Let's see. Animal Kingdom bag.
1. Safari Donald
2. Lion King
3. Dinosaur
4. Safari Animals, maybe with some hidden Mickey element.
5. Yeti
6. Pocahontas
7. King Louis or Baloo
That's everything I can think of off the top of my head. If I come up with anything else, I'll let you know.
Hehehe.... Believe it or not - I've never even considered a Lion King theme... Or the Yeti - that might be cute with my EE shirt? Hmmm...

I think you may be on to something Ariana.
are you kidding? Totally revealing.. Suzi is going to give it away with that picture!
I know - she needs to be careful or she may ruin it.
I think your running gait looks normal. I land midfoot and people who run barefoot land midfoot. I think everyone is different and I don't think there is one rule here. Just look at the bottom of your running shoes and see if there is any uneven wear. That should indicate if you are landing wrong - although I am not by any means an expert. If you aren't getting injured then you should be alright.
Have you thought about doing yoga? Not only will it strengthen your core muscles - and not just your abs. It will help to loosen the running muscles that get tight. It also provides some relaxation, which we probably all need. It can be quite a workout, too.
Keep the rest day.
Then do Up, too.
Thanks Sue... I have looked at the bottom of my running shoes and the only place showing any wear at the moment is right under the very center of the show - at the ball of my foot area. From what I've read online - wear in that area says that I "shuffle" when I run... I don't think I do - but maybe? It's a little confusing -f or sure.
I have not thought about doing yoga... That is a really good suggestion. Do you have any recommendations for videos? I like to keep my "easy" work out days at about 20-25 min...
Yes - definitely keeping my rest day. I used to have 2 rest days per week - but then I added running... So, now I am down to one.
I love Up - I really do...
I am caught up here again. I hope you hear some good news about your dad soon. Also, I loved seeing all the 5k pictures. Hope you have a great day.
Hello there Shannon!!! How are you? Thanks - I'll be calling him this afternoon to check up again.
Thanks! It was so much fun! I have another one tomorrow morning... Not as excited for it - but I am excited, if that makes any sense?
Hard to say! One thing you will find as you continue on running is that different things work for different people - whether it's a training plan, your fuel during a run/race, what shoes/gear you use, etc. If you are feeling good with this schedule right now (not overly worn out/tired/sore) then it seems like you'd be good to continue on with it.
You have said that you want to work up to a half marathon at some point - as your runs get longer you may find that you need to drop something out. For a half marathon I think you'd want to get up to at least a 10-mile long run at some point, with your shorter runs being 3-5 miles...I know you said you're building up slow and steady (which is great - I feel like there's a temptation with a lot of people to want to do too much, too quickly, which can lead to injury) but it's just something to think about when you do start training for a half. Then I would probably think that WATP would get the ax, and maybe separating out your running and lifting days would work? So you could do something like lifting M/W, shorter runs Tu/Th, whatever on Friday and long runs on Sunday. This is pretty much what I do right now (lifting M/W, run Tu/Th/Fr/Sat with a yoga class on Friday as well, unless I feel like it's too much for me) and it's working for the time being.
Having the ab work in there is good - I definitely would keep that in, as a strong core promotes good running form and helps prevent injury (something I myself need to work on, but I digress...). And I second the recommendation for yoga or some kind of stretching.
At the moment - I am feeling good with this schedule... My calves are feeling a bit tight these days, but otherwise I do feel good. I am tired and I enjoy a good nap a few days per week - but this is something I have always done, and it's nothing new.
Yes - When I do start training for that half-marathon, I'll probably dump WATP and do exactly what you are doing/suggested... It makes the most sense... And like Sue said above- I do think that maybe adding some yoga in to the mix might help me out a lot. So, I'll ask you too - do you have any good suggestions for yoga videos? I have to be able to do it from home.
Thanks for all of your suggestions and insight - you guys are awesome!
First of all... I am so crazy proud of you and your 1st race. Do you realize how amazing of an accomplishment you have achieved? Do you really? How far you have come? You are such an inspiration. .. I mean, OMGoodness. ... I have a friend that runs and I showed her your before picture you recently posted, told her a bit about your story, your weight lifting and that you've only been running a couple of months. She looked at your finishing stats and was very impressed. D, you're doing it the right way. With your strength training, and your gradual start to running. .. don't always focus on the times of those races.... you're just getting used to them. Don't diminish the accomplishment by focusing on where you place. Stroll and smell the roses! Ha!
As far as your everest theme.... I adore the cute version of the Yeti... He would be adorable on a bag or shirt... so could do a whole theme around him. Lol... Cute yeti... not scary yeti.
Doing well here. My etsy is picking up big time so it's a balance trying to get orders out and working my cracker barrel job in the gift shop. We got all the christmas collections out in the shop and it would floor you how much of it were selling already. I just adore that job.
Have a good weekend girly!
Oh girl... You almost had me in tears here! Thank you! I try so hard to do what is best for me and share my story, but sometimes - most times - I think a lot of people are sick of hearing about it and just want me to stop talking about it.
Thanks for sharing my story with your friend.. This journey has been such a long one for me - but it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. And running is just something I never remotely thought my body could do - so for it to do that, well - I have to shout it from the roof tops every chance I get. LOL I am glad your friend thinks my finishing time was decent, that's a relief... because I did feel a little disappointed being at the back of the pack of runners - but I was still super proud of myself for running the whole thing and keeping the pace I was comfortable with. I feel like I am truly enjoying the process, and just the fact that my body can do this.
So, thank you - from the bottom of my heart, for your amazing message - it really boosted me this morning.
Hehehe... I do love the cute yeti too... And I think it would be adorable with my EE shirt... You guys may be on to something here?

