~~ They're leaving the nest, sew it's time for a trip - or two - or three...~~ D~'s bag ~9/22 ~~

Sounds like you had a good shopping day with Allison. I can image that it was hard to find summer shoes in Minnesota now.

My stomach has been behaving perfectly for almost a month now. Crossing my fingers that I have cracked the code. My doctor thinks I have IBS, but I'm not sure since I don't have that much pain and trouble with the stomach and since I can eat some of the foods people that has IBS normally can't eat.

My friend Val did Cirque on the trip I planned for them. We got them Category 2 up high in the middle and they loved it.

I will - Allison just informed me that she doesn't want to dress up for Universal now. :( So, I am not sure if I am going to dress up on my own, or just ditch the outfit all together and opt for denim shorts/capris and a tee shirt? I know that Hot Topic has really cute Hogwarts tees right now, which would be adorable with my head gear and wouldn't look horrible with my bag. :scratchin

I don't think it would look odd if you were dressed up and Allison wasn't. You should go all out if you really want to - it might be your only HP day for a long while.

Allison wants to purchase tickets to see Cirque Du Soleil while we are there

Yay, I can't wait to hear your review! I'm planning to buy a ticket pretty soon for myself for my Princess trip. Just hoping an AP discount will pop up again for it soon!

My grandparents saw the show and really enjoyed it. I think most people like the show - I think it has been at DTD (or Disney Springs lol) for many years. I think there is a way for you to get a discount from your AP as well.

I'm surprised retain hasn't cleared out winter merchandise yet! They always seem to be so far ahead of the season when you need something IN season!

They are getting close - but sadly, I don't think they will have enough spring items in before we leave. It's Ok though - I think we have what we need now? I hope. LOL

We saw this show and we were sitting too close. My sister had purchased front row seats and everything was happening in our faces. This show is best viewed from a little further back so that you can get a good panoramic view. Seats that are close to the center, whether close to the stage or far back, would be preferable to seats on the sides. I looked at the seating chart and I think the category 1 seats would be the best ones. Category 2 seats that are as close to the category 1 seats as possible would be my second choice. Category 4 is located in the corners and you are right, I think you would miss some of the show. I don't know what dates you are looking at but I would buy them soon if you plan to go.

This is good to know - I think we will try for category 2, if we plan to go? Sadly - since we are purchasing the military discount tickets, we have to purchase them upon arrival at SoG - so we will have to wait and take our chances. Hopefully they set a few seats aside for military purchase?

I'm just going back to work this week after being off since December 7 for surgery and the holidays. I think I've forgotten how to get up early! LOL At least you have a fairly easy week (it sounds like) to ease back in after vacation.

I hope your week goes well, How are you feeling? Are you back to normal yet? I sure hope so!

Love all of your outfits! I wish I was that organized for my upcoming trip. I think I have three shirts picked out, just need to figure out the layering as I will be wearing long sleeve shirts under my t-shirts. Well unless the temps are much higher than previous January's. Being from GA, anything below 70 is freezing to me.

I've been struggling a bit to get excited for this January trip and I'm not sure why? :confused3 I think maybe because I was focused on Christmas and not the trip. Also, Jim picked most of the dining options and I'm not super excited about any of them except BOG lunch. I really need to start packing and finalizing our plans!!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Thanks!! Sadly - I am only *this* organized because I never really unpacked from November... As I washed all my clothes when I returned home, I just put them all back in my luggage. :scratchin

I understand! It's hard to get excited if you are doing things you didn't plan - or don't have a lot of interest, but you'll have fun just the same!

Thanks Ariana, you too!

I have not seen this Cirque show, but have seen one here local. I would not get ones really close, they are best seen slightly back from the stage. Check into joining the Cirque Club. I know they offer discounts to traveling shows, but not sure about the permanent shows, but worth looking into. Even if you help her splurge to get a different category, it is so worth it! They are truly AMAZING in person. I had watched them on tv for years before seeing one in person. It was spectacular in person!

This is good to know - thanks everyone for your advice! I think we are going to try to purchase the military discount tickets when we get to SoG? We have to see what Allison's financial situation looks like and if it's something she can swing? Since I am paying for all of Universal (which is a HUGE cost) - I have to be pretty insistent that she pays for this, if it's something she really wants to do.

Sounds like you had a good shopping day with Allison. I can image that it was hard to find summer shoes in Minnesota now.

It was a great day and we had a lot of fun!

So glad to hear that you are feeling better. I wish you had a diagnosis that you were more comfortable with though.

stopping in to say Hi and Happy new year!
Outfits are really cute!

