~~ They're leaving the nest, sew it's time for a trip - or two - or three...~~ D~'s bag ~9/22 ~~

First off, your HP bag is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!!! I absolutely love it!

That very well may be. I have PMDD one day out of the month and I feel completely different emotionally than every other 'normal' day. I'm easy to anger, feelings of impending doom, and am crazy anxious. Hormones are real y'all!

That's Universal Studios proper. We did it the other way around. We started at the park on the left and went back to see Hogsmeade before going to Diagon Alley later in the day.

That's actually Islands of Adventure. That's where Forbidden Journey is located. That was the first HP land that they built. Diagon Alley was my favorite of the two.

THanks! I am happy with it... I love the bag and I love my headgear that I have on the way - the problem is that they don't coordinate at all... So, I am not sure I like that part of it? Oh well - its ONE day, I can not coordinate for one day - right? LOL

I am really starting to think that's what it is, and thinking that way really helps calm me - it makes the most sense.

Ok - I'll try to remember. LOL This will be an interesting day, for sure. LOL

Yes, go to Universal Studios first - get in line to ride Gringotts and then explore Diagon Alley. Take the train to Hogsmeade (Islands of Adventure), there are a couple of rides there too besides Forbidden Journey. I loved FJ - but as I said last night, Charlie did not - made him sick. Then have lunch at the Three Broomsticks. Have some butterbeer. Ride the train back to Diagon Alley. explore some more then have dinner at the Leaky Cauldron. Then you can have some butterbeer ice cream!

I love your HP bag! I had some of that fabric too. Made a quilt for Charlie with it. Now I just have scraps of it. I plan to get some of the new fabric too, since I am making a new HP quilt and need it for the backing.

OK - I think I am just going to take your whole post and copy it right into my plans - LOL It sounds like the best option so far. Thanks Tess! We are so excited for this day and Allison is so excited to take pictures!

I love the new fabric - almost better than the old stuff... but - I really wanted to use what I had. I need to get some of the new stuff to add to my stash though, before it's gone. :scratchin

The HP bag is so cute! Great job with it - you will fit right in in Hogwarts! I love that it's reversible!!

I am very excited to see what you and Allison think about US. I have only been there once, like 11 years ago only for a few hours, so I know it has gone through some big changes. I look forward to seeing all of your pictures and reviews on everything!

Thanks - I hope so!!! I am a little nervous about it though - as I am wearing a skirt on this day, and it's a circle skirt - I hate carrying cross-body bags with loose skirts, because they kind of rub together and ride up... So, I'll need to be cautious... Hmmm.... Maybe I'll make a pair of shorts to go under the skirt? :scratchin There's an idea!

I am excited to see it too... She is more excited about our 1 day at U/S than all of the rest of our trip put together. LOL Figures - she is a HUGE HP fan!

I'm glad your feeling better today.

Your HP bag looks great.

I hope you have a great day at Target.

Thank you - I am doing much better.

Thanks - I really like how it turned out!

Thanks - it was OK. :thumbsup2 Glad it's over for another week though. LOL

UUgh...hormones...glad I have none now...took some adjusting and still have some hot flashes (although acupuncture helps those)...but glad you are feeling better now!

Nice HP bag!

So...if you have extra time on your hands, you could make me a bag...simple smaller black fabric multi colored thread quilting...simple applique...yeah, I would not mind...just saying...

LOL!:

Just RELAX and enjoy your time off!

I am really hoping it's just hormones - that makes the most sense to me. Thanks Lynn!

Thanks!

Hahahaha... I don't have that much time - LOL

I am trying - I am so used to go, go, go all the time, it's very difficult for me to take full days off.

Sorry about Allison and Gus. I'm glad you're feeling better today.
Your Harry potter bag is really nice. I love the colors.
I'm off today and tomorrow as I have an extra day off due to the holiday. The store manager did ask if I wanted to work one of the days but I said no. I'll probably take the Christmas tree down since the kittens are working on destroying it. Tomorrow I'm going to see Star Wars.
Enjoy your day a Target.
Liz

Thanks - I am feeling much better about it today!