After all - next to Splash - EE is my all time favorite ride... It's such a close second that it could be a tie for first.
Thank you - you too!
D, congratulations on your first race. I so admire what you have done since you started this quest. You are an inspiration to many.
Hope you have a great weekend.
Awww... Thank you Kathy! That means a lot! How are you doing?
You too!!!! You are getting so close to starting this new life - it must be so exciting!!!
Aww, you don't want to paint your face blue? My first thought for AK was Lion King but that's pretty obvious so I'm sure you've considered it before.
As for your running/lifting schedule,
@Ariel484 said it better than I could, 'different things work for different people'. If you feel like you're dragging though the week and are dreading workouts/runs then it's probably time to cut back a day. But if you're still chugging along and excited to keep going then I would just continue what you're doing for now. I'm in the thick of half marathon training now and it's got me running 4 times a week: one speed work day, one hill day, one short run and one long run. Then there's a cross training day but I just do another short run. I should do some strength training, but I haven't at all. Hoping it doesn't bite me on race day. Oh, I didn't run today either. I woke up about 2:30AM and only got back to sleep right before my wake up time. Then the alarm went off and I just went back to sleep. Luckily that doesn't happen often.
Good luck on your run this weekend! :
Hahaha... Yes, blue face paint... Mmmmm - no.

Actually - I haven't even considered LK... But I might - I do love that movie a lot! Also up for consideration is the cute Yeti.
I am feeling pretty good going through my week right now... but I think, once I start training for the half, I'll cut back to more like she is doing... I am also thinking that adding yoga would be good too. I wasn't so excited after my bad run on Tues... but my run last night was much better - so now I am excited again. The run on Tues was my first "bad" run - and I couldn't believe how much it messed up my drive... And yesterday almost turned out the same... Thankfully, I saved it.
Eeek.... I hope you were able to get better sleep last night... I hate when I do that - I still do it semi-often, and it's so annoying to lay there and not be able to fall back to sleep. Fortunately - it rarely happens 2 nights in a row for me.
Thanks! I am pretty excited about it!

I had a hard lifting day - I really didn't want to do it... but I told myself - "you just have to do your squats, then you can be done"... So, I did my squats... And I did end up doing all of the rest of my lifts, but it was just a hard day. My bad run on Tuesday really messed with my mind. I didn't realize a bad run could throw a person so off like that?
I worked all day up stairs... It also stormed most of the day - storm line after storm line swept through MN... Nothing real severe - but lots of rain/thunder/lightening.
I took Cooper outside at one point... And he took off running while I was holding his long leash... He jerked/wrapped my right arm around the corner of the house and I went down. Thankfully - nothing was really injured, except for the portion of my arm that hit the corner house - which is a weird location, it's under my arm, where my arm rubs on the side of my body when I walk. There's a nice lump there now, and it feels very bruised/sore, but I can't see any bruise yet. I was not a very happy momma.
I made the executive decision to take a nap after I was done with work for the day. I don't usually sleep hard for my naps, but I did yesterday, and it was nice.
When I got up - I decided to try to go out to make up for my run on Tuesday... I was feeling really bad about my running in general - and I was having a hard time getting motivated to go out, but I knew I had to. So, I got ready (does it take anyone else soooo long to get ready for a run? I swear, it takes me 20 min just to get all of my gear on and ready....) and headed out. As I passed the bar in town, one of the bar tenders came out and was joking with me that I wouldn't last long out there, and she'd see me running in the other direction soon... It was at that point that I really looked at the sky. I debated on continuing on - but I didn't have a Ziploc for my phone, and it was starting to rain pretty good. So, I turned around and ran back to the house. I am glad I did, because as I was coming back - the thunder/lightening really started strong, the sky turned black and it wouldn't have been fun to be out there in that. My friend Stacy was stuck in a storm this spring with hail - and she said it was the worst being pelted with hail and nowhere to go, but to run home... So I have no desire to repeat her run either.
So, I made dinner - feeling annoyed with myself. Not only a bad run on Tues, but now a bad run on Thurs too... Grrr...
After dinner - I was being lazy in my recliner... debating on just taking a walk, because it was nice out... But I still felt like I was digesting. I still had my running clothes on from earlier, so I put on my walking shoes and got everything else ready. At the last second, I switched from my walking shoes to my running shoes... At the insistence of my friend Nicole... And I got out there. I had a great run - I barely made it back home before dark. But it was just what I needed to turn my mind around. I am so glad I went out - because I easily could have sat in my recliner and had a pity party all night long.
Today.... Allison has an appointment across the metro. Then I think I am taking her into the Dr. She ran a fever all day yesterday, and strep is going through school... Grrr... Gotta love BTS. Sigh. Sadly - she may try to push through, since Gus will be down this weekend. And the rule is, no school - no Gus. We'll see what the Dr. says. So, I might get very little sewing room time today. And I've already decided to take today as a rest day, because I am running the 5k tomorrow.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Prayers and good thoughts to everyone!
D~