Hi!!! Happy New Year to you too Mo-mo!!!! Thanks! Love you!

My friend Val did Cirque on the trip I planned for them. We got them Category 2 up high in the middle and they loved it.

This is what I am going to try for. I have no idea if there are certain seats we can pick from with the military discount tickets? I know we have to purchase them at SoG though.

I don't think it would look odd if you were dressed up and Allison wasn't. You should go all out if you really want to - it might be your only HP day for a long while.

I will see how I feel that day and if I feel like dressing up? :scratchin But you are right - I will not let her not dressing up deter me from doing so myself. ::yes::

Hopefully we will go - I know she wants to.

My grandparents saw the show and really enjoyed it. I think most people like the show - I think it has been at DTD (or Disney Springs lol) for many years. I think there is a way for you to get a discount from your AP as well.

I think so too... I know that Allison has wanted to do it forever. Hopefully it's something she can afford to do?

I had a really nice day yesterday.... I worked out, and then I went right up to work. Since I had to run to the mall yesterday before I picked up the girls - I had to work early and be done early. But it was good - I was able to get everything done that I needed to do. :thumbsup2

Today - I'll lift this morning... Then I will work until lunch time. I have an appointment this afternoon, so I will pick up the girls from school and head that direction.

I hope you all have a wonderful day! :grouphug:

Just catching up here again. So sorry to read about Gus and I'm sure it is a tough one for both of them and for you. My brother dated a girl for years and when he broke up with her it was particularly tough because she had also gotten to know my kids, who were small at the time. When it was time for me to meet his "new" girlfriend (who would eventually become his wife), needless to say I was NOT very welcoming to her at ALL. I admit it...didn't like her and it showed quite a bit during the first time we all got together. Eventually things changed and I came to like her, and they've been married a few years now and I have two new nephews out of the deal who I also adore...and of course can't wait for all of us to go to Disney next November together!

Sounds like you got all of your Cirque advice already. We saw the show once, many years ago, using discount tickets from DVC. I think we were category three or four, I do know we were pretty close to the very top but we were in the center. It was a great view despite being so far in the back and the top and everybody LOVED the show. Perhaps one day we'll see it again. Hope you guys get to go as well!

Love the outfits as always and your plans sounds fabulous. I am so itching to make a trip myself but I must be strong and wait. We are planning a Universal trip in June and I just found out recently that a friend of mine who lives in FL and works for Universal can get me some GREAT rates on some of the Universal on-site hotels. I may have to book that soon! Those military Universal tickets are such a great deal, I'm just sad that the ones we can get have to be used by May so I can't get them for our June trip. Makes me want to make an earlier trip there too, but again...must be strong and wait.

Have a great day!

I'm glad to hear you had a good day yesterday.

So glad to hear that you are feeling better. I wish you had a diagnosis that you were more comfortable with though.

I'm just glad I have figured out what I can and can't it. What the diagnosis is called is not that important as long as my stomach is functions as normal.

I hope you have a great day today

Totally off topic...but, I have to tell you...if you have not found the secret to cooking boiled eggs that are easy to peel...bring the water to a full boil BEFORE adding the eggs. The first time I did it, I used a spoon to put the eggs in and held it too high, so I had a few that cracked (oops) and I peeled this batch right after they cooled to the touch. Easy peel! But the real test was when I made the second batch I did this weekend for my breakfasts for the week. This time I used a ladle and dropped them in gently (no mishaps) and boiled for about 15 minutes. (I like hard boiled). Let them cool down and packaged them for my daily breakfast and set them in the fridge. The first batch yesterday was perfect, easy peel. Today was more of the same. I am so happy to have learned this...as sticky peels on eggs was a pet peeve of mine!

Okay, all caught up! Love your outfits! You always look so CUTE in your Disney trip photos! I seriously have no idea what I will be wearing this time around. It has been too long since we had a full on parks vacation. My cruise wardrobe will be appropriate, because it mostly consited of cute little sundresses over swimsuits. :-) We purchased the Memory Maker, so I really need to think about my outfits...want to have cute pictures!

As a side note: I love your hair longer! You are just looking more fabulous by the day!

I think so too... I know that Allison has wanted to do it forever. Hopefully it's something she can afford to do?
I am wondering if the tictes have seasonal pricing. Meaning if they are a bit cheaper during more value times at WDW. I'm only wondering this since you and Allison are going during January which I believe is considered a "value" time.
Either way - I hope you get to do it. The show has always sounded like a lot of fun!

Enjoy the day!

