. My mom and I stayed there back in October and it was brutal on our feet at the end of a long day - we would walk on that spongy area near the lion king playground to give our feet a break. And hey! Don't be hating on Rafiki. He was always my favorite character from the lion king! :rotfl:

Oh my gosh we did that too! My mom and I both said Disney should just use that for all of their cement!

I am soooooooo unbelievably jealous that you got to be there for May the Fourth! I have always wanted to go to Disney for Star Wars Weekends but right now it is just impossible with my work schedule. What an AMAZING picture with the fab four! Oh, and I absolutely love your R2D2 shirt! Where did you get it if you don't mind my asking?

It was so much fun! I am not a huge fan of crowds but it was a very good time! I got it from Hot Topic they have the cutest Disney clothes!

Enjoying this so far. Can't wait to read more ::wave::
Glad you are enjoying our TR!

Sorry I'm late to your update. I have not been on the DIs in a couple days.

First - I did not know you went gluten free. Are you feeling better being gluten free? You look great! :goodvibes

Did your room really feel that far away? I know I like to run but I pretty much hate to walk because everything feels far simply because its slow.

Love the room. So cute. I really want to stay there.

Yeah for May 4th. Great pictures of you and your mom at HS. Love them!

You found the key! I'm still not entirely sure where that is and I really need to look for it.

Great update!

I quickly ran to the online check in line! This was my first time using the military discount  Just one of many reasons I married Andrew :thumbsup2

My DH tells everyone I married him just so I can get the military discounts to Disney! I say it is just a wonderful perk! :rotfl: I do love using those military discounts though and honestly would not have spent as much money at Disney without them!!

I loved the pictures of AoA! I saw the Cars and Nemo sections in October and had hoped to see the Little Mermaid but just seeing the distance changed my mind. I have a friend going in two weeks and warned her to expect a hike!

Better late than never!

I feel so much better being gluten free! It definitely is a hard transition but I feel tons better because of it!

It really felt that far away. I couldn't believe it because it doesn't look like a bad walk but it really is. I usually run around the value resort we are staying at but by the end of the day I was beat! We did so much more this trip than we usually do and if I had been running every morning I would have been dead by the end of the trip! I did work out in the room though :rotfl:

Thank you!

The key is under the mat on your right when you first walk in :thumbsup2

:rotfl: The military rates are amazing! We plan on getting the military tickets when we go to DL!

Yeah it's pretty crazy how far away they pushed it from the rest of the resort!

Great start! Art of Animation looks so cute! I can't believe how detailed the rooms are. I would have loved staying there when my kids were small.
So what is May the 4th - the beginning of the Star Wars weekends? I did not realize they did that. We went to SSW last June and although it was pretty crowded we were still able to get on a lot of the rides. We just didn't do any M&G's :( . So you're going to DL???? So excited for you!! .....Someday......

It was a very cute hotel!

May the 4th is the national Star Wars day because it sounds like May the force  They just had something on this day for limited time magic.

Yep in August! We are very excited!

Hi Gang! Caitlin has done the first two installments of this TR so now it's my turn to chime in :)

When Caitlin left off we were headed to dinner....one of our favorite places to dine at WDW is the 50's Primetime Café. The food is good and the atmosphere is great. We first visited this restaurant when Caitlin was just 2 and we always have fun here, so what better place to have our first meal?

When we checked in we made sure Caitlin's gluten allergy was on the reservation, it was, and then Caitlin headed to the bar while I used the restroom. By the time we were both done our waiter had appeared and was ready to seat us.

As soon as we were seated I got a pic of Caitlin and her drink of choice. "Dad's Electric Lemonade" which is among her favorite WDW drinks :thumbsup2

Our kitchen

We were served by our cousin and he was the best. So helpful and attentive and he did not act all like Caitlin's allergy was anything out of the ordinary. In a short time he brought the chef to our table and her personally discussed with Caitlin what she could and could not have off the menu. She was hoping to get the fried chicken and the chef said he could make it "but it would take 45 minutes". She decided to get something else because really who wants to spend that much time in a restaurant at WDW?