Thanks - I am happy with how it turned out.

Enjoy your days off! Relax!!! And have fun seeing SW!!!!

Sorry to hear about Allison and Gus. I think as Moms, we take things very hard. You have to remain neutral and be strong for Allison and deal with your own feelings. Throw hormones on top of that and it makes everything harder. I think that this time of year is very emotional also. There is stress from the holidays which doesn't help. Thank goodness for exercise!! As Dory say...."Just keep Swimming." Happy New Year too!!! ~Niki

Thanks Niki! I am trying so hard to be neutral in this, but I did have to explain why I was crying... She didn't understand why I was so upset, which was making her upset with me... But once I explained that her break up with Gus was like losing a family member - on top of my emotions being out of whack, she was much more understanding and in turn, it made me feel much better.

Yes - my exercise and just nutrition in general is helping me out a lot - I know that. I just keep pushing on.

Thanks Niki!!! Happy New Year to you too!!!! (can't believe it's NYE already!)

Give Allison a hug from me. It is hard to break up with someone even if it is for the right reasons.

I will do that - for sure. It's not easy - -but she seems to be doing pretty well with it. I can tell that she gave it a lot of thought and she seems to be at peace with her decision. I just hope they are able to renew their friendship in time.

*****************************************************************************

Ok - so I worked out yesterday... I've resumed my 30 Day Shred routine for these last few weeks before we leave for WDW. And my eating has been right on point, so I am happy about that. I made myself a shirt (which I am still waiting on fabric for it to ship) - and it's kind of tight fitting - which I wanted, so it doesn't get caught in my bag while I am walking around... buuuut... tight fitting also means that I need to look good under it. LOL Soooo... You could say that I am extra motivated now. LOL

Then I was at Target all day yesterday - it was a good day, and I even managed to pull off a good practical joke on a co-worker. :thumbsup2

I came home, and I took a much needed nap - it was short, but it helped.

Then I received a text from Gus... So, I was able to chat with him via text for a little while - I think the conversation helped both of us. :lovestruc There is a lot of grieving and adjustment that needs to happen with all of us, but I am confident that things will be OK in the end, it will just take time.

Allison worked last night... So, the rest of us had leftovers. I sat on my tablet most of the night - surfing Pinterest and FB... Then I went to bed early.

Today... It's a heavy lifting day... So, I will get that done right away this morning.

I also hope to get upstairs to finish V's stocking before I start packing up Christmas stuff - that way I won't have to worry about it next year. I have not even touched my quilt hanging again - that might have to wait until next holiday season, as well? :scratchin

V has been bugging me for another trip to Barnes & Noble... So I might try to do that today? It depends on if I feel like it? LOL Sometimes I just get antsy to get out of the house - today might be a day like that for me?

I also want to get started on some of my Disney outfit planning. I made a list the other night about which outfit I was wearing into each park - so now I need to go through everything to make sure I have layering options available and figure out how I am going to pack it all. :scratchin I am a little bummed that most of my outfits will be very similar to those I wore in November - but I do have a few things up my sleeves - and there will be a bit of variation. ::yes::

So, that's all! I hope you all have a wonderful New Years Eve... Stay safe out there and drive safely if you are out. :lovestruc

D~

Happy New Year's D!

Love the HP bag!!!!!

Sending more hugs- no apologizing for having feelings!!! We all go through stuff. I've been feeling pretty post partum-ish and cry at the drop of a hat. Having a REALLY hard time with going back to work on Monday after 6 months home and really experiencing being the mom of a newborn and kids in school. Hate the thought of leaving the girls in daycare full time. Not excited to get back to what I was doing. And the worst of it, in addition I've been letting a few petty "I wants" that I don't have and possibly never will get me down. Trying to be positive- we are so fortunate- I feel really guilty! So hugs to you!!

I hope we get to see a picture of your new shirt when it's done.

A practical joke sounds like fun :) I just hope your co-worker took it well.

It sounds good that you got to text with Gus for a while. I'm glad things will be OK in the end.