That is just awful Debora! There were a few times, over the years that the girls were bullied very badly. One girl bullied her every single day on the bus for 3 years - it was a bad situation and we still deal with the residual from that experience. As a mom - it's so hard to decide how to handle situations like that, because at some point - we have to teach them how to fight their own battles. But it sounds like this situation is getting very much out of hand. I am so sorry that she is having to go through this - and you too. (((Hugs momma))) I hope that between you and the school, you are able to find some sort of resolution

Thanks for the hugs! I am sorry your girls were bullied too. I just don't understand why people do this? Unfortunately, our school is horrible at dealing with bullies (the school has even been on our news for how bad they are with bullies). I am really at my wits end. DD has several learning disabilities and I just don't know how to teach her so homeschooling will be almost impossible. I hope things will get better, but to be honest, I'm not holding my breath! :(

I LOVE the outfits you have planned for your trip. As always, they look awesome!

I would still go all out with your clothing at Universal - even if Allison won't. You'll still have fun and you'll look FAB - U - LOUS!

P.S. I got our Magic bands and ME tags yesterday! YIPPEEEE!

Thank you - it has been very rough, but we are all doing better day by day - it seems, so that is good. ::yes:: I agree - it will be difficult the next time she has a boyfriend in her life, but I will do my best to be nice.

I am hoping we will get to go too... As of now a lot of things are in the air (I will explain below)

That is so exciting and awesome! I do think the military U/S tickets are a good deal - I just feel badly that we won't be getting much of a deal out of them - since we are only going for one day vs. the 3 we get. Oh well.

Thanks - you too!

I'm glad to hear you had a good day yesterday.

I'm just glad I have figured out what I can and can't it. What the diagnosis is called is not that important as long as my stomach is functions as normal.

Me too - this makes it so much easier - and now you know which foods to stay away from.

Thanks - you too!

I love off topic - you know that. LOL Thanks for this - this is actually something I discovered a few months ago - I do it much the same way - but I boil my eggs for more like 11 minutes. ::yes:: But - it's awesome - perfectly peel-able eggs all that time! I agree - that was one of my pet peeves too!

Thanks!!! I am excited for all of our photos - it really is my favorite part of the trip, just being able to dress up - and wear things I wouldn't normally wear at home - and just having a good time, with photos to prove it. :thumbsup2

Thanks!!! I am trying to grow it out - I have no idea how long I will go with it, it's starting to get old already - but I LOVE that I can throw it up in a pony when I am in a hurry - that part is super nice! ::yes:: I just can't wait to get in next week for my hair appointment. I rain into my old stylist in Target yesterday and she was commenting on my hair color and how much she loved it - and I was like "yah and the 2" of solid gray right there..." LOL Definitely in bad need of a new color job - I haven't had anything done to my hair since right before my November trip.

I am wondering if the tictes have seasonal pricing. Meaning if they are a bit cheaper during more value times at WDW. I'm only wondering this since you and Allison are going during January which I believe is considered a "value" time.

I am not sure? I know it's $64 for category 2 with the military discount - and that's tax free, as well... So, it's a pretty good deal - I just don't know if we will be able to swing it now? We'll see.

Thanks - you too.

Thanks - I am excited to wear them... I just love dressing up and being there - it will be a lot of fun!

Allison and I came up with another idea yesterday.

Congrats on your magic bands! :woohoo:

*************************************************************************************

My apologies for a super long update today - but we had a lot happen yesterday.

The girls and I had a rough morning, which resulted in them missing the bus and me having to drive them into town.

I did lift weights though - which was good, and I am glad I got it out of the way before I brought them to school - I figured they were late anyways...

I came home and I went straight to work in my sewing room - I managed to get pretty far on the applique, which makes me happy.

Right before lunch - I got a call from Allison - she was just having a really hard day and was pretty upset. Being the mom that I am - I decided to pull her out of school early and take her out for lunch. After that, we drove over to Target.. Walking in to Target - she was complaining of her wisdom tooth hurting badly - and by the time we were at the back of the store, she was crying from the pain. :( So, I busted open a tube of Ora-gel and that seemed to help her a little bit, but by the time we were at the front of the store - she was crying again. She has been talking a little bit - here n' there about her wisdom teeth bothering her - but thinking back to when mine came in - they bothered me too, but that was normal (I still have all of mine in).... She was in a LOT of pain though. So, while waiting for V to come out of school - I called the dentist, we were lucky and they had just had a cancellation, so they could see her right away. They took a panoramic xray and the dentist looked at her - she has an infection in that tooth - and they were trying to schedule her for emergency surgery yet last night, but they couldn't find any openings in the metro at all yesterday. The earliest they could find is this morning - so Allison is going in for emergency wisdom tooth removal this morning.... She is still in a LOT of pain - but the Dr. gave her some meds to help with that, and it seems like they helped her sleep last night.