She was pleased that she was able to begin her meal with the Peanut Butter and Jelly Milkshake (seriously :crazy2:) which was made gluten free.

She thought it was just as good as always although I still think it's gross but to each her own.

While we waited for our food our awesome server picked up our camera and took our picture.

After a short wait our food arrived.

Caitlin went with the special of the day which was Mahi Mahi, with mango chutney asparagus and coconut mashed potatoes. She loved it!

(the stick in it says "allergy")

I ordered the fried chicken which is my usual there. I substituted the "greens" for corn though.

Soooo good but way too much food! Before she knew about the gluten allergy Caitlin and I would split that meal.

Since we were on the dining plan our meal included dessert.
Caitlin chose cheesecake without the graham cracker crust.

While I went with the apple cobbler.

It was a wonderful meal with wonderful service!

**continued next post**

When we finished eating it was time for some rides. First up,

When we got there it was a long wait so Caitlin got a Fastpass so she could ride later. She then headed to RNRC to try and get a FP there too.

They were out but it wasn't a big deal as we knew we'd be back later on in the week.

We headed back up the street and took some pictures along the way

We decided to ride the Great Movie Ride as the posted wait was 15 minutes.

When we got inside we saw the line was really long and I think we waited about half an hour. It seemed like an eternity though as we were behind this thirty-something couple who could not keep their hands off each other. I expected some parents to start complaining as these two were really making quite a scene :confused3

Finally we made it through the line and the director called "Action" and we were in the movies....

Who doesn't love Gene Kelly? So handsome and talented!

And everyone's favorite nanny

Hidden Mickey!

(you can see his tail and shoe on the left hand side)

The Duke!

And as luck would have it, we got the "cowboy version" and not the "gangster".

Uhoh!!

Poor Sigourney Weaver! This movie still creeps me out!

Snakes? Why did it have to be snakes?!

Bad guys never win!

Ooooooo spooky!

Raise your hand if you think they should change this to George of the Jungle...I love Brendan Fraser in that movie!

I suddenly had a feeling we weren't in Kansas anymore

We made our way down the yellow brick road and back out into the streets of DHS. The fastpass window for Star Tours had opened so it was time for her to tour the galaxy and for me to find a nice cool place to sit down and relax.
I'll let her tell you about that next time. Thanks for reading!

Nice meal at 50's. Caitlin's dish looked wonderful! That looks like something I would order and I'm not gluten free. Coconut mashed potatoes???
I'm with you on getting rid of Tarzan for George of the Jungle. Brendon Fraser in a loin cloth - yeah I'm there;)

Caitlin loved her meal! She said the mashed potatoes tasted like mashed coconut but the flavor was not overwhelming she liked it so much it got her on a coconut kick for the rest of vacation :rotfl:

Me too :thumbsup2

The Prime Time Café is always fun! Glad your cousin (hehe, I love how the waiters are family members) was helpful with Caitlin's allergy. The fried chicken is always good!

Nice pictures from the Great Movie Ride!

Yes it is :) They have the best fried chicken!

Nice pictures from the Great Movie Ride!

On behalf of Caitlin, "thank you"

As far as 50's goes, I'll side with Caitlin as a PB&J shake lover. Yum! Her entree looked great as well, although the "coconut mashed potatoes" give me pause.

I really wish they'd do a refurb on GMR and change out a few scenes. We rarely even go on it anymore. Your pictures, however, are great!

I don't really care for peanut butter (unless it's in a Reese's cup ;)) so the milkshake is very unappealing to me. I did not try the potatoes but she raved about them!

Since there are so few rides I can do at DHS we always end up riding GMR. While I love a lot of the classics it highlights I agree that they could update it.

Great update. I think I am going to add 50s prme time to my list of places to try. This is why I love reading trip reports. I knew about prime time, but it never looked that appealing to me until I red yor TR!