If I were you I would finish both V's stocking and the quilt hanging before I packed away the Christmas stuff.

I can't wait to hear all about your Disney outfits.

It's now 02.20am here in Norway. I celebrated New Years Eve with my parents, my brother and Ulf. We had a nice time. Eating a lot of food and playing a board game called King of Tokyo while waiting for the clock to strike midnight. Now it's time for bed. I've stayed up WAY past my bed time :rotfl:

Happy New Year D~
I can't wait to hear about all the things you are up to in 2016.

It's called the Forbidden Journey - I keep wanting to call it other names, and I know they aren't right. LOL I can do short simulator - like Star Tours... but I have hear that this one is even more intense than ST? I just don't want to end up sick.

People might say it's more intense than Star Tours because you're in an individual ride vehicle where your feet are free and you're actually moving along a track. Kind of zooming in and out of scenes from HP, like you're on a broom playing quidditch, for instance. I can see how it would be disorienting for some people! The BFF didn't really care for it on our HP day. I didn't get sick but I didn't really enjoy it either. I like things like Space Mountain at DL much more than simulator type rides.

Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year to you too!!! Thank you!

Thanks for understanding... Sometimes life is just interesting - for lack of a better word. ::yes:: I was much the same way after having V - that is also a difficult thing to go through... Big hugs for you too... It's hard enough to put your kids in daycare, but to have to do it for a job you don't love - it's even worse. You'll get through it - I know you will, and maybe something awesome will present itself later? :lovestruc

Happy New Year to you and your family D! Enjoy the night! :goodvibes

Happy New Year to you as well!!!! Thank you! :lovestruc

Well, I finished my new shirt yesterday - not sure if I love it or not? I'll try to get a picture of it on soon... I need to figure out what I am going to wear with it first. :scratchin

I know I should get the wall hanging done before I pack everything away, but I am just running out of time to do that - I won't be in my sewing room much today at all - and I am not sure I will be able to get in there this weekend? And our Christmas stuff *should* come down this weekend too.

Congrats on making it to the New Year - I didn't. LOL But it's quite rare that I do.

Happy New Year to you too!

Yah - this worries me a little bit... I'll see how I feel that day - Allison is pretty understanding about my inability to do some rides, so I'll queue up with her and duck out at the end, most likely. ::yes::

Happy New Year to you too!

Congratulations. It is nice that you feel good about your diet again. :)

Yes - it always feels good to be back on track. :) Happy New Year Sue!

************************************************************************************************

I had a really good day yesterday...

I lifted weights in the morning - it was a good lift and I felt pretty powerful after. :thumbsup2

Then V and I ran to Barnes & Noble... Stopping at Chipotle on the way. She got 5 new books - she burned through her remaining GCs and I pitched in $20. She was a happy girl for sure!

We came home, and I had a box of fabric waiting for me... :woohoo: It was all of the knit I'd ordered for my Disney leggings - it had shipped early! Sadly - it's no better quality than the original dot stuff I had - so I guess I'll just not remake the leggings and wear the ones I have. But I did finish my shirt and I'll work on my other leggings at some point over the weekend too. Then I can start putting together my outfits for the trip. ::yes::

When Josh got home from work - we decided to walk down to the local bar/restaurant for dinner - it was soooo good. I had a few drinks - which is not normal for me - and lets just say, I was not feeling well last night and I don't think I made it to 9pm? But we did have fun - so that's important too.

Today... I'll do some sort of work out this morning - not sure what yet?

Josh is going grocery shopping with me again... This should be ~um~ interesting. I need to work on a list this morning, so we have some sort of game plan. ::yes::

Oh and our new neighbors are moving in... It's always fun to have new neighbors - especially in a small town. ::yes::

The countdown to our trip is incredibly small!!! :woohoo: I do really need to work on packing.

I wish each and every one of you a Happy New Year!!!! I hope it's filled with many wonderful and amazing experiences. :lovestruc

D~

I'm so sorry to hear that the fabric you got for the new leggings were not better quality than the first fabric you got. That's the downside shopping online. It's impossible to see what things really look like.