So, now we are having a bit of a dilemma... We do not have dental insurance - but sometimes our medical insurance covers portions of this type pf thing - like the anesthesia and such. Depending on the cost of our portion - and how we have to pay for it (some oral surgeries have to be paid for in full, up front), will depend on if we just have the one tooth removed or all of them? And it could potentially risk our visit to Universal? We'll see... The rest of the trip is physically paid for - besides our hotel, but if we have to dip into our trip fund, we will. There are just a lot of unknown financial variables here, and I won't know anything until later today.

It's just been a really stressful few days here, lots of upsetting things going on and lots of emotions going on - so this just seems like 'icing on the cake" for us.

So, please keep Allison in your prayers, this is going to be so painful for her - regardless if we do one tooth or all of them. Thankfully, it happened now, and not while we are in FL. But still - I am worried that she will still be in the recovery stage when we leave, so it may be a difficult trip for us?

In other news - when we were in Target yesterday, we did find 2 Hogwarts tee shirts - so I think we might be switching up our outfits to tees and shorts/capris? :scratchin - we'll see... If we even still get to go to Universal?

I also purchased 2 fake Christmas trees for next year... 1 really nice one and one "sight unseen" still in a box... The really nice tree - regular price was $267 and the other tree, regular price was $69.... Both trees were 90% off, plus the nicer tree was a display tree, so I was able to get an additional 10% off... plus my employee discount... Plus my red card discount.... i paid under $20 total for both trees. :woohoo: I was pretty happy with that. Oh and I was able to get a HUGE $30 tub of ornaments for $3. :woohoo: I probably have enough ornaments for 4 fully decorated trees next year? :scratchin

Anyways... Wish us luck today - I'll try to check in at some point to let you all know how she is doing.

Prayers and pixie dust to all!

D~

Oh wow...poor Allison! Good luck today with the surgery. Hope it all goes well and hope it isn't too expensive! My 13yo daughter has been complaining about pain in the back of her mouth on one side, and I see what I THINK are her wisdom teeth coming in but then the other night SHE tells ME that maybe they are just her 12 year molars. I have no idea how many teeth she should have by now, but the 12 year molars make more sense! Since all 3 kids already have scheduled dental cleanings/checkups next Monday, I told her she should be able to just wait until then and we'll ask at that time. She is still complaining a little bit but not nearly as much.

Poor Allison. I hope the surgery goes well and that she feels better soon. Crossing my fingers that your medical insurance covers some of Allison's dental cost. I hope you don't have to dig too deep into your trip fund.

You got a really great discount on the Christmas trees and ornaments.

Good luck today.

Oh no...hugs to Allison. I just had a tooth pulled last month and I definitely feel for her. Tooth pain is the worst. Good luck today and I really hope her healing goes well. Having such an awesome trip to look forward to should help some.

Good luck today. No matter what the cost is she should get out the top and bottom on the infected side. I remember being in college when I got mine out, the oral surgeon who I used would only do one side at a time.

Can't wait to see your tree's next year

Poor Allison. I hope all goes well this morning. I still have my wisdom teeth. My daughter had hers removed and after the first days was feeling better. We have dental insurance which is really helpful. Hopefully you can figure out a way to get to Universal. If not, there's always another time.
The Hogwart's tshirts sound nice. You were lucky to find Christmas trees. Walmart and Target were all sold out of trees by the day after Christmas. Around here, people line up outside the day after Christmas just to get the marked down stuff. It's crazy.e
I was looking for everyday boots but couldn't find any in my size and didn't find any kitten chow either. We did go to JoAnn's and we found fabric for some easy projects. Since I got that new sewing machine for Christmas, my daughter keeps finding thing for me to do. She wants a pencil rolls for her colored pencils and another one for here niece. We found Dr. Who fabric for the niece as she's a big Dr. Who fan. Now I just have to figure out my new machine.
Today I'm going over my mom's for a little while, then I'll play with the sewing machine.
Have a good day.
Liz

Sending many hugs to Allison and you as well! That is so painful. Mine were removed early before they really surfaced. It took me a good day to get back to my normal self. But after that, I felt fine... just looked bruised. I hope everything goes really smoothly and it helps her feel better!!

There are just a lot of unknown financial variables here, and I won't know anything until later today.

Ugh. Limbo is the worst. Even if it's bad news that you can't do Universal, at least you would know. I'll keep Allison in my thoughts today. *hugs*