I hope the grocery shopping with Josh goes ok and that he gets an idea of what things cost.

Happy New Year!

Sorry that the fabric wasn't any better. I am sure the leggings will look fine.

We only got to try the first half of Harry Potter. Forbidden Journey...loved the queue, not thrilled with ride. Chelsea loved the small coaster beside it. Jacob and Marissa liked the big coaster beside it. They all had to get wands. They liked the candy store too. We all enjoyed the butterbeer.

Just wanted to say Happy New Year! I've really enjoyed your PTRs and TRs in 2015 and can't wait for 2016 adventures. Thank you so much for sharing your many adventures.

I'm sorry to hear your knits weren't what you were looking for. I have the same troubles as none of the local fabric shops in my small town carry knits so I have to order online. I keep trying to remind myself to be more patient and order samples before I commit but I never do. I so wish more local shops would carry it.

Happy New Year! New Year, new memories, and of course new Disney trips for many lol!
Sorry about the fabric, at least you have some extra for future trips.
Wishing you a year of happiness, health, and magic D.

Happy New Year! I hope your 2016 will be awesome!

Sorry I haven't been on - my DD has been going through a lot for a 9 year old. She's had to have major orthodontia work done. She's also been having a TERRIBLE time in school. She is being horribly bullied and those bullies are "friends" she's had since preschool so there is no one to stick up for her. I have had to go to school every day and take her out when it is time for recess and lunch. Then I started getting emails in the middle of the day from her asking me to pick her up because these girls were being so mean to her. It has gotten so bad that I am seriously considering home schooling her (she is NOT a good candidate for home school, but I am desperate). Actually, that is why I am taking her to WDW in January - her birthday is in January and I figured she really can't have a birthday party because of these bullies and I wanted to do something fun for her instead of a party. I also figured she needed a fun break away from all of the crap she's had to put up with. Anyway, I've been super busy dealing with that so I apologize for not checking in.

I think I have everything in place for our trip. I got our FP in place about a month ago and I've had all our dining plans for a while also. Our magic bands have been shipped so we should get those soon. I am bummed we are missing each other by just a few days :(

Wanted to tell you that I thought your Christmas tree looked FABULOUS! You really did a great job decorating it.

Happy (belated) anniversary. Congrats to both of you!

Sorry to hear about Alison and Gus. I am sure everything will eventually work out but in the meantime, it isn't an easy road.

LOVE your HP bag. You are going to enjoy Universal. I am glad you are going to have the opportunity to go.

Ha! Glad you were able to get out and unwind. Now get packing!!!

Hahahaha... We had a great day yesterday - but no packing yet. Hopefully this week!

I'm so sorry to hear that the fabric you got for the new leggings were not better quality than the first fabric you got. That's the downside shopping online. It's impossible to see what things really look like.

I hope the grocery shopping with Josh goes ok and that he gets an idea of what things cost.

Yes- it's a bummer, I am not sure what I am going to do? It's a little frustrating. I'll just have to make sure I wear long enough shirts. ::yes::

It went OK - we did much more than just grocery shop...

Happy New Year to you, too, Dee. :) And you have at least two more Disney trips to enjoy, too.

Yes - that I do, I am quite excited for them!

Happy New Year!

Sorry that the fabric wasn't any better. I am sure the leggings will look fine.

Thanks - I hope they do.

I think I am going to love the queue for that one too - I'll see how I feel that day about riding it - I may feel brave or I may feel more chicken-like. LOL I am very much looking forward to butterbeer!

Just wanted to say Happy New Year! I've really enjoyed your PTRs and TRs in 2015 and can't wait for 2016 adventures. Thank you so much for sharing your many adventures.

Thanks so much!!! I am glad you are enjoying them!

I have yet to find any good knit that's patterned... I thought that Riley Blake knits were all yarn dyed - but it's just the solids, the patterns are screen printed... So, it just makes life difficult. I will have to make sure that my shirts are extra long! ::yes::

I think that knit is becoming more popular - and people are less afraid to sew with it... which - hopefully will make more local stores carry it.

Happy New Year! New Year, new memories, and of course new Disney trips for many lol!
Sorry about the fabric, at least you have some extra for future trips.
Wishing you a year of happiness, health, and magic D.

Thank you - same to you!!!!

True - LOL... Nothing wrong with extra fabric - right? :scratchin

Thanks Alison - same to you!!!!

Happy New Year! I hope your 2016 will be awesome!

That is just awful Debora! There were a few times, over the years that the girls were bullied very badly. One girl bullied her every single day on the bus for 3 years - it was a bad situation and we still deal with the residual from that experience. As a mom - it's so hard to decide how to handle situations like that, because at some point - we have to teach them how to fight their own battles. But it sounds like this situation is getting very much out of hand. I am so sorry that she is having to go through this - and you too. (((Hugs momma))) I hope that between you and the school, you are able to find some sort of resolution. :lovestruc

Yay that your trip is coming so quickly too!!! :woohoo: Sounds like yours is as much needed as ours is.

Thanks! :)

Yes - it's hard, but we are all dealing with it in our own way. As time goes on - things will get easier.

Thanks - I am pretty excited for it! It should be a fun day!

***************************************************************************

We had a really fun day yesterday!

Josh and I left early to go grocery shopping... Our first stop was Target... We did great - until we came upon the 70% Christmas clearance section.... They had restocked the ornaments since I was at this Target last - so I grabbed a few boxes of ornaments and a few miscellaneous other Christmas items.... We did pretty good. I'd still like to get one or two of the HUGE Christmas ball ornament tubs - those are so nice just to use as fillers. ::yes::

Then we hit a few other stores too - for Christmas clearance... I think I have enough ornaments for 3 trees next year? LOL It's OK though - I really had so much fun decorating this year - and next year, I hope to make some of my garlands more full and add ornaments to the sections - so having extra ornaments is not a bad thing.

We went out for lunch at a small sub shop - we tried to eat at Chipotle, but they were closed on New Years? Weird.

We came home so Allison could use my car. I tried to nap, but I couldn't fall asleep. So, Josh, V and I decided to go see Star Wars... No spoilers from me - but it was an EXCELLENT movie - and I had no issues with dozing off at all. ::yes:: After - we grabbed a quick burger at Culvers for dinner, then headed home. For the record - I have a "kids meal" at Culvers -and only eat half the bun (the half that they don't put toppings on).

Today - I am not sure of the plan? I have on Christmas gift I need to exchange for V... And it has to be done at the mall. I should have done it the other day when we were there, but I forgot it at home. So, we may do that?

I really hope to get up to my sewing room to work on those leggings, so I can begin sorting outfits and packing. It's hard to believe that we leave in a little over 2 weeks! :woohoo: Cannot wait to feel the warm sun on my skin again!

I hope all of your are enjoying your holiday weekend! Prayers and Pixie Dust to all!!!

D~

I'm glad to hear you had a fun day shopping with Josh.

It's a good idea to shop Christmas stuff after Christmas and get a good discount.

I can't believe it's only a little over 2 weeks until you leave for WDW. You're so lucky.

Ok... It's time to share some of the items I've been making...

First, my black dotted leggings...

Then my banded tunic length Layer Me Up shirt...

And my red dotted leggings...

And please ignore my bed head & no makeup. ;)

Chiming in from lurkdom! I love all the sewing you do. I just want to mention that you have inspired me to be more creative. Because of your threads, I actually got up the nerve to start my own business making custom backpack bags and quilts. Before reading your threads and seeing all you do, I was always in a mind set of "who would really want to pay for my creations", but between all of your creations and the encouragement through your strength to keep running and working toward a healthier you, you have inspired me to make the leap and believe in myself and my creations and try putting them out there for the world to see. Mind you, I am just in the "creating an inventory" stage, but I wanted to just say thank you and let you know that you are inspirational in more than just healthy living!

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE all your looks. The leggings! The tunic! So fun, stylish and they look comfy! You look great D!
